Squier

Classic vibe with modern refinements.

The Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s is an electric guitar that leaves no doubt as to its true Fender identity. With its cool finishes on an alder body and 21-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck, this beauty definitely has that '50s vibe. But you also get the modern playability of a 9.5" radius neck and medium jumbo frets. The tone is unmistakable as well, with a custom set of AlNiCo 3 single-coil pickups. This Squier guitar's tone is clear and bright with terrific sustain even in crunch mode! Custom-staggered pole pieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Classic Vibe!
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct—but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each has a distinctive feature set combinations— adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value—Classic Vibe!

So there it is. The real deal. After I've seen or experienced 5 or 6 terrible Squier experiences, I was not too shure about getting another one (I had the standard series before). But after reading countless positive review and seeing the price, I just went for it. Just right out of the box, it was shining. Maybe it was just the beautiful glossy finish, but I felt something else. I suppose this is was guitarists feel when they unbox a real Stratocaster. The maple neck and fretboard, the keys, the golden Squier logo... It's beautiful. I played it alone, no amp, it was just great. The neck is incredible, perfect for strumming, shredding, power chording, bluesing and more. Plugged with headphones, I experienced my first "freaking sweet tone" experience. When I brought it at my gig, that guitar made her point. It's flawless. It feels right. It's comfortable. It's stays in tune even if you beng it like hell. This guitar will never get in the way of your technique or creativity. I own an Ibanez RG5EX1 and my Squier Classic Vibe just destroys it. It's much better than the Fender Stratocasters made in Mexico. I even like it more than a Gibson Les Paul Studio that sells for 1400$!! it's just crazy. So go ahead, whatever style you play. If you like playing guitar, that all that matters. I love my Classic Vibe.

Value for money

Features:

This is not just a beginner's Strat, although the price might so suggest. I am particularly happy about the neck: the finish is sublime in all its gloss -- perfect to handle. I don't think the original pickguard looked good, so I changed it to a white one. The good thing about the original pickguard (color: gold) is it's metal, decreasing Strats' typical pickup noise. Bridge & bender are good. The sound of the guitar surely has a bite to it. I'm not planning to upgrade any parts soon, but maybe in the long run I'll check out some advanced pickups.

Quality:

Don't like the pickguard, not crazy about the pickups.

Value:

As mentioned, value for money.

Overall:

Hardly world-class, but a fine instrument.

Squire Classic Vibe 1950s Strat

| Review By: James Priebe | 4 months, 1 week ago

6 people out of 6 found this review helpful

Features:

These Classic Vibe series Asian made Strats are unbelievably good for the money.  For that matter, they are very good regardless of cost. My teacher, who is also a performing professional musician, has acquired one as his traveling workhorse - leaving a $2,000 Fender at home.   So far, I love this guitar.

Quality:

The quality of the construction and finish is what sets these asian made guitars apart, clearly superior craftsmanship to the Mexican made models.

Value:

At this price, with this level of quality and playability these CV Series are a homerun.

Overall:

Really a 9+, high quality: the tiger-striped maple neck is really beautifully finished; The Alder body sunburst is stunningly turnedout and the setup out of the box is spot-on.  Great string-to-string balance in all 5 positions and all the sound versatility you expect from a Strat.  The custom Alnico pickups are great.  How can they build this guitar for this money?  You can't.

Good Looking and Sounds Great!

Features:

Strat style with three single coils.

Quality:

Seems very well made.  Get a professional setup.  I put number 8 strings on mine as I like light strings that sound great and are easy to bend and easy on the finger joints.  I have little to no buzzing and the sound from the guitar is wonderful.  Well done Fender / Squier and thank you!

Value:

Outstanding value.  So much guitar for so little money.

Overall:

A wonderful guitar that is light, comfortable, easy and fun to play and sounds amazing with the stock single coils.  This is a very good guitar for a very low price.  It will play most styles of music, however, probably not your best choice for metal.  Of course everyone will have their own experience and everyone has their own likes and dislikes about guitars.  Check it out, I think you will like it.
