OVERVIEW

A Grand Auditorium style guitar with a cedar top, abalone trim, and Fishman Preamp.

The Washburn WG 16SCE Grand Auditorium Cutaway acoustic-electric guitar sports a solid cedar top with an all-mahogany body for exceptionally well-balanced sound in its modest price range. The mahogany neck has a smooth rosewood fingerboard dressed with dot inlays. The Fishman Isys+ Tuner/Preamp electronics makes the WG 16SCE Grand Auditorium Cutaway ready for plug and play performance in any venue either with an amp or PA. Construction details you wouldn't expect to find at this price include scalloped quartersawn braces, a bridge of rosewood, smooth die-cast chrome tuners, and saddle and nut made of bone. With its beautiful gloss finish, abalone rosette and purfling, full binding, and a rosewood headstock cap, the WG 16SCE Grand Auditorium Cutaway looks like a lot more guitar than the price would suggest. The MOP Washburn logo & "W" graphic on the headstock only add to that impression. It's little wonder that Washburn is among the most popular acoustic guitar brands. The phenomenal combination of value pricing, custom-shop styling, and brilliant sound has made Washburn dreadnoughts a great choice both for the seasoned player as well as the aspiring student.

Overall, the WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar With Fishman Preamp And Tuner is a good guitar. If you are looking for a guitar that gets the job done and a very reasonable price, this is for you. It looks really nice once you see it in person for the first time. Once again, tuning keys may give you troubles or maybe my guitar was just a fluke. Who knows. It is fun to play and I think I'll enjoy it for some time until I save up enough money for a Martin or Taylor.
Built in tuner is nice, electronics are good. I played it the other night at my church when it was plugged in to the sound system and it worked quite well.
Good quality guitar except for one thing. The tuning keys are awful. I had a hard time with them anyways. I got the guitar and decided to put some Elixir Nanoweb strings on it and they make an awful cranking noise once the tension builds up and have to be turned carefully. One of them actually would actually keep turning without tightening the string so I took it in to a music store that repairs guitars and they said that they couldn't do anything about it so I took it home and fixed it myself. The trick for me was turning the tuning key while also helping turn the knob that the string is attatched to.
Once it tenses up, turn it back a little bit and give it a little slack and then tighten it again. That eases the tension and made it easier for me.
I got this guitar for a great price and I honestly really enjoy except for the pain with the tuning keys. Other than that it is a great value. It plays nicely, has a good sound, and it's comfortable. Don't be expecting Martin or Taylor quality though.

I tried out a similar model at a local guitar shop where they were asking 350. I really wanted a cutaway and electronics and this model did not have either. So i came onto this website and found the same model with the the cutaway and electronics for less and was excited. I really liked the guitar, especially how it plays fast. Has decent tone unamplified. I could really get a nice tone out the Fishman 301T system through my Toneport on the Mac. I tried for a while and it just wasn't happening. The most concerning issues with the guitar were that there were three slipping tuning pegs on the top of the guitar. When turned they would become hard to turn and then they would snap. The tuners worked but these would have to be replaced soon and be difficult when restringing. There was also a fret buzz where the cutaway is on two strings. Can't recall exactly which fret. The reason i bought a cutaway was so that i could play easily on those frets. I don't want fret buzz anywhere on my guitar. This is something that couldn't be fixed unless you take 7 frets out and sand down the fretboard.Overall those three issues made me send the guitar back. If you can disregard those issues and maybe you get one that doesn't have broken tuning pegs then you would like this axe.It plays fast and isn't bad for the price. But there were too many issues for me to keep it.

