Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
This is a great guitar for the money. I bought it to supplement my main guitar - a Yamaki I bought in 1977 when it was already used. The Yamaki is an excellent copy of a D-35. It's great for a dreadnought and does what a dreadnought does- excellent for flat picking, strong bass, loud, and cuts through when playing with a group.
But I wanted something that was better for fingerstyle, and I wanted an acoustic-electric.
The wide neck on the Seagull is great for fingerpicking. My fingers don't seem so crowded (I have big hands.) However, the wide neck also takes some getting used to because sometimes the width seems to get in the way. At first moving back and forth between the two guitars felt awkward. I'd get used to one and the other felt like it was fighting me. However, I've kept with it and now I can move back and forth almost seamlessly.
The action on the Seagull was good right out of the box. Not as effortless as a Taylor I played, but excellent nonetheless.
The Seagull stays in tune! I don't know why, but I commonly pick it up to play and discover that it has stayed perfectly in tune. I don't think the dreadnought ever did that. And I really like having the built-in tuner.
It's not my ultimate guitar; someday I hope to go guitar shopping with three or four thousand clams in my pocket. But for the uses I bought it for, and the money I paid for it, it's a great guitar!

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Craftmanship is beautiful. This guitar has great range - nice tight bass, clean mids, and sweet highs, not harsh or muddy. The wider neck really helps with clean chords and picking, especially if you do not have small hands. This is a very musical instument and really has nice projection when unplugged. Plug it in and you will be impressed as well - very crisp and clear, and great tonal balance. I own several decent guitars, both electic and acoustic, and if I could only have one, it would be this Seagull SWS Mini-Jumbo, hands down. I may have to change my "Handle".

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
Tried out many guitars before buying this one. I didn't feel the big name companies had anything that compared in this price range. The Seagull is solid wood not laminated like most guitars in it's price range. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot you may be surprised. The guitar sounds fine unplugged but really comes alive when plugged in. The controls and tuner are very easy to operate.

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I've had high end Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, but can no longer justify having big money tied up. I've tried Takamines, Epiphones, Ovations and a few others, searching for something under a grand that I was satisfied with. They were OK, but uninspiring, to say the least. Someone told me about Seagulls. The only one I could find was an S-6. I was impressed with the neck and the workmanship was excellent. I didn't care for the satin finish, though and the laminated wild cherry was a bit funky. The sound was impressive though. I wanted something with solid wood and mahogany, a gloss finish and electronics. Today I received my Maritime SWS MJ HG Q1, from MF. I am blown away. This thing may be the best guitar I've ever owned. How do these Canadians do this for this kind of money? The sound kind of reminds my of my old Gibson J-45. But the playability of the thin, but wide (1.8") neck is better than anything I've played -especially for fingerpicking. Plugged in sounds great too. The Q1 seems like a good quality system. I can only imagine how good the Artist series with the Q2 system must be -but then you're over a grand. Enough typing! I'm going to go play some more ........
Pros
- Excellent sound
- Great build quality
- Very attractive price
- very easy to play
Cons
- nothing really
Best Uses
- Alternative tunings
- Fingerstyle

Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I'm knocked out by the quality of this guitar for the price. I was looking for a second guitar for dropped tunings like DADGAD and open D, but as well as being really good for these, it's a very versatile instrument and would be suited to any kind of play from soft fingerpicking to hard strumming.
I love the sound - it has a certain 'ring' to it that I look for in guitars and which, for a fingerstylist like me, is very important.
The slightly shorter scale neck makes stretches a bit easier, and the nut width, at 1.83", gives a little more room for manoeuvre. I also like the body size - it's not overwhelming like a full-size jumbo, and fits very nicely on the lap.
Comments about Seagull Maritime SWS Mini Jumbo High Gloss QI Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I was looking for a new acoustic...I've owned Sigmas, washburns and old harmony's, so it was time to spend a few more bucks and get the better guitar this time.I went shopping at several local stores to play the name brands, willing to spend up to $1500.00 actually, I tried several good name brand guitars in that price range and almost had settled on one, when a friend told me about Seagull guitars and where i could go demo one.Now I had heard of this brand but never tried one, so off I went.I went to the dealer and tried one, the SWS maritime HG Mini Jumbo acoustic/electric and was I blown away...the quality of woods, the enormous sound, the excellent playability and the tremendous electronics were amazing for the price range...you can't find this in many other guitars at this price, and I played some very expensive guitars.Well, to make a long story short, I went home and thought about it and the next day went back and played it again, and left the store with it. I have been very happy since the purchase and am just as delighted now as ever...the tone of these guitars is excellent and the action next to none, right from the factory. my luthier said it's the best factory setup he's ever seen, no adjustment needed!thank you SEAGULL?
