A 7-string specifically designed for today's low-tuned player.

Designed by Jeff Loomis, this extended scale 7-string Schecter electric guitar features an arched ash body with a set-in 26.5" scale maple neck. The longer scale generates the depth of tone required for body-slamming modern crunch. Schecter's UltraAccess joint yields unobstructed access to the 24th fret! The maple fingerboard has black metal cross inlays to complement the guitar's Vampyre Red Satin finish.

Armed with dual EMG Active 707 humbucker pickups, which yield the attack, clarity, and sustain to propel lethal riffs. A Floyd Rose Original locking 7-string tremolo lets you execute the most subtle tremolo or wildest dive-bombing effects and return to perfect tuning every time.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

Ok ive spent little over 5 years playing guitar. this instrument is top notch! it was my first 7 string and the feel of the neck is great and easy to get used to, since i prefer to play schecter over anything. they say people with small fingers shouldnt play this: well i have small fingers and its still easy to play. the maple and ash combo gives you such a great tone. simple to say just get it. you can play metal and rock, you can slap the 7th and 6th string and get some grooves going, its a great practice guitar and a great performing guitar. i had to set it up though because the bridge was leaning more on one side than the other. and it was easy to set up as well. now do yourself a favor and get yourself one now! i highly recomend it to anyone. only thing for the shredders is watch out because the 24th fret is a bit challwnging in the perspective of reach.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

This is my first 7 string purchase and I am very happy with it. I play mainly metal (Devin Townsend, Opeth, Periphery) and this guitar has excellent tone, great sustain, and comes with really low action with no fret buzz. The floyd rose tremolo on this guitar works flawlessly. I had no trouble getting it in tune compared to my old Jackson RR3 which was a nightmare. The pickups have great tone, but I might upgrade to something with more punchiness as these pickups can get a bit muddy if you play fast in the low register. Overall I am very satisfied with this guitar and would buy another if I needed to.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

I bought a Jeff Loomis signature series with Floyd Rose and I can say proudly that it's the best guitar that I've played for this 20 years of playing. Thank you Schecter for this marvelous guitar.
    Thumbs up.
I have tested it with different Amps, and still the sound is marvelous.
You'll get more than a Guitar for the price that you pay.

    Great guitar.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

I can't give it a 10 because frankly... My guitar showed up with a blemish on the bridge. However, in spite of that, and whatever abuses it's taken, it's come out on top every time. Really amazing guitar for the money and i'd buy another one if I needed to replace it.
Owned this guitar for a little over a year and have had a lot of time to get a feel for it. Definitely one of the best guitars i've ever played. Made the EMG 707's into an 18 volt configuration. Resulted in really nice clean sound through a JC 120 (doesn't distort for anything), tons of headroom. The ash body and maple neck add to the brightness, but the 26.5 inch scale isn't just for people with big hands, you get a nice baritone sound whether you're playing in a lower register or you're playing in standard. It's slightly neck heavy," but I think that it's mostly because i'm used to playing Xshaped guitars like the gibson explorer. I got used to it and It's very comfortable to play standing with a strap.
When I received the guitar it had the typical Schecter ""Setup in the USA"" sticker on it", but either they didn't do a good job or it got bumped around too much during the shipping because the floyd would go out everytime I used the whammy and the intonation was off. I also noticed that a small chunk was missing from one of the saddles on the bridge... It's totally cosmetic and doesn't effect the playability, but it's kind of a kick in the face. I set it up again myself (this time with 10 gauge strings and brought it down a half step) and it was exactly the kind of quality i'd expect from Schecter and Floyd Rose. Hasn't failed me once, stays in tune no matter what. Gig the hell out of it and have tried it with a lot of different amps, it just sounds great, very huge.
It's not a bad deal at all. The end result is a really nice guitar that can take abuse and still perform where it counts.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar!!! I have had it for two years and toured with it all across the US! I have many seven strings and none compairs to this one. This guitar will make anyone a Scheter FAN!!! I myself hated scheter untill I got this guitar, now I own three and I want another Loomis!!! The tone is unbeatable on clean or distortion. I have also heard many comments on this guitar about it's wide/thick neck, but I have average to small hands and I've had no problem with it at all. THis guitar has even been frozen solid in Iowa while we were stranded on tour and it Stayed in tune!!! GET IT!

