Best Uses
- Silent Practice

Comments about Yamaha SLG110N Nylon String Silent Guitar:
The guitar is well made with good quality case. It should fit in an aircraft overhead no problem and there is plently of room for full-size headphones and music in outer pocket of case. The proportions are good and it feels very much like a full-body guitar when played in the classical position. The action is very much like other Yamaha classical guitars I have played. My only complaint is that the amplification of the bass strings can cause some buzz in the headphones (I am using high quality Bose headphones so the problem is related to the guitar electronics not the headphone). I don't know whether the problem is with the pickup or the amplifier; I have only played the guitar with the headphone jack. The reverb and chorus effects are fine for practicing. Overall, this is a really useful practice guitar and the only travel guitar that I have found to be practical for flying and practicing in hotels.
Pros
- Perfect for playing latin
Cons
- Poor head phones
Best Uses
- Latin jazz music finguer
Comments about Yamaha SLG110N Nylon String Silent Guitar:
I´m a pianist, harpist and guitarrist player with 12 years of experince and I was looking for a special guitar sound for my latin music style; and I finally found it with my new Yamaha Silent nylon guitar. Off course it´s not an acoustic, but it´s perfect for practice and gigs. 100% recomendation.
Comments about Yamaha SLG110N Nylon String Silent Guitar:
I have been playing nylon/classical guitar (non-professional intermediate) for over 40 years and own a 53-year-old Goya and a Takamine I bought in 1986, but have never ventured into any amplification for my nylons other than external mic-ing. In July of this year while visiting Piazza Navona in Rome, I heard an excellent guitarist playing with the most beautiful amplified tones, and on the oddest-but-cool--looking guitar. It was the Yamaha SLG110N. Upon my return I immediately ordered one. I was a little leery of having chosen the Tobacco Sunburst finish as some of the photos on the internet looked like it might be a cheap red-to-yellow ramp/blend. But what I got was a beautifully finished darker stain to predominantly light wood ramp. The guitar is worthy of being left out for display as it is certainly a conversation piece with a wonderful functionality.
I bypassed the included earpiece headphones and plugged in my favorite studio pair and was immediately impressed with the tones I could produce. The treble and base pots along with the effects selector (2 reverbs, chorus and echo) are very good even through an amp.
For this guitar I can truly say "well done, Yamaha". It is both an elegant and practical solution and does not compromise too much for the convenience of its portability.
I highly recommend.
Everything you need including headphones, A/C adapter and a really nice travel case. The guitar is well constructed, beautifully finished, and breaks down very easily to pack. Everything was well thought out in designing this guitar.
Well thought out and executed. The wood finishes are particularly nice on mine. The input/output and control section on the back is plastic, but very well done. Everything has easy access from the playing position. The included case is very nicely done and sturdy. I would not hesitate to travel with this guitar as carry-on on an airline.
It's a little pricey for a travel guitar, but there are others that are more expensive, but I think this one is well worth it since I would not hesitate to use it to perform with. In fact there are some very nice and serious classical performances on YouTube using this guitar. I have no regrets over the price.
