Taylor

An affordable grand auditorium with a solid spruce top, sapele laminate back and sides, and Taylor ES-T electronics.

Like the 200 Series, the 114ce Sapele/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar incorporates laminate back and sides, which offer extra resilience to fluctuating climate conditions, and a slightly narrower 1 11/16-inch neck. It’s one of the best full-size guitars you’ll find for the money, especially with the availability of Taylor’s ES-T® pickup. It makes a viable performance tool, a great entry-level guitar, or a second utility guitar for alternate tunings.

Tonewood
As a guitar soundboard, or top, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. It’s used on 85-90 percent of the guitars that Taylor makes. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking. Sitka spruce is Bob Taylor’s personal favorite for an all-around great guitar.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor’s most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic’ing and recording, the GA’s balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Taylor ES-T
Devloped by the same Taylor team that invented the Expression System pickup, the Taylor ES-T Under-Saddle Transducer takes piezo technology to another level. Optimized for the 100 and 200 Series, the system features onboard Bass, Treble, and Volume controls plus custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response.

Comments about Taylor 114ce Sapele/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar has an awesome bright sounds. Before I purchased it I watched a youtube video comparing the 114ce and 214ce, and I actually liked the 114ce sound better and so did most of the people commenting on the video.

I've had a few friends try my 114ce out and it inspired them to want to look for a new guitar for themselves.

Comments about Taylor 114ce Sapele/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I received this guitar as a gift. I wanted a good quality back up guitar. However the more that I play this the more I really like it. The neck is outstanding. People have said that Taylor's play like an electric and after spending some time with it I would definitely agree. I can play barre chords higher up on the neck with no difficulty at all. I am amazed that a laminate guitar can sound this good. Every note is clear and crisp. It stands up to heavy strumming but also articulates each note wonderfully when finger picked. I did a bit of research and found out that this "Mexican" guitar is made about a 40 minutes drive from the main U.S plant so quality control is taken seriously. If you are looking for a quality guitar that will stand up the constant changes in humidity that playing out will bring to a wooden instrument I highly recommend that you consider this guitar.

The pros and cons list it all. The only trouble with this guitar is that some of the stock strings sound very harsh when played by finger. Hoping to replace them soon

I did not care if the electronics worked or not at the time. I plugged it in for the first time and from what I told it had great sound. You wont be dissapointed at all.

Comments about Taylor 114ce Sapele/Spruce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm by no means an expert guitarist but I've been playing for about 4 years and decided it was time to upgrade from my old Yamaha. After searching for months, going to various music stores to play around on multiple guitars, looking at reviews, and asking other guitar friends I finally decided on the Taylor 114ce. I love the bright clear sound it gives! It compares, and if not exceeds, almost any other guitar near its price range (I considered buying up to $1200). I haven't had it long enough to know its durability but it seems to be good. All in all a great guitar and you won't be disappointed.
                      So in short,
                      Pros:
-Excellent sound! Very clear and bright!
-Came ready to go from factory (Elixir 80/20 bronze strings with nanoweb coating)
                      -Great look and feel
-Included gig bag was much better than I expected

                      Cons:
-Basically nothing, but not having a built in tuner can be annoying

Don't waste your time doing any more searching, just buy this one. You will not be disappointed.

You cannot find a better guitar for the money. This guitar has a great bright sound and is easy to play. Sounds even better through a P.A. or acoustic amp. I would buy this guitar again. So happy with this product.

Very disappointment with the quality of this guitar. The finish on the top will not withstand a heavy strummer. You'll start picking the wood right off the front. I reached out to Taylor and they basically told me to contact a local repair shop. The local shop told me it is between 300 - 350 to repair it. I then posted both comments on their facebook page and they were taken down. Don't buy this guitar if you are going to get on it.

This guitar is amazing. Everything about it; looks, playability, and the SOUND! Honestly this guitar might be the best bang for your buck right now. The sound is more on the bright side, but if you want a warmer and deep tone when you plug in, just turn down the treble a tad and turn up the bass. This guitar is great for all styles and I don't see a need to upgrade later in the future because this thing truly delivers everything I want and need.
