I purchased this guitar about 8 months ago not knowing really what to expect. I was just learning how to play the guitar so I needed a good beginners guitar. Well let's just say I wasn't expecting near the quality of a guitar that I got. It was a great guitar to start off with and now 8 months later I'm still loving it. I have many friends who've been playing the guitar their whole lives (who own 2-3,000 dollar guitars) who have actually asked to borrow my guitar to use for gigs all over state. Everyone who's played/seen it has been highly impressed. Including (especially) me!! Buy this guitar!Favorite Features- Built in Tuner(everyone's gotta love that) Beautiful paint job Sounds great plugged in and by itself Complete control (when plugged in) over master volume, individual bass, mids, and highs (then there's always the EQ bypass)

I purchased a takamine G series as my first guitar. After being told by the salesman that its sound is amazing and a very good investment. I went to my first guitar lesson. My teacher then told me that I made a bad purchase. He said that the sound was horrible. I didn't really pay much attention to it, but the more I played with other people and heard other guitars, it was more than evident that the muffled noise coming from my Takamine was severely sub par. Everyone has told me to sell it and buy something else. I don't know if I just happened upon a lemon or if this peticular type of guitar is poorly made. If you are a first time purchaser, take someone you trust with you to test the guitar.

My first takamine

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

The blue eg540 is my first takamine. Except for the intonation in the low E and the B strings being a little off, it's not really that bad. I had the nut worked on. It helped. It does help the sound if it's plugged in. It was smaller than the one I play at church. An ef341, that's nearly 25 years old. It has the same intonation problem, but it's not bad either. My eg540 doesn't have as loud a sound as the ef341, but for the money, you can't beat them.

Fine Axe

By Dustbuster

from Salem, OR

The EG540C comes with everything you would expect from a Takamine... for the money. The sound is decent, a bit tinny at times. The looks and feel of the guitar are outstanding. The neck is quite small, which can be a good thing, but the string spacing seems a little tight. The preamp and onboard tuner are superb. I am highly satisfied with my purchase, because of what I got for the money. If you are more interested in tone, I would recommend searching for something in the thousand dollar price range. Otherwise, I would say go for it.

One small problem

By Herman the german

from Hutchinson, MN

I'm writing this for others who may also have this problem. The Guitar had been wonderful for the first three months, then developed a terrible buzz from the bridge area. Investigation revealed that the brass nuts securing the bridge to the top were loose. they could not be tightened sufficiently as they were. I've added a flat and lock washer, and that seem's to have taken care of the problem, but time will tell. Otherwise, very satisified with this product.

PLUG IT IN

By Deadalast

from Daytona Beach

Yes, this type of guitar is designed to plug in 100% of the time, but plug it in to a EON G2, and you will be amazed at the quality tone. I do not even need to use the notch filter, because I have had zero feedback.

Bang for your Buck!

By Koko

from Carbon County, PA

Bought this guitar online and was blown away by not only the looks but by the playability. I immediately changed the strings. (though factory strings still sounded good)It sounds unbelieveable with Elixer Polyweb lights on it.Love the onboard tuner-works well. Only problem I had was that it doesn't sound totally full unplugged but for me it is not a problem because I play 98% plugged in anyway (sounds great plugged in.) The other bummer is that there is only one know for a strap but thats a .99 cent thing. Got lots of compliments on stage about the plugged in sound and finish from other musicians and crowds.

A solid acoustic

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

It has a bright sound, which is pretty cool. It lacks some depth, however, and the strings sound pretty dull. The built-in tuner is a really cool thing, and the guitar is comfortable to play. It sounds pretty good plugged in. It like the guitar, but it's nice to balance it out with another fuller-sounding acoustic, perhaps more of a dreadnought. It's nice, but not perfect.

Bruce springsteen plays a Taki... and so do I.

By Anonymous

I have always been a diehard Taylor fan, but recently while shopping for another guitar, my mind was changed. This takomini was half the price and sounded twice as good. If you want a nicely finished, beautiful soundin guitar, this is the one.

I think this guitar is well built and sounds great

By ThePianoMan

from Mclean, Virginia

This is such a great guitar. i mean for one it's a Takamine and its sound is so rich through any amp. They did a really great job on the acoustic electric pick up system, i like they you plug your chord in from the back where you put your strap on. The colors are much darker and a lot nicer in real life. They are very appealing guitars to play and to look at, so all your friend can be like whoa look at that guitar. The only drawback is that it comes with dull sounding strings, and if you play to close to the amp with the guitar strings facing towards it, you get feedback. You can fix that by playing a lil further away, turn up the bass notch and it's like surround sound with an acoustic. all in all, you should really get this guitar, it's great.

The guitar is awesome, sounds great, excellent factory strings, those are hard to come by sometimes. An overall really great deal for such a good quality guitar, buy one and you will not be disappointed.
