The Sennheiser EW 135 G2 E835 Cardioid Hand-Held Wireless System is an excellent value for a live performance, wireless mike. The proximity effect built into the mike allows you to use mike technique to adjust your own vocal volume without the loss of lows usually associated with pulling away from the mike. The mike allows lead vocalists to cut through the mix and captures all aspects of dynamic range for the human voice. The only drawbacks are the mids are especially hot and can cause feedback in the 125 range. Adjust your eq accordingly. Also, the proximity effect does cause the mike to pick up other stage sounds from fellow bandmates, which can be tricky when recording a live performance. Your mike will capture many of the other instruments when recording a live performance, and it is difficult to isolate just the vocal track. The new feature of a battery life indicator is great because wireless mikes can make nasty noises through the PA when the battery dies during a performance. I loved the previous edition of the Sennheiser wireless and with the new added features, this unit is even better. Buy it.

This really can be a great quality wireless mic depending on your intended use. For speaking, this microphone is great. For most singing, this is a great microphone as well. All technical wireless aspects are very impressive as well - for the price, you get a great diversity receiver and exceptional range. It does have one flaw that is prohibitive in my case - the actual SPL of this mic (volume that it can handle from the sound source....) isn't that great. I personally have a loud, powerful voice... and I can not sing into this microphone without getting distortion. Try backing off a few inches, and you lose serious volume and quality before you lose the distortion. And for those of you thinking I need to set the pad on the mic, even set at max reduction (-30dB) the problem was still very prevalent. I've noticed this in both Sennheiser wireless mic's I've used - the much cheaper freePORT set, as well as this one. Perhaps it is something in the wireless electronics that can't process such a strong signal, but whatever it is... I won't be using this mic ever again. So basically, if the singer does not have a very powerful voice, or if it is to be used for speaking purposes, this is a great microphone. But if you have a singer with powerful vocals, look elsewhere - I've experimented tons with no luck. Wireless is nice, but NO microphone suitable for stage use, in my experience, can beat the Shure Beta 87a - the sound quality is unbelievable. Unless you HAVE to go wireless, I'd suggest getting some high quality wired mics and using the wireless only when necessary. Your vocalists will appreciate it...

Awesome Mic - I'm buying another!

    By Hypnotic1

    from Liberty Hill/Austin, TX

I use this microphone for hypnosis shows and it has been bulletproof in it's performance. It's solid for using on the road and setting it up everyday in a new place. Easy to change channels if I end up somewhere with cross over on the channel I'm on. I'm purchasing another mic right now and I'll picking this one again. I don't think you can do much better than this mic, especially at the price.

    Love This Mic!

    By NicNac205

    from South Carolina

I have owned this wireless mic system for about 2 years. I am a singer in a high energy classic rock band and this mic really progects clear cutting vocals. I am a powerful vocalist with lots of volume and the system handles it well. At the same time when I sing in a softer tone it still picks up the sound with great clarity. It is pricey but well worth it. The only issue I have had is the clear cover over the LCD on the handheld has popped off a couple of times. This is mainly due to me being very energetic and jumping around a lot. I have even dropped the mic several times and it still keeps going. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone looking for great sound quality in a wireless system.

The Sennheiser ew135G2 E835 Cardioid Hand-Held Wireless System is truly a vocal performers dream. With great response to any PA system, this microphone demands respect. Being a keyboardist, I can depend on this clean and powerful microphone to perform consistently every time. I love the LED battery indicator. This microphone is not battery hungry has been a great contributor to the band's "sound". Thanks!

    Great buy!

    By Dave-0Dux-

We used this mic both in a 100 year old church with an ailing sound system and we're now using it in our new facility with a brand new sound system. The sound quality of this mic was stellar in BOTH places. We've never had issues with distortion and we've had some pretty powerful vocalists. No dropouts either. Sweepable mids on your mixer easily take care of mid-range problems. Most of our vocalists request to use this mic. Highly recommended!

    Great Mic!!!

    By StrainX

    from Orlando, FL

I had NO problems with this mic what so ever. I had it for over 5 years, and I'm a singer that moves around the stage a LOT!!! I've dropped it a few times and it still kicks a**!!! Now that I'm about to go on tour with my band I need a new one so I'm selling my old one.

    Excellent for Churches

    By Pastor Gary

We have been using this for 3 years in a portable church situation, ie break down set up constantly and have not had 1 issue. It's perfect for preaching.

    Can't rely on it

    By Sonn

    from Minneapolis, MN

I own this mic and use it solely for gigs. The third time I used it we noticed a signal dropout when I'm active. If it sits on a stand all night, fine. But if I move around with it, it cuts out. We've tried changing channels, tried it in multiple locations all with the same result. Good thing I paid for the warranty!

On the road with Tim and Faith

    By Ozlo Griffen

    from Music City USA

This mic feels at home on the major tour or in the local bar. we use a rack of about 10 of these and never had a problem with cross talk or fade out. These mics are soild. We take care of them the best we can but lets face it. everywhere we go there is Gravity and these have hit the ground a few times and never failed us.
