I purchased a blue affinity series Tele from MF. When the box arrived(packed well enough to go around the world!) I was like a little kid at Christmas. Believe it or not, it was in perfect tune, right out of the box.Action is something I'm very finicky about. The factory set up on this guitar could not have been better. The guitar's finish is gorgeous. Kind of has a purple flip to it in the right light. The neck is raw maple...VERY fast.Very comfortable. The guitar's nut was faulty. The g would pop out of the slot when you bent the string. The high e also popped out of it's slot. I always have my guitars set up, regardless. My tech did a quick level, crown and polish of all the frets, and installed a new bone nut with a fresh set of .009-.042's. The guitar is perfect now! Truly one of my favorites. I've owned far more expensive guitars and this one is a keeper.Spending more doesn't always mean you'll get a better product. I recorded a track for my cd with this guitar, I liked it so much!! The finish does chip easily. Try not to bump it. These things do happen. On to the sound....this baby can do anything. Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal. Extremely diverse and easy to play.I prefer the middle pickup as I think that is where it sounds best for cleans. Rear pup suits higher treble tones and rock sounds. The frets are going to be worn off of this from playing it :) I play this guitar a lot more than My 80's Charvel, Epiphone wildkat(Also bought from MF) and Twin Les Paul's. Don't let the Squier name or overseas crafting fool you. These are awesome guitars. The guitar doesn't cost a lot of $$$ How can you go wrong? Even with a defective nut, I give this guitar 5 stars! LOVE IT!!! I highly recommend it.

I give this guitar a 5 out of 10 only because of the extremely low quality control on the factory setup and the hardware (tuning keys, bridge, input jack plate and pickup selector) are of low quality however, I do not plan on upgrading them. Everything works fine and I very gentle with my guitars.
Not much to mention, its a solid body hard tail guitar with a bolt on neck.
Out of the box this guitar was a mess. Very sharp frets, extremely high action, intonation off on every string and the neck had a inward bow. Not to mention a slight crack (very slight but noticeable) in the body at the neck joint. I did however expected this from a cheap guitar. After a complete setup - filing the frets, setting the action, setting the intonation and straightening out the neck I must say......I love it, absolutely love it. It is by far one of the most comfortable guitars I have ever played. The neck is perfect for chording jazz and classical chords. I play it clean through both pickups (in the middle position) and the tone is amazing. I can't imagine a custom shop tele playing or sounding much better than this squire.
Off the chart once it is properly set up.

Right out of the box enjoyable. The pickups aren't nearly as strong as my Strat so I turned the amp up ,no big deal . The finish was flawless , it stays in tune and plays like a guitar costing much much more. I love this thing.

Opened the shipping box ,tuned it and played it. I was very happy with the factory set up. The action was amazing , the finish was flawless. For the price , a lot of guitar. The pickups are wimpy but that's an easy fix that I counted on from the get-go. All in all I am totally satisfied with my purchase . Every experience that I've had with Musicians Friend (which has been many) had been pleasant.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I can buy any Fender product made. and it never ceases to amaze me how i am drawn to the Squires. now some squires are too cheaply made for my taste. But there are some that are an amazing value. i consider them the quality of yesterdays Fenders. And for some reason, i generally find the guitar tone to be more of my liking than with most fender branded guitars. If you dont have to have the name FENDER on the headstock, Squire is a great way to go.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I wanted to buy a Telecaster for the longest time. Not only that, I wanted to make it my own and I was thinking of modding it. I'm not a person that likes to mess with guitars too much, especially if they're expensive, I like to keep them stock for as long as possible. Nevertheless, I wanted to venture on, and try to mod a guitar (this tele) to my liking. Don't get me wrong, out of the box, this is a great looking guitar, the neck is perfect, satin finish, straight as an arrow, no fret buzz, no sharp edges, perfect intonation. I was amazed! My only downside comes with the electronics, not bad, but you can do better (they feel a little flat for my taste). So I swapped out all the hardware, made it all with black hardware, bought a hot rail, coil tapped the humbucker, bought locking tuners and bam! (the only thing I regret is not making it a 4-way switch telecaster...but that will come soon enough).

