Beautiful mahogany and spruce give this acoustic-electric warm, rich tone.

The Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar is made with mahogany back and sides. The guitar's mahogany back and sides produce a mellow sound and snappy response. The guitar also boasts a solid spruce top, an integrated Honduran mahogany set neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and a Godin Quantum I pickup for a great plugged-in experience. The guitar's high-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar ~6 months ago. It is technically my second guitar, but the first was when I was a teenager and it was an electric (I didn't take to it then) so it is basically my first.

I bought it because I am the kind of person who would rather spend a little more up front if possible and get something quality that will last and allow me to grow into it a bit. It came highly recommended both from reviews here, friends who had owned other Seagull/Godin sub-brand acoustics, and from the guys at my local music store. Six months on, I am nowhere near qualified to tell you about its awesomeness relative to other guitars. That said..

I love this guitar. It sounds beautiful, stays tuned, and generally feels like a very well made piece of kit. Friends, some of them experienced musicians, have also found many good things to say about it. If I have one complaint, it is that the action is a little bit on the high side out of the "box". It is a little more difficult on your fret hand to play than many other acoustics I have tried (and I am not the only one who has noticed). I took it in to my local store (where I bought it) and asked them if it could be adjusted - not easily, was their reply. I guess there is very little wiggle room without sanding the bridge down (which I am having done by a professional next week). This is obviously a matter of preference and it may be unique to my specific guitar, don't really know - but it is something worth considering. Even knowing that, I would not change my decision to buy it as I love enough other things about it to put up with!

I have yet to plug it in to an amp so I cannot speak to the quality of the pickups

This is one of the most easy to play guitars I have ever owned. The solid wood construction and beautiful finish add to the value. The Godin Q1 pick-up is awesome. It does an excellent job of tuning the guitar. Best value for the money!

        A Super Seagull Guitar

        By Guitarz

        from Los Angeles

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Whether your style is picking or struming, it's a great sounding guitar. If you are buying it new, I read you may need to have it set up by a professional. I bought mine used, and it was already set up when I purchased it so I don't know how the action will be direct from the factory, but the cost to set it up is well worth it.

It stays in tune, too! In fact, I put a capo on it and ran it up from the second fret to the ninth fret and mine stayed in tune the entire way. I never had to tweak any of the strings. That impressed me.

Lastly, I was told it sounds better with age. By that I mean not how old it is but the more you play it the better it will sound. So if you want it to sound great as YOU age, play it often and don't keep it stored away in it's case.
The solid wood construction gives strong, deep tones and vibrant highs. While playing, I can smell the rich aroma of mahogany emanate from the sound hole. You can create different rich tones by strumming across the fretboard or over various positions over the sound hole; it's that sensitive to your style of playing. When plugged in, any sound you want is yours to create.

It's strong enough to punch through when playing with other instruments and if you're playing with a drummer, you have the option to plug it in. All your options are open with this particular guitar.
Solid wood construction is top-notich. Solid top, back and sides is sound (pun intended.) Beautiful wood and finish. Superior quality workmanship. Made in Canada, not China.
You need to compare this to the higher end guitars to realize its value. It's not a $3,000 guitar but then you're not paying $3,000 either. It's a well-priced guitar. A great value for the intermediate player.

        Excellent value for the investment.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar after many visits to music stores to comparison shop. I found that the Seagull Maritime SWS guitar holds its own against most other more expensive guitars. I own three guitars, and have gravitated to this one and play it adlmost daily. It has a nice mellow tone for the music I play, but when hooked up to an amp, can be adjusted to every need I have for it. I have no complaints whatsoever.

New Seagull Maritime SWS HG Q1 has it all.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I spent time researching, reading reviews about, and finally playing the new Seagull Maritime HG Q1 guitar and it lives up to what Seagull has to say about it. It would have cost me 1000 dollars more for anything that sounded better. I would recommend it for experienced or beginner players who want a reasonably priced acoustic/electric that should last a lifetime. Sounds unbelieveable plugged into my Fender Deluxe 900 solid state amp with acoustic setting. This is my first forray into acoustic/electric guitars and I am thrilled with my choice!
