Th Shaker Madcat is is a great alternative to bulkier, heavier bullet-style mics which doesn't compromise on the filthy tone blues players demand.

Great Mic If...

By JCB

from New York

Comments about Shaker Madcat Harmonica Microphone:

This is a wonderful mic, if, and only if you get an impedance matching transformer to go with it. Do not be fooled by the 1/4 inch plug. This is a low impedance mic, and will sound very weak without the transformer. It is a totally different mic with it.

Should Have for Every Harp Player

By JB-EfO.O

Comments about Shaker Madcat Harmonica Microphone:

I've owned and played the wooden verion of the Madcat Mic for two years. It's comfortable and easy to adjust gain for solos. The first time I played it my guitarist got blown out of the water! I crank down now instead of worrying about feedback. The best thing about this mic is how much control of palm tone I can achieve. I play it mainly through my Fender 59 Bassman 4X10 and sometimes through my Blues Deluxe. My other mics include the original Shaker- which I like for its detens on the gain control and thick sound, a Shure green bullet, which was my first mic but is too large for my hands, and a Retro Rocket, which is a smaller bullet style. I admit the Reto Rocket is my favorite because of the balance of palm control achived by virtue of it's size and its awesome Chicago sound. The Madcat is my go-to mic for Acoustical Blues, Country and Folk songs (or at jams where I know the guitarist is known for playing very loud because I can crank the Madcat without the feedback!) It's easy to change out the Madcat and other Shaker mics because of their standard 1.4 inch quick connectors with any length cable. That might be more of an big issue for me than others since I'm pretty particular about my sound on each song.

Fabulous Harmonica Microphone

By Hal-nr0Fl

from Florida Keys

Comments about Shaker Madcat Harmonica Microphone:

I own and play 11 Hohner model 270 chromatics, one in every key except D flat. I also own the Madcat Harmonica Mic and use it in live performance settings. The beauty of this mic is its tone and also the ability to unobtrusively cup and conceal it in the hand without sacrificing any of the two-hand control so essential for expressive playing. I own three other mics but the Madcat is the only one I use for live performance.

Very impressed!!

By janthony28

Comments about Shaker Madcat Harmonica Microphone:

The Madcat is the only mic that allows total freedom of the hand effects that harp players like to use. I was impressed with the quality of the instrument and clarity of the sound. Keep in mind that it is not a compression mic like a bullet or astatic, but it allows for total freedom for hand effects and is extremely clean. Also, because it is dynamic, you can play effects into your amp like overdrive without a fraction of the feedback problems. I love this mic and am glad to have it. Although, I will say its still not a sub for a bullet, its definitely a must have for all the harp players out there.

great little mic

By Hoagy deBaer

from Sandy, Or

Comments about Shaker Madcat Harmonica Microphone:

This is my main harp mic. i have three mics i use- the Mad cat, the green bullet, and one i made (out of a medicine bottle) and I use the madcat the most. This mic is perfect for most blues, country, rock, etc. This is a great general use mic, because of its response to wah effects and what ever else you do. never had problems with feedback. that's a great asset. nothing ruins a great jam session like feedback. If you're looking for comfort, this is your mic. it's small, not bulky. great mic overall.