Pretty darn good- not for everyone

    By Troidin

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

My friend ordered this guitar and loved it when he got it, but after a few months of playing he couldn't really put his finger on it, but there was just something about the guitar he didn't like. I am currently borrowing the guitar and I as well love the instrument, the problem is that the guitar kind of gets in your way. It's super heavy and somewhat bulky. To me this really doesn't make too much of a difference, because I usually play sitting down, but it is tiring to haul around on a strap, especially playing live. Also, it has a very thick neck combined with jumbo frets, which is a plus for some, but I have smaller hands so I find my hands cramping up on those stretchier riffs. I figure this guitar is such a monster due to the fact that Jeff Loomis himself is somewhat of a monster. Pros- These quote, unquote, "flaws," don't necessarily kill the guitar, though they do turn some off completely. If you're used to thicker necks, and you don't mind hauling it around, the guitar is actually pretty sweet. I personally like the weight, simply because it makes the guitar feel more durable, also note that the weight is well distributed, it's not top nor bottom heavy so plays well sitting down. The Floyd was not set when he purchased it, but it's not rocket science to set, and works pretty well. Grover tuners are a treat to tune with. The EMG's are the cherry on the ice cream for this guitar, they just sound sound so delicious. I have EMG's on my ltd so I knew they would sound nice but the combination with a 7-string just makes for one mean sounding guitar. Aside from the technical aspects of the guitar, the guitar is also very aesthetically pleasing, the red finish, black hardware and custom inlays make this guitar look like an artifact that belongs in a museum. I have never been one for "METAL!" guitars with spikes and V's and such, but this guitar looks built to shred without going overboard. All in all, this is a great guitar, but I highly recommend (should with all guitars, but especially this model) giving it a few hours of test before the purchase.

Best guitar ive ever played next to my washburn!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome! I always wanted a 7 string but couldn't afford one. It sounds amazing! I love the color! I love the inlays! I love the tone! I love everything about it. Im used to thick strings and now use the 9s and it still feels and sounds awesome! I dont use tremolo's though so I blocked that. I'm a big guy so its super comfortable for me to play. My huge sausage fingers still have a little trouble above the 16th fret but I make due. The only other guitar I have ever played that I like as much is my 1985 Washburn A20 with Blackout pickups in it. I would recommend this guitar to anyone!

you get what you pay for

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

Hopefully the chrome doesn't come off this guitar. Had it for a month now, and I can see some signs of it coming off. It wasn't set up at all. One of the posts was sunk in lower than the other. The screws where the floyd attaches to the back are offset. So the piece of metal that attaches to the springs literally looks like a / to get the floyd balanced. Now its harder to move the floyd up and down. On the positive side, it does sound very good. I play through a valveking and 6505 cab, and it just sounds amazing. The neck is pretty thick, it took me a week or so to get used to. Now 6-strings feel like toys. I WOULD have loved everything about this guitar if I would have gotten what I wanted (BLACK FLOYD).

The best guitar I've EVER played!

    By D!n0-M@n

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar at the beginning of last year and I'm still amazed by its sound, playability, and its KILLER looks! This guitar is simply awesome! The pick-ups are WICKED to say the least. The EMG 707's are stunning no matter what is played through them... from the sweetest clean to the nastiest, grotesque saturation! The neck is very comfy and I love the 26 1/2 inch scale length. It took a little getting used to since you need to stretch your fingers a bit more, but for me it was a VERY welcome freedom from the restrictions found in smaller scales such as found on Gibsons, Epiphones, etc. I have big hands and this neck fits them like my favorite pair of gloves. The Floyd Rose Original trem is one of my favorite features on this guitar. It has a reputation that goes beyond anything that I can add. It's the best out there... and now in seven-string form! YES!The finish, neck binding and all the little touches are extremely well done. The frets and the inlays are of the highest order! Details like these were normally only found on over-the-top-priced guitars, but no longer. All in all, this guitar far surpasses its price in quality. If you're looking for a guitar that just blows you away ever time you pick it up then look no further!

Schecter simply build a great production axe.

    By JWBART

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Jeff Loomis FR 7-string Electric Guitar:

I currently own five including the Loomis and have had various models over the last couple of years. This instrument is solid as a rock and hefty, but if you can handle a LP the weight is no problem. The EMG's are TERRIFYING and with the body mass the sustain is endless. Since I own a couple of Carvin LB76's, the neck width is not a bother for me, but if you're coming from a Strat you'll notice a big difference. The scale length makes the D'Addario .010's feel like .011's which I love, and no matter how aggressive I've been it WILL NOT GO OUT OF TUNE. To give you some idea I inadvertently tore one of the Floyd Rose posts out of my Hellraiser and I've been playing Mr. Loomis in the same way. As I've stated in reviews of other instruments, this is a steal if you understand what you're getting. Finally, I bought the Loomis to experiment and have fun with. I have no problem working with the traditional low B tuning, but currently am using a standard tuning with two high E strings--sorry Jeff but don't knock it 'til you try it! The chords sing, your usual chord shapes come up with surprising voicings (I'm still experimenting here) and your usual lead runs take a fresh direction.Overall, this is an exceptional 7 string guitar...
