OVERVIEW

Classic vibe with modern refinements.

The Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s is an electric guitar that leaves no doubt as to its true Fender identity. With its cool finishes on an alder body and 21-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck, this beauty definitely has that '50s vibe. But you also get the modern playability of a 9.5" radius neck and medium jumbo frets. The tone is unmistakable as well, with a custom set of AlNiCo 3 single-coil pickups. This Squier guitar's tone is clear and bright with terrific sustain even in crunch mode! Custom-staggered pole pieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Classic Vibe!
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct-but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each has a distinctive feature set combinations- adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value-Classic Vibe!

Towards the end of last summer I decided I wanted to add a stratocaster to my arsenal. I was looking for the best quality strat for a decent price. After a few months of research and regular trips to my local guitar store I had my mind set that I was going to buy one of the Mexican made fender strats and modify/upgrade it if needed.

I came across this guitar on the internet and didn't think I wanted to bother with a squier, but all the reviews were fantastic. They had only one at my guitar shop so i decided to try it and man, I was blown away.

This guitar to me felt better and sounded better than any of the Mexican made strats they were selling and kept up with all of my more expensive fenders (and other guitars) with ease.

The neck on the guitar is honestly one of the best necks I've ever played. I get around it so easily and its very comfortable. The one piece maple neck and fingerboard plays awesome. the fretwork and setup was fantastic. The 9.5 radius feels great in my hands (I'm 6' tall and have normal to bigger sized hands for comparison).

The body is solid alder and sounds pretty good. Most strats wont resonate very much or sustain so well, but for a strat its pretty solid.

as far as the electronics go, I was shocked at how good the pickups sounded. They really have a vintage sound with minimal noise. The pots were all good and everything was put together very nice. Insides were super clean.

The hardware is solid as well. The vintage style tuners hold tune great. I am not really much of a trem guy, so I can't comment much on the bridge as I plan on blocking off the trem system.

I absolutely love the vintage tint on the neck. I have the fiesta red model. I didn't have much of a choice as it was the only one available, however I do like it and the finish on the body is very nice. I especially like the off-white pickup covers and knobs on the white pickguard.

Finally I will say, after owning this guitar for about 6 months I only made one modification. I changed the bridge pickup out for a dimarzio bc-2. This wasn't really as much of an upgrade as it was a change of the sound. I just wanted a humbucker style rhythm tone from my bridge (as I have to sing in my band and live play a lot of rhythms while I sing) while keeping the neck and middle stock for that traditional "quack" sound of a strat.

Overall I think that this is the best stratocaster you can buy for the money. It's great stock and easy to modify if you want! If stolen I would definitely purchase a new one. In fact I plan on buying another anyways, maybe a 60s vibe?

I would recommend this guitar to anyone of any skill level. I have been playing for 10 years, recording and live with bands and it honestly blew me away.

All in all this is a great guitar with some careless mistakes on it..A shame really but i think the pickups sound great and the neck feels good and the bodys light..I would buy one again but go over it first to avoid the problems above.
It has great pickups and the neck feels great. Also the frets are nicely done
They drilled the 6 hole tremolo crooked,it looks like some guy just eyeballed it and drilled.Use a template next time?.The string tring tree hole was drilled to big for the string tree screw and the screw wouldnt tighten.I had to to use the the tooth pick method on my brand new guitar.Truss rod is hard to turn..All in all thats about it for the bad.I noticed all this stuff wrong with it unfortunatly after i modified it so,(i mean who unscrews the bridge to check the holes?),well im going to start too

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

I've been looking at these guitars every since they first came out. I wanted the 3 tone sunburst 60s model. I was at GC and stumbled across this 50s 2 tone sunburst used for ninety ninety. The body has a few dings but no big deal. This guitar sounds and plays amazing. Who ever had this guitar before me has some how wore the finish down on the back of the neck perfectly. It feels amazing. I think they put to much finish on the back of their necks. I know, some people like the heavy gloss. It had couple of issues. The volume did crackle but it is used. I changed the volume pot. The other issue was the B string tuner screw was loose. Used the toothpick trick (easy fix). I put a american made string tree on it, but that's just my preference I like the way look on my guitar. It cost me around twenty to fix my guitar, but well worth it. I got an excellent guitar. All in all buy this guitar if you are looking for a great strat for little money, you can't beat it for the price. Squier has the best selection of guitars for the money and quality. You can pick one up used and easily upgrade it for less than a mim and have a gig worthy guitar. My guitar is an '08 model and it has held up well, so if you are wondering about the quality they hold up, even though I had to change the volume pot. They hold up and hold their value well. I got lucky finding my so cheap. I want the Jaguar and the new '72 Tele's with the humbuckers.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

