Comments about Washburn WD 20S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
The sound is very good for the price of this guitar. Stays in tune, rich sound, never flat. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to save on money and still purchase a quality great sounding guitar for many years of play.
Comments about Washburn WD 20S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
Don't hesitate to buy this acoustic. I'll stand by it and give this guitar a 10 on all levels. For the money I couldn't ask for more. It's hard to believe that I will keep this guitar for the rest of my life, but I have to say this is the one guitar I will never sell. It's also taught me an important lesson, dont ever judge the sound quality of a guitar based exclusively on the price.
There were no imperfections in the finish and body. The neck was correctly adjusted for light strings, perfectly straight. I changed the strings to mediums and had to only make a slight adjustment. That was a year ago, the guitar only recently requires a neck readjustment. This is the only guitar I've owned that held intonation for this length of time, pretty impressive for a clearance guitar.
The tuning keys are solid. I don't have many string choices at my local music shop, I primarily use martins. I can tune the guitar, play it hard for a week and the guitar will still be in tune. It's not case stored, I lean it up straight agains the wall when not in use. The fretboard has minimal splits, partly because I have only conditioned it one time. Some times I play high up on the fretboard around the 20th fret so I've worn off some of the finish which leads to splitting over time.
I'm dedicating the quality section of the review exclusively to playability and sound. I'm content with this guitar. I finger pick and strum, I play a wide variety of music, everything from Jeff Buckley to Radiohead to TOOL. The sound is very accomodating to all styles of music. It sounds great with and without a pick. The action is low, when properly setup there is 0 fret buzz on any frets, again this is the first guitar I've owned that's had 0 fret buzz. Maybe I've had lemons for every guitar I've owned and this is the first to be correctly assembled.
The guitar has a balanced sound; the projection is loud tonal lows are lows and the highs are high and crisp. Midrange is evenly balanced. You can apply different pressure to the lows and midrange when playing and the guitar produces a jangly sound. This guitar will outplay every acoustic within the 600-800 price range that I've played before. It is my first washburn, in the past I've had fenders, alvarez, takamine, I prefer the sound of the washburns.
I bought this guitar over a year ago from musicians friend while on clearance
Comments about Washburn WD 20S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:
The only complaints I have with this guitar are the defective truss rod and the imperfect top. I kept it rather than return it, because it sounds so good. If I had paid much more for it, I probably would have returned it. However, for the money, one can't go wrong with this guitar.
Beautiful rosewood back and sides, nice rosetti and striking headstock. Good tuners, half butterbean style. Spruce top isn't flat and straight but not bad for the money.
Action is great. Perfect intonation. Sound is fantastic. However, the truss rod is defective. As a result, the neck can't be brought up to perfection, something I always strive for. Doesn't hurt the sound, though.
Bought this guitar for one to play around the house. Own and have owned several other instruments including Martin, Gibson, Guild, & Taylor guitars. This is my favorite to pick up and play for fun.
