Comments about Takamine EG124C G Series Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:
I have owned a TAK EF349 since 1977. I have played it in the Canyons of UTAH and Mountains of WYOMING. The sounds it makes are still SO RICH AND SO BEAUTIFUL! So I got this TAK, for a different musical emphasis for our Praise Band...which needs a tad bit more meditative/reflective music. I am not going to be disappointed! Nor will my church! I would say Takamine is a name that has been and always will be in the production of quality, long lasting products. This new EG124 will definitely be bring the sound that I have dreamed of making for a long time FOR A LONG TIME! For the cost, plus the great incentive discount from MF, I am a happy camper. And I am so glad that Takamine has continued making quality for all these years.
I actually got this guitar right before I went to PB, took it out of the box, tuned it (and it took about 20 minutes because of the new strings), and took it to PB practice, PLUGGED IT INTO THE SOUND SYSTEM, and wow, how awesome the sound, feel and joy playing it brought to me. And it sounded awesome in the sound system. Thank you Takamine! Thank you Musicians Friend! Merry Christmas!

Comments about Takamine EG124C G Series Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:
This guitar was a class 4 reject by MF because of the tuner detent not working and a scratch or two. Sounds worse that it was. I took a chance and it paid off.
Scratches rubbed out, and I use and prefer a Snark tuner anyway. The pickup and everything else was just fine, so I got a great price, quick, free shipping and the tax covered. I can't complain!
Not as great sounding as my '93 Takamine classical, but sounds great plugged in, not bad when not, and the cutaway is neat. Made you know where, but well built and looks great. I would not take my '93 C123-S to a picnic or outing, but this one is perfect for that purpose.
Comments about Takamine EG124C G Series Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:
I'm looking into the problem w/buzzing, but I still feel this is a good guitar, and recommend it. The sound heretofore is very articulate acoustically, but not as 'warm' as regular full shaped classicals. You can get it to that warm place w/the proper amplification. I'm using a Fishman Loudbox Mini w/very satisfying results. All the string/fretboard cures for the buzzing haven't work, and the problem doesn't translate electronically, so i'm still trying to cure that. The build-quality, still, seems a step above Yamaha's in this price range, and there are no issues w/playabilty.
I want to say first off to clear confusion from previous h/c reviews, that it's not a 'suggestion' that this is a 'Plywood Spruce' top guitar, it's a fact. When I bought it, it was described as a 'solid spruce', both here and at the Takamine site. I got confirmation of the error at both sites, and was not confusing it w/the solid top version of the guitar. Since then, they both sites corrected the description. The electronics on my eg124c, moreover, is the basic Tp-4t. Everything else is as described.
I think this guitar is of good quality, however, I'm getting a phantom buzzing coming from the sound whole that's not, I believe, caused by the fretboard/string alignment that I need to investigate further. Maybe other owners know what I'm talking about, and can tell me what it is.
When working properly, a better than average value. The guitar's strength is its versatility.

Comments about Takamine EG124C G Series Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar:
Laminated spruce top and Natio back and sides and assembly in China help keep the cost of this G series Takamine down. Compared to Yamaha's in this price range Takamine is bit better sounding and the build quality seems a bit higher. Setup was great out of the box, built in tuner is very handy. The sound here is very nice is kind of ringy as opposed to deep. Only compliant is the tuners are generic and cheap, but they are easy enough to replace. It's not a $3000 master built classical, but it is one of the nicer budget classicals that I've found, it's a good product from a good company I'm very happy with it and I'm pretty hard to please.
