I bought this cause I was sick of all the standard shaped acoustic guitars and it had a little flair. When I went to change the strings I pulled out the bridge pins & three of them snapped in the hole. Once I got them out it was fine. I bought some d'Andrea brass tone pins with mother of pearl inlay, they look and sound great on the guitar. Also the action was a litttle high, but I had a setup done on it, it plays great now. I thought I might have been a little dissapointed on the acoustic aspect but I was totally wrong it sounds great, but I was dissapointed on the electric aspect though, it sounds a little funky on an amp and you get a lot of feedback with distortion.

I bought the Squier Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar as a Christmas gift to myself. I returned it the same day it showed up at my door.My first impressions were good. It looked pretty nice and the build quality seemed pretty good. It seemed like a solidly built guitar. There were a few spots that were "rough around the edges" but for the most part it was ok.However, once I strummed my first chord, I knew it was time to go back. I played on it for an hour or so trying to make myself like it but just couldn't. The sound quality was pretty bad. It sounded more like a toy than a guitar. I'm not sure what it would have sounded like plugged into an amp (my amp was backordered) but I can't imagine it being a whole lot better. The tone was really bad. I realize that it's not going to sound like a full size acoustic Martin... but I think it could be a lot better. One thing I did like about it was its playability. Very easy to play. The action was good. I'm used to traditional acoustics.I would recomend staying away from this guitar. Spend a few extra bucks and get something you'll be happy with.

Worst. Sound. Ever.

A friend of mine had this guitar for a while, and it made our jams absolutely painful. The sound is tinny and weak, with almost no bass to speak of. Even when plugged into an (admittedly mid-range) acoustic amp, it gets a ton of feedback. Honestly, you get the worst of both worlds with the Stratacoustic. As someone who is a huge fan of Fender electrics and who plays acoustic quite a lot, I would never even consider recommending this, even to a beginner.

Stratacoustic Electric Guitar Plugged IN

By Penny-9.h2C

from Arlington, Ohio

I am a guitar teacher and I bought this guitar used from someone who knew nothing about guitars. She only owned it a few months. I did replace the bronze strings. They were not easy to play, and I can see why she couldn't or didn't want to play it. But, when I replaced the stings with Dean Markley Medium Nickel, it plays much better. Believe me, the strings do make the difference. If you are looking for a big sound with this little guitar, you have to plug it in to your amp, otherwise, you won't get much. When I plugged mine in, I was happier with the overall sound. There are four equalizers made by Fishman and that helps with whatever sound you want.Overall, the size is great for a lady player or for a student with smaller hands. I would receommed this to my beginning students instead of a regular acoustic.

Awesome guitar!!

By Drey

I love this guitar!!! I bought this guitar this year. When it arrived, I changed the strings and that was the only change that needed to be made. It came with bronze strings and I replaced with nickel wound strings. It sounds great....booming acoustic sound!! Sounds great plugged in, as well. I read that someone sent it back the day it came and I don't understand why that happened. It's not meant for serious, professional play, but for jamming and practicing it just can't be beat!! It holds its tuning very well, also. I highly recommend it!

Good for beginners if anyone

I purchased the Fender Stratacoustic, not the Squier, although I am assuming they are exactly the same. This guitar is not good. Sounds good plugged in, but the build is very cheap and the parts barely even stay intact. I sent it back hours after I recieved it.

Great guitar for the money

It's an okay guitar but it doesn't have too many features. Great for the price and it lasts a long time. I've had mine for like 6 years. Great beginner guitar

Pretty nice guitar

I bought this guitar out of a last desperation move before I bought Fishman pickups for my strat. Happily, I pulled this out and was surprised at the sounds. When you plug it in, you'll get feedback...that'swhat the volume knob is for! I have mine turned almost as low as possible. It's not too thin of a sound, either. Chane the strings and action to your liking. My only complaint is that the active electronics don't have an on/off switch.

Terrible

By gibsonlp12

from chattanooga, Tennessee

Its a really nice looking guitar, but that's all it has going for it. I havent bought one, but ive played quite a few of them and all of them sound absoloutely terrible. I know it's not me because i can play the same thing on any other acoustic and it can sound a lot better. I didnt expect it to play like a full size, but this is the worst sounding acoustic played in all 9 years that ive played guitar

Not worth the money

Cheaply made! Neck bends out of shape, and truss rod can't compensate. Sounds good plugged, but very ineffective as an acoustic. Do not buy!
