It's a good guitar, I can't believe how low the action is, one of my best cheap guitars that actually let you make runs right down the neck.
The Tele Custom is made in Indonesia, and has 2 humbuckers. The strait neck is unfinished with painted fret markers, the pocket has a good fit, and the tuners do their job. The bridge keeps the strings in place even with power chords and rapid stacato picking and extreme bending. The body finish is solid shiny black. This guitar has plenty of weight, and sustain. With Extra super light strings, the action is very low. Lower than many guitars at 5 times the price. The humbucking neck pick up is smooth while the bridge humbucker still has the tele treble tone. With extra light strings this guitar has jazzy buttery tone with a clean tube amp. And there is no hum! The selector switch can be replaced with a more robust toggler. But otherwise this guitar is built like a tank and can play R+B, Funk, Jazz and Rock easily. It is versitile, easy to chord and great for fast hammering and jazzy pull offs. I may have gotten one with an exceptionally low action and straight neck, but this would be great for a sit down studio session. For stand up gigging, I would suggest a lighter tone wood.
Good quality, heavy, low action, even the pick ups work well for jazz, blues and extreme rock.
Excellent value, this is my main tone monster. The unfinished neck plays fast with these strings, and the bridge keeps the strings in place.

My wife ordered one of these for me, back in 2007 for a X-Mas present ,which I thought was very sweet of her. When I took it out of the box, I knew I had to do some work on this one. I'm pretty sure that this was probably one that somehow slipped through the QC at the Squier Plant in Indonesia. Mine had fret edges sticking along the top of the neck and the stock bridge saddles were very wobbly, thus making it very difficult to keep it in tune. I ended up filing and resetting the frets and then replacing the bridge saddles with a set of Graph-tech Import Saddles which were quite a major improvement. The imput jack needed just a little bit of tightening along with the stock tuners, and the pickups needed a height adjustment . Once I took care of my slight repairs and did a intonation and setup, this guitar was good to go and to be honest, the stock humbuckers on this guitar are quite good. They can be a bit microphonic but, putting in some foil shielding on the inner body cavity should alleviate that problem. I've had mine for close to 4 years now and have used it at many gigs along with my MIA 2006 60th Strat and my recently acquired, Squier Standard Strat as well. Heck yeah, I'm a confirmed Fender and Squier guy and not ashamed of it.

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

This was a gift for my son and he is extremely pleased with the guitar. He loves the neck and overall playability. The seperate controls for each pickup give him a lot of versatility with tone. He said the pickup selector switch was over tightened, cracked the switch and would not move. He loosened it a bit and fixed the issue. Five stars if not for the switch issue.

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar 3 years ago; when I saw it at the local shop, I was curious about its unusual appearance, when I started to test it; I was sold... I don't own really expensive guitars...but I own MIM Fenders and Electromatic Gretsch. And this Squier is as good as any of them, only different. What I like most of it is the neck, really playable. I will never sell this guitar.

    Great guitar and affordable

    By Cody Tichelkamp

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for 6 months and it's one of the greatest instrument purchases I made. Only problem I've experienced is the input jack gets loose (happens on my strat as well) but it's now a force of habit to tighten all of the input jacks on all of my guitars before I either play a live show or just a random session at my house. Pickups sound amazing, better than what I had expected with it being a Squier. Stays in tune fantastically, especially for the drop tuning I use it for. I like the dual volume/tone controls because I have the bridge pickup at 10 and the neck pickup at 0 to act as a killswitch for some Rage Against the Machine stuff. It's got that crunch that I've been looking for for years. I was originally going for an Epi SG but this guitar caught my eye the minute I walked into my local guitar store. I don't plan on getting rid of this guitar anytime soon

    GREAT-SOUNDING TELE VARIATION

    By chosen

    from Philadelphia

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

didnt really plan on buying this axe, but it came at a deep-discounted price, and with a coupon i sprang for it. Didnt expect much out of it - 2 humbuckers, it wont sound like a tele at all. Man, was i surprised - this thing is chimey! The pickups sound clean, obviously not overwound like most generic pickups- theyre definitely NOT hot, which lends to a delicate-sounding guitar, very close to what a single coil sounds like. Weak? not so! Its a tele, for cryin out loud, you dont play metal with this. If you do, then swap out those pickups, better yet swap out the guitar. But on its own, it gives a traditional guitarist a great-sounding guitar for a great price. Yep its surprisingly good!

    nice ax for cheap

    By mrguitar2u

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

This tele is a great guitar for the money. Agathis body and the bridge pup gives you a fat strat sound without sounding thin and both pups give you great lead tones. only thing is the original 1972 deluxe had a strat like headstock. I am planning on replacing the neck with the original 72 style.the squier necks are not that great. other than replacing the neck only thng i may do is replace the neck pick up with a PAF with phase in/out. BUY this guitar

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

Bought one of these as a replacement guitar about 5 years ago. Still use it to this day. The intonation had to be reset about 2 years ago, but other than that, I've had no problems with this very reliable instrument. Excellent tonal quality, wonderful fret action, durable electronics. Love the independent tone and volume knobs, and for having cheapo tuners, it stays in tune rather well. I have found it to be suitable for all styles, from country to metal. Definitely a great guitar for the price.

    After all

    By MM-Febni

    from San Salvador, El Salvador

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

i bought this guitar because it looked good in the pictures and i took my risk by basing me on the reviews only. when i 1st opened it looked great, i just adjusted the action and it seemed i was ready to rock on. when i first plugged it in my amp it sounded and felt great until i turned the volume up on my amp. a squealing sound began and it only happened when the volume was half up. it took me a while to find out wat the problem was. it was the pickups. it seemed they were not properly waxed. the solution was to heat the pickups and let the was fill every single corner on the pickup. i dont why both pickups were like that but anyways i can now play with high volume and ive not had a problem since that tinny episode. i would highly recommend this guitar to any starter or intermediate guitar player. the pickups sound great and the neck is smooth and it stays perfectly in tune. the separate volume and tone controls for each pick up is a great feature for this telecaster. if this guitar was stolen from me i would definetely buy the same because you cant beat this guitar for the very low price it has.

Poorly set up, but well worth the $$$

Comments about Squier Tele Custom Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for over a year now. When I got it, it had a few loose screws (literally), and the pickup selector wasn't completely attached. That's nothing a few commonly found tools can't fix. After I threw on new strings (10s) and adjusted the action, it was perfect. I usually save this guitar for when I want some distortion. The clean tones aren't that great, but I have a Fender tele for those. If you play any rock style and need a cheap axe, get this.
