Takamine

The feel of a small-bodied guitar that yields impressive performance.

The Takamine EF440SCGN NEX Antique Acoustic-Electric Guitar combines the quality and beauty of Takamine guitars with surprising affordability. The guitar is built on the NEX cutaway platform, a signature Takamine design. The top has a pleasing, rounded profile that is narrow at the waist, yet broad behind the bridge, creating a soundboard that offers a balanced frequency response with deep bass, clear treble, and a sweet, round midrange. The EF440SCGN guitar body carries the depth of a dreadnought to ensure a great level of volume.

This Takamine Guitar starts with a solid cedar top for great warm vintage tone right out of the box. The back and sides are mahogany. The tuning machines are nickel for precision tuning. And at the heart of every Takamine professional series guitar is a state-of-the-art electronics system, which starts with a palathetic pickup built into the bridge and ends with the Takamine preamp system.

The CT4B analog solid-state preamp features 3 EQ bands and a volume control. Tone shaping is done very easily with a user-friendly graphic EQ, with bass, midrange and treble slide controls. The volume is also on a slider. Another great feature on this preamp is the built-in chromatic tuner. The tuner-on button also acts as a mute control for silent onstage tuning. It is also incredibly useful for non-standard and open tunings. The Takamine EF440SCGN NEX cutaway guitar comes out of the box looking and feeling like a well-worn old friend. The antique stain and the light satin finish give it that pure vintage feel and vibe. Includes case.

I have always liked Takamine guitars... it seems that you can always get decent sound for a decent price.  HOWEVER, this guitar takes the cake!!!

I was looking for a new guitar, and played quite a few.  Gibsons, Fenders, Deans, Epiphones, and everything in between.  I was looking for an acoustic/electric with a nice, bright sound.  Most everything had too much bass, or was muted in the mid-range.  But when I played the EF440SCGN, I immediately knew that was the sound I was looking for.  I managed to get it for a very competitive price, and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT.  Sounds great mic'd, or plugged in.  fantastic action, stays tuned, and I love the finish.  The dark satin finish really puts the finishing touch on this guitar.

I would reccomend this guitar to anyone looking for the perfect a/e

This exquisite instrument boasts a flawlessly finished, solid Cedar wood top with an antique stain, solid wood Mahogany back and sides. The straightforward electronics are easy-to-use and include an accurate tuner. Plus, the sound plugged through my Roland AC90 Acoustic Amp is so lush. This guitar shines unplugged as well. The set-up and playability has to be experienced to be truly appreciated for a guitar of this quality at such a great price. All, I can say is "WOW"! What an amazing instrument ans such a value. There is nothing stenciled on the pickguard. The protective plastic, just needs to be ppeled off.

A solid wood, Japanese-made Takamine (w/HSC) for this price? Unbelievable! I've had this a couple weeks and am loving it. The combination of solid cedar top, solid mahogany back/sides, and the NEX shape make for a warm and balanced tonal range. Electronics are fine, and the built-in tuner is spot on. This thing stays in tune way better than my old G-series. Fit and finish appear flawless, and the cedar top is beautifully bookmatched. The only place that they appear to have cut corners is in the decorations: the rosette and stripes around the binding look like they're painted instead of inlaid, but that doesn't affect the tone. My only gripe is the logo stenciled onto the pickguard...tacky! That can be replaced, though. Buy one before they raise the price!

I've been an upright jazz bassist for 13 years so i know my acoustic tones. So about this...Very warm tone, I've had it now for about a week but since the first strum I've been impressed and cant wait for the wood to age to get an even fuller tone. It is made in Japan not korea so its a large step up from the G series and honestly I don't know why this thing does not cost at least double this price (like some of its sisters). I would highly recommend it. The pre amp also sounds amazing compliments the warm tone of the guitar nicely. I think I got an amazing guitar for an amazing price and you will too if you purchase it. And yes its a satin finish very beautiful and sexy! Everybody loves it including myself so get it!

I have owned several high-end acoustics, including a Breedlove Revival DM and a Baden, and this Takamine comes close to that magic "mahogany back and sides" tone that makes those instruments so responsive and toneful.  Great playability, beautiful tone both acoustically and amplified.  An outstanding value!
