I have had this thing (black metallic, maple fretboard) for a short time and it rocks!

-Neck: The reason I bought a Strat in this price range is I wanted something with an unfinished neck, and this is perfect for me. The neck is thin, fast, smooth and non-finished, which I love! The only thing about the neck is the frets are a little bit sharp, and they kind of stick off the edge of the fretboard. But this is really no big deal.

-Body: Made out of agathis, the weight and feel of it is fantastic. I'm a Les Paul player of almost three years, and I wanted something different, and this is just what I was looking for.

-Hardware: Still has factory made hardware on it, but I don't care. The bridge, machine heads, pickguard, pickups, knobs and whammy bar all work awesome. The only thing I really don't like about this guitar is the whammy bar gets in the way when you want to do some palm-muting stuff, but I'll get over that soon. And even the strings; I'm going to swap the factory strings for some Ernie Ball Slinkies soon, but until then, these Fender gauge strings are holding up really well.

-Sound: People say single-coils can't handle lots of distortion, and they're right. That's why I use as overdrive pedal, and it sounds fantastic. It kind of sounds like Dream Theatre's John Petrucci (my hero) if you ad some flanger to it, which is quite cool.

-Overall: Like I said before, I'm an avid Les Paul fan, but this guitar works just as well if not better than my Epiphone Les Paul. I would definitely recommend this to anybody.

I found a wood chip embedded in the clearcoat on the back of the body of my guitar! Plus, the woodgrain didn't match too well, [I've got the sunburst finish] but I could live with that no problem, that's only cosmetic. THE THING that bothered me was the first fret was not straight - you could see it was not straight with the nut and the second fret! *BIG PROBLEM ON THE SQUIER* because the fingerboard and neck are integral - unlike most guitars, where you could replace the fingerboard. Because of this, the neck is junk!! The other thing is that one of the bushings in the body, where the bolts for the tremelo go, were so loose I could see it moving everytime I used the tremelo! Later, I loosened the strings, and NO WONDER IT WOULDN'T STAY IN TUNE, I could pull the tremelo up and down with that loose bushing!! Other than that, it's a great guitar. I mean, the bushing could be fixed pretty easily, but the neck was no good because of the first fret. It had a really good Fender sound, meaty headstock, nice finish on the body, fast neck with a flat oiled finish, decent machine heads, decent electronics - just too bad about the fret!

I ordered this guitar at far below MSRP. That said, MSRP would still have been well worth it. It is a fine instrument. Finish is great. Intonation/playability is nearly perfect out of the box. The neck is super-fast. I own several guitars and am proud to add this to my collection. Like all guitars, it has it's own unique sound(s). Love it.

Comments about Squier Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I received this level 3 strat in a timely fashion and found it looked great and the neck felt great.
There was a minor nick in the body and some stringy material under the coating. The color was beautiful and I wanted to keep this guitar. But the bridge was so unstable that tuning the guitar was mpossible and at the twelve fret nothing but fret buzz.. It was impossible to keep this guitar. So back it went with full cooperation from MF. I have had only one problem experience from MF and i have bought lots of gear from them. Still I have squires that play nearly every bit as good as my MIA, but this was not one of them and to be fair the price was a fair deal.

Comments about Squier Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

If I could get one without major defects, that has been finished well, this would be a stellar value at this price point. The feel of the neck is quite good. The first one I received was beautiful. I was so very impressed. It had impeccable finish, body and neck. It set up well. Then I saw that the strings were offset to the high side of the neck, such that the high E string was right at the edge of the fretboard. This made it ticky to play as the string would easily slide off the fretboard. The replacement guitar was received and it had some minor issues with the finish, enough to bug me, and when attemtping to set it up, I found the truss rod inneffective. It would simply spin freely without adding any relief. I may try again to get a good one, but not through an Internet source. I have local options so I can check out the quality.

Bought this guitar from the local music works shop and at first there no problems with playing it, but a week later i discovered a split in neck wood where it joins on to the body ( a guitar tech told me that this due to poor quality wood). This isn't good enough...i took the guitar back to the shop where i had purchased it from
and got myself a second hand jackson pc 3 for roughly around the same price and have had no problems!

Comments about Squier Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought the antique burst with rosewood fret board. It arrived this afternoon at my door step, everything was packaged tight and sound. The guitar is beautiful not a scratch or blemish no where.

So I tuned it up and played it through my Epiphone 15 watt amp with treble and overdrive. It sounds so good I could not put it down, only now to write this review.

Intonation is spot on the Fender strings are fresh and sound great. the neck is straight and string height is spot on per Fenders factory specs.

Every note is clean no buzz, no high frets or anything to nit pick about. This humble little Squire plays and sounds better than my friends American Stratocaster.

My friend is ordering him a Squire standard in antique burst also, said that he is shocked at the quality and fit and finish are all top notch.

The alnico pickup's sound so good it is hard to describe, modern yet that original early sound that everyone loves from a Fender Stratocaster, It's that good for sure.

It's all Fender original sound and playability, why is it sold at such an affordable price? It is put together in Indonesia. "Rest assure" It is a genuine Fender through and through.

After all Fender put their name on the head stock, plus it is backed by Fender's warranty and Sweet-water has a free two year warranty back up also. Get this guitar you will not be disappointed. Fender you nailed this remarkable Fender guitar.

Comments about Squier Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

E,B, AND G strings are cut too high in the nut, which can be repaired ...however the guitar de-tunes itself after just a few chords or notes and I haven't touched the tremolo bar! The E,A,and D strings may be cut too deep, causing high action to avoid fret buzz which means the first 3 strings are in the atmosphere and play SHARP from the nut to the 5th fret and FLAT after the 12th...also requires too much relief in the neck for comfortable play...so far it's a know show.
