This is the finest guitar that I have ever played. I was not looking for a guitar to mimic the sound any other guitar, but rather, a unique sound that would improve upon my Gibson ES-335. I play mostly classical music on electric guitars (clean). Before I purchased the T5 the 335 was my instrument of choice. No longer. Setting the pickups in series gives me exactly what I was looking for. As far as quality, Taylor is unsurpassed.

I bought my T5 w/maple top in 2005 thinking it was the coup de gras of acoustic/electric guitars. I also bought the Roland AC60 at the recommendation of the guitar mgr at GC. I soon discovered that the action was terrible, the g-string buzzed horribly and I wasn't satisfied with the tone thru the Roland amp. I never achieved an acoustic tone despite all the hoopla. GC sent it back to Taylor for set-up and when it came back it was better but not what one expects for the price tag. I adjusted the neck myself and improved it a bit but the g-string still stood out like a sore thumb. The Roland amp had great effects but no bottom end. I achieved a better tone thru my cheap Kustom combo (w/celestion spkr) and my Fender Deluxe but still never found the acoustic nor the jazz tones I was looking for. A couple of years ago I bought an Ibanez Artcore Deluxe for which I paid less than $500 and I never took the T5 out of the case again. Last year I bought a Breedlove to satisfy my acoustic needs and traded the T5 for a Bose L1 Compact. Overall, the T5 is a beautifully constructed guitar and I guess there's always a lemon. I've come to conclude that one does not need to break the bank to own a nice guitar. If you're into status symbols that's fine. My Artcore Deluxe has bell-like tones I never got with the T5 and its a pure joy to play. If you want a true sounding acoustic/electric without having to buy additional effects to make it so, buy a Godin Multaic or an acoustic guitar w/built-in electronics.

Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
I'm on my second T5 and am thoroughly pleased. My first was a custom but with a spruce top. I love the look of the maple. However, the gold keys were nice on the custom. This is one of the best playing guitars I've ever owned and is a joy to play. The neck and action are great. The T5's are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I'm now in the market for a T3 to compliment this one. Another plus to this guitar is you won't have back problems after playing four hours a night. Goodbye Les Paul!
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
In 2005, I purchased my Taylor 614ceLC30 and entered the world of Taylor guitars. That guitar changed the way I play and the way I approach my study of the guitar. At the sticker price, it better! I was not disappointed as the guitar was worth every penny. At the time, the Taylor T5 had just hit the market. One T5 visited my local music shop just long enough for us to covet its looks before the owner came to pick it up. Now, four years later I came across a 2005 T5 S1 for sale at a music shop. I'd done my homework and realised this used T5 was priced competitively and appeared to be in excellent shape. I took my new baby to a Taylor technician for setup and he told me I bought a new guitar at a used guitar price. The T5 was loved by its previous owner and treated like the jewel it is -- not a ding, not a scratch. It has that wonderful Taylor feel, neck action is nice, electronics dead on. Yes, Taylor guitars are expensive and for many of us, worth that expense. In my case, waiting and shopping for the right model and price paid off. This guitar will remain in my collection for life.
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
I got this guitar about a year ago and have loved it. I can get amazing acoustic sounds out of it and the electric sounds are great too. The only thing that bugged me about it was when I got it the battery plate in the back rattled but that can be easily fixed. Overall this guitar is worth the money so save up!!

I went to a guitar store in town after pawning my "old" Ibanez guitar for gas $$ ! and i was lookin for a new guitar. I looked through the selection of acoustics and ONE stood out of the others. The Taylor T5 in red. i picked it up and plugged it in. The sound is so superb that i cant say there is a better guitar out there at this time.. The price is a variable, but its so worth it! I have found my "Better half".. and it has a custom guitar case to boot !
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
I bought this guitar a year ago and have not regretted it. It really can replace an acoustic and an electric for a gigging musician. The only sound which I can think of that it can't produce is that of a strat....but that's not too big of an issue. The action is perfect, I love the short scale length, and the .11 Elixirs are good for electric and acoustic sounds. The case is not perfect, but it looks good. This guitar is extremely well-built and has great decorative touches without being gaudy. Overall, a wonderful guitar for a high price, but you get what you pay for, especially with Taylors.
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
A while ago I stopped in at a guitar center to try out some electrics, but the power had gone out. So, I started looking through the acoustics, and I picked this beauty up. I must say, I have never in my life seen or heard anything so beautiful. The singing tones of this guitar remind one of church bells, with amazing clarity and sustain. It is also no doubt one of the most beautiful instruments I have ever seen. I can not pick out a single downside. Expensive, yes, but worth twice what it costs. If you have the means, buy it now!
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
I recently purchased the T5 and I am amazed at how versatile this guitar is. I have bought expensive Les Pauls to lower end guitars trying to get the sound that this guitar provides. It's a dream to play and even though it's expensive, I'll never regret spending the money on this one.
Comments about Taylor T5 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Maple Top:
This is definatly the most versatile guitar you will get except maybe the Line 6 ones, but the acoustic sounds are amazing and the electic sounds are more than you'd hope for, the only downfall is the price, but I guess in the end it was all worth it.
