I have been playing guitar for about 7 years now and i have had a few guitars, but for overall playability ikeepcoming back to the old squier. seriously, people that complain that you cant get a good tone out of this are crazy. plug one of these into a good old tube amp and it will give you allthe chimey strat tones you could want all the way up to any array of full bore metal tones. sure, its cheap, but isnt that what an electric guitar should be. i have played fenders costing 5 tmes as much and can hardly tell the difference. if you are an advanced player, i would recommend upgrading the pickups and possibly bridge, but for the rest majority of guitar players, this could be all the guitar you will ever need. If you do buy one of these however, be warned, they need a good set up and a good looking at before you can expect them to play like a custom shop strat, so give them the attention they deserve. i mean, ultimately, thats what makes a custom shop worth more... time spent setting it up. So stop feeling like you need to spend a million dollars on a guitar that really only should cost a couple hundred.

    A Decent Guitar for Beginners

I got this guitar as part of a "Strat Pack" (along with the Bullet 150 15W amp, tuner, and strap). I actually bought two packs - one for myself and one for my son.Yes, the guitar has some rough edges, but after doing a quick set-up, it plays just fine. The action is smooth (with no buzzing), the intonation is spot on, and it stays in tune better than some of the stock tuners on my more expensive guitars.I swapped out the stock pick-ups and replaced them with a couple of rails and a Seymour Duncan humbucker. I replaced the nut, bridge saddles, and tension posts with GraphTech replacements. I took the knobs off and replaced them with black chrome "Tele" knobs -- all of this because I wanted a cheap guitar to practice my "guitar tech skills" on. I now have a solid back-up guitar. Money and time well-spent!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

I am an experienced accoustic guitarist that decided to try to learn to play lead/electric. I bought this guitar cuz I'd rather spend $200 than $2000 to find out if I will keep going. I got the guitar, changed to super-slinky's (totally necessary) then took it to a great guitar shop (Moze in La Mesa, CA) to get it dialed in. It cost $50 to get this guitar all dialed up and sweet. I am having a ball with it. The neck is 99% perfect, it holds tune very nicely. I am super happy with it. Oh BTW do get the Affinity and not the Bullet, which I think are Affinity guitars that failed QA. Just my humble opinion.

good guitar, if you replace the humbucker

    By zane Milkdud

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

this guitar is simply astonishing, and if you take my advice on the coil tapping humbucker, it would be the most sonicly virsatile guitar in your inventory.
I got this guitar in the "Stop Dreaming Start Playing" pack, and it is awsome. The only problem is the bridge pickup sucks. It is too thin sounding, and doesn't allow for the classic Strat sound. which is why I recomend a coil tappable D'marzio or ,if you are willing to put down the extra money, the Gibson 498T (I have the coil-splittable Gibson in mine and it is amazing). One thing I am pleasently supprised about is the trem. It keeps tuning stability as well as some Floyds I've used, and the remarkable tuners also add to the tuning stability. This is an intsrument that is not just for kids and beginers, this is also a supprising instument for the professional on a budget.
the build quality on this master piece is rediculously good. The tuners are better than most, and the neck is the same with almost no buzzing anywhere. The only thing showing its three-year-old age is the wobbly trem arm ( an easy fix with a nut and JB welding mateirials).
If you scratched off the logos on this guitar and an American model, not even a fender employee could tell the difference in quality.

    I love it!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

The sound quality is tremendous, you can get some good acoustics, and with a distortion pedal, you canget amazing metal sounds. Even without a distortion pedal, the pickups sound amazing. The bigest reason you can do this is because the two dingle coil pickups and the humbuckler pickup give you four different settings that you can choose to use for many different sounds.
The whammy bar only goes lower, not higher, but everything els is great.
It is a great guitar overall I had an experienced guitar player look at it, and he said that the action could be lower, but it didn't take much to fix.
I got mine at a diferent place, and it is great for the price. I've played some more expencive ones and they were only about as good. So for the money, this is probibly the best guitar you can get.

    GREAT FOR ANYONE

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

I bought this about 5 years ago. i stopped playing it when i bought an ESP, and Dean, and now a schecter. Ive dropped this thing so many times, and nothing has broken. i pulled it out of storage recently and its my favorite guitar even with the stock pickups. it plays very smooth, the frets are low and are really fast. The single coils suck but if you are into rock, the humbucker is surprisingly good. this thing just seems to get better with age!

    A great guitar for beginners

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Fat Strat Electric Guitar:

It is a very good starter guitar package deal, but I do not recommend it to expireneced players. It is a fairly well built. It has a pretty standard sound, but the hummbucker really sounds good with the two singles.
