I have over 150 guitars in my collection, and have returned a couple of mid level Fenders that just did not do it for me.

FIRST THINGS FIRST. Leave the guitar alone! If you want to replace the tuners, get the same trapezoid tuner, or go to: http://amateurluthiery.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/replacing-the-tuners-on-a-squier%C2%AE-by-fender%C2%AE-bullet-strat%C2%AE/ and make up your mind.
What is important on a nut, is NOT what it is made from, but the string to string dimensions, the height (rise and fall), and the proper groove cuts. Bone IS NOT THE BIG ANSWER TO ALL YOUR GUITARS ILLS, and may just add to them, as bone is NOT consistent, and is hard and soft throughout (plastic is consistent). The pickups DO NOT NEED REPLACING, and deliver great punch, sustain, and string response.

I bought this low end (I thought) fender just to see what all the hubbub was about.
The rationale: If I didn't like it, I could always change out the neck and put a new loaded pickguard on it.
For an entry level priced guitar, this thing just rocks! I just picked up two more on sale from Musicians Friend, so now have 4, plus misc. necks and bodies.
The most important thing to me, is that it is made in Indonesia; why you ask, because Indonesia has been producing the best offshore guitars for the last 6 or 7 years, and in my humble opinion blows Korea out of the water on low end guitars.

First off, the tuners don't blow as bad as you are led to believe; this may change after a while, but as new tuners, they are just fine.
The neck is straight and unfinished which makes it fast. The medium frets are right on the edge of giving you some finger rash, so a little light sanding may be in order.
The strings are cheap (Duh!)
After installing the (included) extra tremolo spring (I always use 4, this way I don't have to block it), I gave the truss rod a half turn down, lowered the saddles, and corrected the pup angles (closer to high e, further from low E), and voila, other than the stock strings, and frets needing a little dressing, the guitar played just as well, or better than at least half of my mid price range guitars.
The black hardware is great; I get so tired of looking at chrome.....................
Pickups sound like they are mid range (6-8K), and come across with good punch and sustain.
The shining star on this rig, is the VERY lightweight basswood body. While it may be more dent prone, I don't usually go around banging my guitars into hard objects, and if I did, at the low price, who cares!!!

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I always wanted an Orange Charvel with duel humbuckers and black pickguard but I didn't want to spend that much money. When I saw Squier offer this Strat in orange I bought it right away. I must have gotten really lucky with this one because it's perfect right out of the box. The only bad thing about this guitar is the tuners are a little hard to turn but they stay in tune very well. I'm very happy with this guitar.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

I have owned a lot of Strats and this has the best neck and for some reason the trem stays in tune with heavy whammy use. No doubt the best bang for the buck from Fender. The metallic orange paint job would cost you more than the whole guitar!

The pickups have a nasal mid range sound , better than most import humbuckers and very useful for agressive sounds with good harmonics.

I was looking around for a nice lightweight body for a Mighty Mite neck and HH motherbucker board I have, so I ordered
one of these in black to change out these parts.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Tuners are only so-so, I replaced mine with Grover Rotomatics, frets needed to be polished. That is IT! This little thing plays as nicely as my 1971 tilt-neck Strat. but it's half the weight! It's a joy to play, humbuckers sound great! Neck is great! Balance is great! Workmanship is flawless! Even the strings it came with sound great! Quality control is really impressive, just a super-duper good deal on an awesome guitar, and I never use the word 'Awesome', ever! Bought mine with a gig-bag, got the guitar, played it for a few days, picked up the phone and ordered the hard case for it, it's THAT good! I'm keeping this one forever.

Comments about Squier Bullet HH Stratocaster Electric Guitar with Tremolo:

Being a bassist i have a couple fender jazz basses that are my main players. That being said, when i first picked this little bullet strat up it felt like a toy... which i guess it really might be. but a simple upgrade to the strings of your choice might just change your mind. This almost mini strat body is so light it feels odd at 1st. but once you do, you realize the neck is actually pretty straight, fast, and after replacing the factory strings, realize that the pups were worth the price of admission . fun to play and looks great hanging on your wall..but i think you will find yourself playing it a bit more than you imagined as it has a certain little "fun" factor with the tremolo etc. This review is taking into consideration price, of course, build quality, playability, cosmetic/appeal, and quality of sound for the price, best bang for your buck. remember, at under a bill, come on ! what you get is a little bit of fender fun.

This guitar is well worth the price..it has a great sound that comes from the humbuckers, a little different since Strats are mainly single coils. Whether your a beginner or advanced guitarist this Squier is great! The black hardware definitely makes it stand out, I purchased the metallic orange and have received LOTS of compliments. A few little minor tweaks and I'd be glad to get on stage with this guitar..So if your looking for an affordable guitar that plays nice, do yourself a favor and get this one!! You won't be disappointed!!

I now own 4 of these one in the tone sunburst in HSS and one in Green Metallic finish HSS pickup configuration. Plus I own one in Metallic Purple in the SSS pickup configuration. And now with this one the Metallic Orange in the HH format. These are all great guitars not only for the money but just because they really are that well made. All it takes is a little small setup to one's liking and you'll own a GREAT guitar. Trust me and I have the Pictures in my reviews to prove it.
