Takamine C132-S

Features:

I bought this guitar new in 1995. Love it! The only reason I give this guitar an 8 is the lack of a pickup system. My apologies to the purists, but a good pickup system is just easier than a mic.

Quality:

Top notch. My favorite classical guitar of any I've played in 38 years of experience. Neck plays great. Fingerboard is great. The guitar itself makes me play more accurately. Sounds beautiful. I record with this guitar with great results (use new strings).  I love playing this guitar.

Value:

I couldn't say, but I know that the value of my C132-S is in the great sound and playability. It always stands apart from other classical guitar I play. These are the things that make a guitar valuable to YOU!

Overall:

What a find! I just wish it had a pickup system. I love this guitar.

In 1977 I bought a C-132S for $250 including the hard case.  I only knew a couple of chords but the guy at the music store said this was a very good guitar.  I eventually chose classical music as my preferred venue.  Over the years the sound board has changed to a dark honey color.  The tone is as wonderful now as when it was new. Maybe even better.  Recently, it developed a crack by the sound hole but I stuck a cleat on the crack and it's OK. I have played many classical guitars from the cheapest to some of the most expensive and in my opinion this is one of the best ever made.  Takamine makes an excellent guitar. I've played several of their steel string acoustics and they are fantastic also. If you are looking for an excellent classical guitar for a reasonable price, I highly recommend the C-132S.

A Classic Classical Guitar

Some time in the early 1990s, the secretary at work brought in her guitar, which she was selling. I didn't know much about guitars at the time but wanted to learn an instrument, so I made her an offer for what turned out to be a 1981 Takamine C-132S, made in Japan, with a hard-shell case. She sold it for an ultra-reasonable price, and it became the first of several guitars I now own. The playability and tone are excellent, and I was surprised at how much volume it had--considering how light in weight it was. It is a beautiful guitar, especially the cedar top, with a fine grain and smooth gloss finish. The action is a bit higher than I like, but that is usual for a nylon-string classical. BTW, it has also kept its value quite well over the years, and the tone has really mellowed and improved. I would sell this guitar only if destitute with nothing  to eat! I highly recommend it.

I have one of the original 1980's models and it has held up well over the years. The sound now that it is well aged rivals much more expensive guitars. I have been very happy with the playability and sound.

I just received the Takamine Concert Classic 132S Acoustic Guitar as a gift and as a hobbyist guitarist I have to say this instrument is great if a little expensive. Out of the box it tuned up nicely with great action, tone and volume.  The bodywork is flawless and the case is great.  The tuners are moderate, but as a hobbyist they'll do the job for me. It's likely that I'll never need another guitar.  Very nice.
