OVERVIEW

The CDP-130 is a graded-hammer action 88-key digital piano with Casio's AHL sound source and a rich hall reverb effect. Simple, yet straightforward, the CDP-130 has everything you need to sit down and play. The AHL sound source has built-in tones including piano and acoustic instrument tones that sound better than ever before. The CDP-130 is also equipped with a warm, lush reverb with the acoustics of a grand concert hall. The keyboard features a spring-less hammer system that is similar to the one used by grand pianos that provides a keyboard touch that is naturally firm. Lower notes play relatively heavier than higher notes, just like the keys on a grand piano.

For songwriting, every instrument "contains" different songs and styles. I miss the old upright piano I used to have, but this digital piano has a feel and sound that come very close to what I rememember. Although mainly a guitarist, I like to write "piano songs" sometimes, and the Oxygen 49 keyboard I use for recording synth parts etc. doesn't quite do it. There may be better pianos, but this one sounds, feels, and works great for me. And for an amazing price.

I started using this after using a 72 key for about 10 years with all kinds of sounds and rhythms, etc. The pressure I had to use with this one was much stiffer, and it took me several weeks to get used to the sound. I tried putting it through speakers, but it was louder by itself than with the speakers. I like it mainly because it has the full 88 keyboard, but as far as sound and ease in operating, it's not what I expected. It's sound is more "tinny" than I wanted. The demo sounds wonderful, but I can't make it sound that good!!

Comments about Casio CDP-130 Digital Piano:

This is an outstanding piece of equipment. The keys feel phenomenal and its really fun to play. The settings are super easy to use, other keyboards have so many buttonsit can become complicated to learn. Its a little heavy to transport, but thats expected because of the keys. There are only a handful of sounds available and they can be a little shallow, so you'll want to run it through your computer. This is a great price for this instrument. Guitar Center has this listed for at least 150 smacks more.

Comments about Casio CDP-130 Digital Piano:

I am not a live performer - I record music. In fact, the reason this keyboard is so perfect for me is because I wanted a MIDI controller that has realistic piano keys (I had one of those plastic pedal keyboards since I was 10). So now I can actually work on being a legit piano player while continuing to record music. Great price too.

The speakers aren't great, but that was not my concern when purchasing this. If you are a live performer, this may not be best for you, and I think the only audio out is for headphones.

Comments about Casio CDP-130 Digital Piano:

I bought this for my 10 year old grandson to learn the piano. He does not have room for an actual piano and so this is an excellent alternative. This keyboard has excellent sound and is easy to use.

Comments about Casio CDP-130 Digital Piano:

My sister-in-law has the CDP-120, and I love that one, but when I married my wife, the keyboard stayed. I searched far and wide reading a lot of descriptions and reviews, and this is the best deal out there for acoustic-piano grade weighted keys. I grew up with our family acoustic piano, and this has the feel, and for 700USD less than the competing brands. As for the poor sound and lack of selections, the speakers fill a room with sound, the volume is adjustable, and if you want more sounds, run it through ableton or protools. Love this keyboard.
