Excellent guitar for a minimal investment

    Features:

Aesthetically a very attractive guitar. Just enough appointments to make it classy but not overdone. The preamp and EQ work very well and the on board tuner is a plus.

    Quality:

This guitar is very well made. The fit and finish rivals much more expensive guitars.

    Value:
    Overall:

This guitar is an excellent value for the money. I own several other "high end" guitars namely a Taylor 410ce LTD R and a Martin J40. The EG363SC Takamine can hold its own against either of them. The action, playability, and intonation are stellar for a guitar in this price range and it is a cannon unplugged. The preamp and EQ work nicely through a Fender Acoustasonic SFX and I'm finding it to be my guitar of choice for amplified applications. The Martin and Taylor may still shine for critical recordings but this guitar also has a voice of its own that works very well in the studio. I am predominately a fingerstyle player (aka James Taylor) but do occasionally flatpick and this guitar responds well in both situations. The aesthetics of this guitar are amazing...I personally like the D-35 style 3 piece back. It has just enough inlay and binding to make a statement but not overdone. Overall, I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone needing a back up guitar to their main axe or wanting to upgrade from an entry level instrument.

not as good as it looks

    Features:

Features of the 363 is was drew me to the guitar.  I never got the chance to appriciate them as I had hoped.

    Quality:

visually the 363 is very stunning.  You would find a better looking guitar in this price range.  I give a low rating due to the recieving several guitars with the same problem.  This comes down to how the either the guitars are being stored prior to shipping or the quality control of the guitars coming out of the factory or being shipped from over seas.  Either way, Takamine should be concerned about the problem and make necessary changes.

    Value:
    Overall:

After weeks of research and deliberation I desided on the 363 and ordered the guitar through MF.  I recieved it in the mail and upon opening the box found the guitar was as visually appealing as I would hoped would be.  The wood on the back of the guitar and the inlays were breath taking.  I was excited to take it for a test run.  Tuned the strings and found that all the strings had either a buzz or a dead sound from about the 11 fret to the 14 fret.  took it to the local guitar shop and was informed the guitar had a hump in the neck that would be costly to repair.  Sent the guitar back and recieved another a week later.  Luck would have it this one had the same problem, took it to a different guitar shop. The tech's there diagnosed the same problem.  so I sent it back and recieved another; was hoping that the 3rd would be a charm.  Well I was wrong, the 3rd 363 had the same problem.  I have concerns that the quality control of the G series coming from China are not as good as indicated at Takamines web site.  I returned it to MF and decided to give up my hopes of owning a Takamine G series guitar.

    Features:

This guitar has a nice mix of features, both acoustic and plugged in. The woods and hardware are nice and the electronics, while basic, get the job done.

    Quality:

The quality of this guitar is excellent for its price range. There was no visible glue and all the bracing and fit looked excellent. The finish was really well done and alth9ugh poly, was not thick or sloppy in any way. As I said before the electronics are basic but they sound good plugged in without alot of quack that peizo pickups can have. The built in tuner is also plus.

Even though the back and sides are laminates, they look really good and the sound is solid.

    Value:

You get a whole lot for your money. It is beautiful and very good sounding guitar.

    Overall:

I own some Taylors and a Martin D-28, and while this guitar doesn't sound quite as nice as those, it sounds great for an <$1000 guitar. I bought this for a friend and I had a budget to stick to. I played several guitars in this price rage and liked this the best. To be honest, I thought it was just Ok in the store. I put a set of Martin Marquis on it and adjusted the neck and what a difference! It really sounded a lot better with a bigger low end. It really impresses me. My friend is a worship leader and he used it in church and it sounded really good plugged in. I can't recommend this guitar enough. It really is good.

I have owned this guitar for 6 months now.      When i first played this guitar i thought it was the best      sounding guitar for the price. I compared almost all the acoustic      electric guitars in the same price range and this one beat the others by      far. Also the playability was good too. But i was so lured by its sound      and how easy it was to play that i didnt examine the guitar closely      enough. First of all, all strings buzzed from the 11th fret to around      the 15-16th. Some of those buzzez were really bad so i took it to my      luthier to fix them.....instead he just told me to take it back cuz the      frets were just trash, but it was too late to return it. In the end i      payed to refret it. It was well worth it as my guitar now plays like      magic!!! This guy doesn't mess around and has over 40 years experience.      Now im as happy as i can be, it sounds good and it plays like a dream      and not a single buzz. ALSO if you think that i just got a defective      unit, think again. I read other reviews over the internet and one on      guitar center.com which described the same problem i had with the      buzzing on all strings from the 12th fret to 15-16. I tried to get      takamine to fix it but the shipping was over $100 and just to get an      evaluation!!! Instead i just put those $$ towards getting a quality      job. Lastly, the guitar sounds really nice but its a little bit too      quiet for a dreadnought. Hope this helps!