This is my third classic vibe, I also have a Jaguar and a tele style p-bass in addition to the newly purchased Strat in Sherwood Green. This guitar is great, it sounds like a strat in all positions. I was torn between the classic vibe and the G&L Tribute. I don't regret my choice. All three of the classic vibes I own are solid, good sounding instrumetns set up great right out of the box. If you're on the fence, buy it, you won't regret it. I can't compare it to a U.S. strat just because I haven't played one in so long. I have played a few MIM strats and it sounds better to me.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Have to say this was well worth the money. It has a good feel, not too heavy, the frets are some of the best I've played in the affordable range. Electronics seem to be clean after a year with no dirt or loss of sound when changing settings.

Action was pretty good, but I had zero feet buzz so after lowering strings just a bit it was great. Intonation was easy to set up as well. Tuners have been very good at keeping it in tune. I check often and it's usually spot on.

Color is just amazing for the price. I have the 50's with maple. Would buy again.
Sound is in my opinion exactly what a strat should be. I'm a clapton fan, for the money this gets me as close as I'm gonna get. You CAN spend a LOT more but I would say it compares very well to the MIM Strat. Hope this helps, and as ALWAYS, MF had a perfect transaction. Fast and packed perfectly.

This guitar looks and sounds amazing. This is better than any Mex Standard I have ever tried. Anyone who looks down on this because of the Squier name has either not played one or is flat out crazy! Great action, pickups, and neck (I have the maple one) too. I'm just really impressed with the quality, don't normally review anything but in this case had to. I have this thing hanging (proudly) between two American standards and it gets prob 10x the playtime.

This is one sweet guitar. I also purchased the Classic Vibe Tele 50's (just as exceptional). I have guitars from Parker (Nitefly) and Gibson (ES-345)and a high end Fender American Standard Strat. The Classic Vibe 50's Strat sounds and plays just as good as any of the ones I already own. The neck radius is perfect, the Alnico 3 is awesome sounding; no need to replace them. This is one well constructed instrument. You cannot go wrong if you pick one up. The price is amazing for what you get.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

My background is 40 years of playing and probably owned over a hundred guitars.

I got the white one with the gold anodized pick guard. It actually arrived in tune and strobed out accurately intonated! D'Addario strings too = nice. Very good workmanship and the fret work is quite well done with no sharp edges, and good polishing. Truss rod was perfect as checked with a straight edge. The guitar is very light in weight too which is always nice.

I had to use it within the week onstage in bone stock as issued condition when the jack on my main guitar failed (I had decided to carry the CV 50's as a backup since it was so light). To my surprise it actually sounded as good as the main guitar which has Duncan pickups! The only mods I will make is to add a steel tremolo block and USA pots, although they are really just desires as the stock parts work well and are quiet. I may also add some GFS pickups. All these mods are just because I am a tweaker - the guitar doesn't need anything.

The bottom line is that this guitar is an exceptionally good instrument at any price, and it motivates me when I play it! If the Squire label bothers you, then just either don't look at it or sand it off. The guitar is a keeper at any price.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

The Squire 50s vibe Strat ,one of those great surprises we all read about 10 years from know, and are sorry we didn't buy one! The quality of the workmanship on this guitar far exceed MIM Strats, and the standard . Even though we all seem to tend to shy away from China Production , it seems these (Crafted in China 50s Vibes )are worth every Penny, and more .
Right out of the box ,the feel and set up are there , very comfortable neck , and if you investigate this guitar further you will find that Tonerider Safaris are the chosen pickups ( similar to 54s , with a little more bite ) . This guitar is for Rock ,and Blues, so if your looking for a metal players guitar , Don't Look At This Guitar !
Sound wise ,it's a beauty those 50s Strat tones , Surfing , Rockin and Smooth !
