OVERVIEW

Built with neck-thru construction and a sleek contoured body, the Hellraiser C-1 FR Extreme is armed with a pair of active EMG pickups with black chrome covers, a Floyd Rose 1000 Series locking tremolo bridge and Grover tuners. Elegant design appointments include "Gothic Crosses" inlay on your choice of ebony or flamed maple fretboard, and the entire guitar is adorned with black chrome hardware.

Multi-laminate maple & walnut neck
Made from 3 pieces of maple and 2 center strips of walnut. This well balanced combination of select wood takes the bright tones of maple and adds a dark tone from the walnut strips. Often used for Thru neck construction giving the acoustic tone of the instrument a perfect string vibration transfer to the body.

Choice of ebony or flamed maple fretboard
Giving the player the ultimate in versatility and tone, you have the option of selecting ebony with its snappy crisp attack or flamed maple with it's dense bright and reflective tone.

EMG active 81/89R active pickups
The 81 utilizes powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils for tone that was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. This pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. The 89 is loaded with Alnico V magnets and has separate preamps each providing custom outputs for both dual coil and single coil modes (R Version use REAR coil). In dual-coil mode, the sound is rich, warm and powerful, but still very clear and is similar to the 85.

Grover tuning machines
The original Rotomatic with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.

Case sold separately.

A stunning figured top and active pickups with a locking Floyd Rose tremolo.

I bought the see-through black satin with ebony fretboard.

Appearance - The guitar looks like a rock star - the quilt maple top is a nice touch, and the black chrome hardware looks awesome. The inlays are stunning with a great design. The satin finish is one of the best features.

Construction - I've never owned a neck-through guitar, and I'll never go back. Built like a tank and the most balanced, stable guitar I've ever played. Notes resonate the entire length of the guitar with no loss at the neck joint, because there isn't one! Heel-less design gives unfettered access to upper frets. Love the ebony fretboard. Denser wood, so your fingers can really get around quick, and has a brighter, snappier sound/feel.

Hardware - Black chrome looks killer. Grover tuners. Pots, switch and push-pull pot are smooth and noise free. Great Floyd Rose. This is a 1000 series - the only difference between this and the "Original" is this is made in Korea not Germany. Same parts, metals, welds and construction. Coming from a 'licensed' Floyd copy, it's like night and day. Some WD40 on the fine-tuning wheels, but after that it's golden. I abuse it Dime/Vai style and tuning is always solid.

Tone - It screams like a demon. The EMGs are nasty, loud, bright and clean all at the same time. I'm coming from passive pickups, so it's like taking earmuffs off for me. A nice feature is the neck pickup has a coil-splitting push-pull pot for single-coil sounds from the neck. Bonus!

Feel - This is by far the best guitar I've played. If this is your thing, you really owe it to yourself to check it out. Perfect neck, medium to thin, perfect width with easy access to the high frets, carved top is great to play.

It turns out this was 'the one' for me, and I knew it as soon as I played it. Keep an eye out for a sale, I got mine here at a HUGE discount, so I bought a nice case too.
Sorry for the long review, I hope this helps someone take another look at this and see what a great guitar it is.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 FR Extreme Electric Guitar:

I can vouch for the many stellar reviews about this guitar on MF's website. The accolades are well-deserved. This is a great guitar--and, for the money, very close to a perfect one. I'm a relatively novice player, but I've now got 20 guitars to compare this one to--mostly mid-range instruments by Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, BC Rich, and some top-shelf Epiphones and Squiers--but nothing really high-end (my "best" guitar is probably a Laguna LE924 with custom DiMarzio pickups). This Schecter puts everything else I own to shame. The pickups are amazing--extremely versitile, endless sustain, enormous power and range. I have a BC Rich with stock active pickups, but they do not even remotely compare to the EMG pickups in this thing. Overall construction seems rock-solid; despite it being a smallish guitar with a narrow body and neck, it is heavy--or (more accurately) much heavier than it looks. The neck is definitely on the thinner side, with slightly more beef than a typical Ibanez RG or JEM. My biggest gripe with guitars is with them having too-thick/wide necks (I have small hands). The neck on this guitar is about perfect for me--if you like Ibanez, you should like this. And the neck-through construction with the active pickups and Floyd Rose just gives a totally different player experience--I can feel the vibrations and tone running through the entire guitar when I play. The color and construction are just beautiful--it's like playing a work of fine art. I've only been playing for two years, but I'm genuinely angry it took me so long to find this amazing guitar.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 FR Extreme Electric Guitar:

