With back and sides crafted from select solid Honduras rosewood, the GC41 is Yamaha's top-of-the-line handcraft classical guitar.
Developed with the know-how gained from decades of experience making handmade instruments, the GC Series represents Yamaha's premium handcrafted Music Craft line of classical guitars. Carefully crafted from hand-select woods, these solid top nylon-string guitars are equipped with many of the same features as found in superior Grand Concert series guitars.
The top of the Yamaha GC41 guitar is solid European spruce, offering balanced tone with a beautiful appearance. The back and sides are solid Honduras rosewood, a strong wood that brings out lots of bold projection, and lets the subtle nylon guitar tone ring out. The mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, and rosewood bridge all contribute to the clarity of the Yamaha guitar, as well as the lasting sustain that you hear from note to note. Featuring gold tuners and a beautiful gloss finish, this guitar has all the classic looks and desirable appointments to make it stand out, while the sound will speak for itself after the very first strum.
Yamaha GC Series Guitars
The GC classical guitar represents Yamaha's handcrafted line of classic nylon string acoustic guitars. Yamaha craftsmen's close attention to detail guarantees the best quality.
Next to the woods themselves, the bracing of the guitar top is the most critical factor affecting the Yamaha guitar's final sound. Although the basic design is still very close to the original pattern proposed by Torres in the 1880's, refinements and improvements have been made to ensure optimum tone and volume with modern strings and playing techniques.
Bridge and saddle
The thickness of the third string in a nylon set tends to limit its movement at the bridge and nut, causing it to respond as if it were shorter than the other strings. Yamaha eliminates this common intonation problem on the GC41 classical guitar with a special offset step cut into the saddle at the third string.
A guitar's finish has a very real effect on its sound. A fine guitar, with a properly applied finish, will continue to sound better as time goes on.
Much of the knowledge, techniques, and basic designs used in creating these Yamaha classical guitars were gained under the tutelage of two very prominent master guitar makers, Eduardo Ferrer and Manuel Hernandez (Hernandez y Aguado). In spending two years under the tutelage of Eduardo Ferrer, Yamaha's staff learned the traditional way and only way to create truly fine acoustic guitars. That knowledge and experience led to the introduction of their renowned Grand Concert series. The knowledge they shared”from the critical selection of materials, down to the fine art of finishing and polishing”cultivated the techniques and sensitivity it takes to make the minute adjustments and subtle modifications that traditional guitar production demands.
