So far I've not had any problems with tuning as the other review has stated...and you have to keep in mind what this guitar's made for. I bought this guitar as a gift for my new girl on the way. As the technician was in the back setting it up, I heard a mean strat sound coming from the back. I thought that there was no way this guitar was the little hello kitty one that I was purchasing. It was! The technician had never set one up before and was quite impressed with its playability and sound. It's fast and has a really good strat tone. I own three other strats and I find it extremely comparable to my American Series strat in tone.I think that there is no better option for little ones to learn on. Just remember that its built for little ones with little hands, it's not meant to be beat up by guys who like to manhandle their guitars. That being said, I'm fairly certain it could withstand the beating that little ones tend to give out - a drop here and there probably won't hurt it.I bought this as a sentimental gift for my new daughter, but I just may sneak into her room to play it myself.

If you have never had any experience with smaller scaled guitars, you may want to know this key piece of info: They don't stay tuned. Even worse, this style doesn't even sound in tune when tuned. It's really a gimick. I bought this for my daughter for christmas and had to return it. That should tell you how bad it is.

Squier Hello Kitty Mini Strat...Awesome!

By Pete-4WQNt

from SoCal

I bought a pair of these on a whim, thinking it would be great to have a small, easily-stashable guitar.Factory Setup: Poor to nonexistent, but I had no trouble getting it set right. The neck is nice and straight, so setup was easy.Sound: Typical Strat sound. It sounds surprisingly very good.Finish: The body shape shows some very minor irregularies, probably due to sanding technique. The paint they used on this thing is awesome stuff. It's very tough and resistant to dings.Overall: Definitely a great buy. This is a real guitar, and not a toy. It fits in my bookcase at work, right next to my Line6 POD X3 and a pair of headphones. Fit one of these with some .08 strings, and it will be great for any young aspiring shredder. I bought one for my daughter, too.

It's actually got some rock to it

I was just messing around being your everyday metal head in the local music shop and decided to pick this up. I was expecting big hum, and a bad tone. I was blown away. I hooked it up to a line 6 and i started ripping dio on that thing. I actually think it's better than a squire strat mini regular.

BUY THIS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

DUDES!!!! i just picked this gem up at my local music store...and WOW!!!!! This guitar screams! This guitar is built like a tank, and it is built for soloing. I now use this guitar at all my gigs, while the les paul gathers dust on the shelf. I am seriously kicking myself for buying my les paul standard last summer, after I just got this obviously superior guitar. My rhythm guitarist begs me to use it at the gigs, but I just tell him "heck no! get your own dude!" this guitar just totally complements any lead guitarists sound who likes to play any form of Death Metal, Nu Metal, or anything else heavy. Seriously guys, get this guitar. The babes will be all over you.

Great little guitar for the price

By 1970GLP

I recently bought the Hello Kitty Squire Mini Strat Electric Guitar as a gift for my daugter. It has a very solid feel and sounds great right out of the box. It has the sound and feel of a quality musical instrument and definitly not that of a toy. The fretboard is laid out nicely so that it can occomidate both little hands and big clumbsy ones like mine as well.My daughter sometimes gets upset because I play this guitar more than she does. I can't resist becuase it is small and light and I can play it sitting in a chair at the computer or most anywhere. She finally got jelous and smashed it on the floor of our living room causing the screws in the neck to sepatate from the body. I quickly reattached the neck and after a few minor adjusments it is good as new. It does need a little extra attention to tuning but nothing worth complaining about. For the price you cant go wrong.

Decent instrument for the price

By T1PSTN

Fit and finish are good; frets are even and smooth, paint is flawless. The factory tuning machines are very poor and prone to slip. The sound is decent, very similar to a full-sized strat. The short scale makes for lower string tension, perfect for people with arthritis or very young beginners. Anyone can make real music with this guitar. Overall a very good value for the price and a fun, kicky pepto-bismol paintjob.

Amazing

By jazzmanTO

Bought this for my daughter. Opened it right out the box at the store, plugged it into a Fender Champion 600. The guy shredding next to us, stopped playing in disbelief, as the pink stuff started to let go incredible strat classic sound. I was surprised to no end. I have a HWY1 and a American Deluxe, so I know strat tone. The quality of the thing is unbelievable for the price. Now this is a tip for non-players DADs: Buy a string set that starts with .008. Tell this to the store guy he will know. I replaced the strings with 8s and my daughter is happily riffing right as I write (she never played before)

This is the most complex monster I have ever tamed. It puts my Gibson Custom Shop Black Beauty into a fit of hysteria driven by jealous rage. I can't believe the sonic deluge I summon from this grim reaper of tone. Every note brings me over the edge of a new plane of existence. I was totally blown away as I slid this beauty out of it's box; it's killer looks flooring me with it's awesome flamingo pink body and aggressive, snarling pickguard. I am in love with a demonic, musical entity that is unleashed as soon as I coerce the strings with my pick. Without a doubt the most daring and demanding guitar you will ever weild in the name of music. Buy it Buy It Buy It... if you think you can handle it!