Wow. Got this as a STOTD. Black with maple fretboard. Immediately changed strings, which takes a while. But then, plugged it into my Mesa Lone Star Special, the 5-watt tube setting, turned it up, and was hit by a tsunami of tone. Single-coil or both, bridge or neck, loud or soft, it all sounded great. I have six other electric guitars, including a Clapton strat and another Schecter--the C-1 electric-acoustic, and this one fits right in, or maybe is better than its fellow members of the herd. The neck is fast, it holds tune (as it should, with locking tuners), and sounds great. Mostly I am playing classic rock and country, and this guitar even does twang. No kidding. Sure, shredders lust after these hot EMG pickups, but these are versatile guitars.

I am really pleased with this purchase.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 FR Extreme Electric Guitar:

I own about a dozen guitars. Three are Schecters for a reason: great quality at a great price. The finish on the C-1 FR is impeccable. The electronics are top-notch. The active pickups really roar. My C-1 FR has an ebony fretboard that looks beautiful and is a joy to move around on. The setup was perfect. The neck is beefier than I expected, but not overly so. The Original Floyd Rose can handle any whammy mayhem you throw at it and stay in tune.

I've been a professional musician for 30 years. I would highly recommend this instrument for anyone who takes making music seriously.

I bought a Hellraiser extreme c1 fr and liked it. I swapped out the sustain block wit ha floyd 42mm tungsten block, gave it more sustain and it is much louder (Floyd dosn't have as much sustain as a string through neck). I replaced the block springs with noiseless springs. Finally I bought an EMG "het set", although the 81/89 isn't a bad pickup, the Het Set is just better in every way, you get insane output yet the clarity of a passive. I will never get rid of this guitar I absolutley loved it when it first arrived and I am blown away after upgrades.

Had a Led Paul Standard and an Ibanez Prestige but this guitar outdoes both in terms of, well, everything...! First it is beautifully made. The finish combined with the neck thru construction is perfect. The knobs and toggle switch are solid and smooth. The pickups sound like a dream thru my Line 6 Bogner 212, with perfect cleans and gigantic distortions...add in the locking tuners, the silky smooth ebony fretboard, and she plays flawlessly...seriously the best guitar I've owned!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-1 FR Extreme Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. I preordered it blinded, following the tech specs shown on the Schecter Guitar Research webpage, the Hellraiser model reputation & following the recommendation of a musical producer of my country, who said "Schecter won´t dissapoint you". He was allwright. I choosen it from a PRS Torero & an Ibanez S Pretige Series. The quality & the sound, regarding the price, is amazing, the satin finish is really nice & comfortable to play. The neck is thinner, faster Y comfortable that I expected. The sound is agressive, sharp & deep. It has an incredible sustain (because of the neck thru body construction) The 81 & 89 pickups... what can I say, amazing. The Floyd Rose 1000 series (korean version) is the same as the original (german version) The materials & the finishing is exactly the same, the only diffrerence is the place where it has been built. I use the whammy all the time, i´ve been bombing it a lot and the guitar allways stay in tune, no matter what you do with it.
I really recommend this guitar. You will never know that is a korean instrument except for the stamp, I own an American Gibson Les Paul Standard, an old japanese Ibanez RG 770 and a Fender American Standard Stratocaster too so I know what I´m talking about. Do not expect many marketing pieces in there (manuals, cable, brochures or manual). The price that you pay is all in the guitar.
An amazing instrument for a really low price.