So if you feel like taking apart your guitar and making it your own, without feeling guilty... GO FOR IT!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Let me start by saying I have been playing guitar for over 40 years and have owned many, many guitars to Include Fenders, Squires, Gibsons, Epiphones, and Ibanez's. With that in mind these guitars I've owned range in price from under a US Franklin to over a thousand US Franklins. Currently, prior to buying this Tele, I own two MIM Fender Strats ( one of which I have owned for 25+ years), a Fender T-bucket Acoustic, a Sterling Music Man "Rockstar" series guitar, a Squire PJ Bass, and a multitude of other music equipment to include PA systems, drums, amplifiers (Fender and Marshalls), keyboards, and stage lighting ( Yes, I have a four piece country/rock band that plays 50 -60 shows a year). Now to this Squire Affinity Telecaster .... Well let me say that when it arrived from MF it was packed to be shipped around the world. When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised with the color (Artic White, but, it is more ivory colored). I did a once over of the guitar and I will say that the craftsmanship on this guitar is more than excellent. The finish was flawless, the neck was like butter ( fast and thin.I have small hands and the neck is perfect for me), the frets were finished to perfection with no sharp edges as I found on a Squire Strat that I owned before. I removed the plastic covering from the pickguard and front PUP, tuned it up with the factory strings and found that the intonation and string height had been PERFECTLY at the factory. There was no fret buzz whatsoever. The electronics and tuners seem to be solid and I will add there is no noise from the pickups. The tone on the front PUP is warm and jazzy (clean with a touch of chorus and reverb), the rear PUP is sharp and twangy just like a Tele should be ( clean with a chorus and reverb). Now add some distortion to the amp and this guitar comes to life. Now you don't get that dual humbukcer sound, but the sound is that classic 1970's rock and roll/southern rock sound.. The guitar that was sent to me may have been the cream of the crop, but I would have paid double for it (two Franklins for this guitar is a steal). this guitar may very well become my primary guitar and take the place of my long loved Strat.. If you are looking for that classic tele sound and don't want to spend a boat load of money, BUY ONE OF THESE. This is absolutely the best guitar for the money I have found in a long, long time. Oh yeah, the Artic White color has that classic 1950's aged white color... PERFECT GUITAR at a PERFECT PRICE....

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Right off the bat, let me say that the pictures you see above do not do this guitar justice at all. I bought this guitar with the intention of just having a tele to play around on. Now with this things price tag, you're going to need to upgrade some things(I personally had a friend repaint it and put new Fender quality pickups in, the electronics are actually very good for Squier) After my upgrades, I love this thing, it plays great, has a uniquely twangy sound and is just what a person new to Tele's needs. I recommend this for anyone like me looking to add that missing piece from your guitar collection, or just need something to jack around with. Solid block of wood, can't beat the price.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I grew up when cheap electrics were just that...cheap junk you could barely play. New players these days have got it made. The quality of these Affinity Teles are way above average, even compared to the so-called pro quality stuff out there. I have a ten year old Affinity Tele, and it's just about perfect. The only bad thing about mine were the very sharp-edged Allen Screws on the saddles. I brought my dremmel out and took care of that problem. Forget about what the headstock says, this is one serious, well made guitar that is meant to play with the big boys. Great neck, nice Alder body, full-sized pots. Just a very nice guitar worth way more than the asking price. No complaints. It plays every bit as good as my American Standard Tele.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Came delivered completely out of tune-but I tuned it up and it sounds good-my first tele. stays in tune, low action with zero fret buzz and I love the neck. The neck is a bit narrower than my strat, but thicker front to back. Very comfortable for my hands. The only negative is the sharp fret edges-getting those smoothed out (it is at the shop right now). Pretty nice budget guitar. Good sustain.

The stock strings instantly turned my fingers black-and stained the unfinished fretboard (oil on the strings? -I wish there was a gloss on the fretboard like my MIM strat. I do love the shape of the neck so much, I am thinking of upgrading the pups.