Comments about Washburn WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar with Fishman Preamp And Tuner:

I have had a lot of different brand guitars. My last acoustic was a Taylor 414ce grand auditorium in which I had to sell. So, I was looking for something close to that, but for a lot less money. So I went with this Washburn grand auditorium cutaway. I had never owned a Washburn before. I will say I was a little bit worried I would be disappointed when I got it going from a Taylor to this, but I must say I LOVE this guitar! From the moment I pulled it out of the box I was happy. I read all the reviews on here before buying and compared many different guitars before making my decision and now I'm so happy I chose this one. The construction of the guitar looks solid, feels solid. I love how deep yet bright the sound is when playing it. The feel of the body along with the short fret board makes it comfortable for me to play. Which is why I have always favored the grand auditorium style. I was pleased with the action on the strings as well. Electronics are great. Can't really go wrong with Fishman in my opinion. I have yet to hear what the guitar sounds like recorded. I haven't gotten that far yet. Other than that, hands down I give this guitar a 10 for the money. If you want a nice sounding guitar, at a lower price then go with this one. You won't be unhappy with your choice.

Comments about Washburn WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar with Fishman Preamp And Tuner:

I bought this guitar new from a local music shop. The first time I played it, I was blown away. It sounds like a $700+ guitar and plays beautifully. Because Alaskan Cedar is a softer wood for the top, it has warm tones, but less sustain than that of a spruce, but the trade off is well worth it. The electronics and pickup built in are great. You get a lot of control with the pre-amp, and the on board chromatic tuner is also good for putting your guitar into strange tunings. Overall, this guitar is a must have with a beautiful sound and feel.

Surprising and Unusual

By Gary-qqlAA

Comments about Washburn WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar with Fishman Preamp And Tuner:

I bought this guitar online. The craftsmanship of the entire guitar is very good, I found no flaws of any kind anywhere. The selection of woods is excellent with the solid cedar top emitting very warm and vibrant tones although not as loud or bright as spruce this wood has it's own sweet character. The tuners hold the guitar in tune very well. The tuner works good and is easy to use. The electronics reproduce the unusual sound of the cedar accurately in all of my amps. I own 2 other Washburn guitars and have had no problems of any kind. The bang for the buck on this guitar is very hard to beat. Five stars.

Comments about Washburn WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar with Fishman Preamp And Tuner:

smooth playing, quick action, great look with awsome sound. pck up and built in tuner are great
built in tuner is a definate plus, works great. the pick up with treble, bass and phase control work great with my acoustic amps.
purchased this guitar on sale and feel it was worth every penny. The cedar top looked nothing like the picture, so much better!! the one i recieved has a dark finish. the only problem i had was with the tuning keys, but the moment i called Washburn they sent me out a new set. would do business with this company over and over.
the true meaning of a great deal. i have owned many guitars in the past but this one was worth the money

Nice for the price...

By Claude Richbourg

Comments about Washburn WG16SCE Solid Cedar Top Acoustic Cutaway Electric Grand Auditorium Mahogany Guitar with Fishman Preamp And Tuner:

I caught this guitar for a great deal. That being said, I'm pleased with most aspects of the purchase. I really like the Grand Auditorium style and wanted to try it without spending a bundle to make sure I like this style before I buy something better. It fits well in your lap, is thin and comfortable to play. It has decent action for such an inexpensive guitar. The Fishman electronics are nice and the on-board tuner works well. It has nice tone and is a solid cedar top, which is nice for the price. It looks good and the workmanship is decent. My only gripe is that it has a couple of pretty bad "fret buzz" spots on a couple of the strings at the 2nd fret. I'm going to take it to a shop and have it set up to see if the buzz can be eliminated.

All in all, it's still a great deal...a nice guitar for the price, even at the standard price.

Before buying this guitar I had looked at the Breedlove 250CME which is a very nice guitar. I own a Breedlove, Seagull, Taylor, Martin, etc. but this guitar is something else. It is beautiful, sounds amazing, and built as solid as they come. The photos do not do it justice.

The packing was top-notch, the guitar was setup perfect when it arrived, low action, no buzzing, had to do a minor tune adjustment and that was it... the fun began.

This is quite frankly an INSANE guitar for the money! Features are up the wazoo and the tone/wood quality is great. Unbelievable value!

This easily looks, feels, and sounds like a guitar three times the price I paid for it (on sale this week).

I'd rate this guitar 6 stars if I could.
