          Comments about Alesis Q88 88-Key USB/MIDI Controller:

Works i use an iphone power adapter to power it via usb for live and it does the trick so you really don't need a power adapter. The only thing is lack of sliders for organ tone wheel control but for the price you get what you get. and it is good for the price

                Comments about Alesis Q88 88-Key USB/MIDI Controller:

I bought this to replace my twenty year old Korg X-3, which I was basically using as a midi controller anyways. That one had those plastic light keys.

This new one is full sized and keys are semi-wieghted. They are little stiff and they spring up, but I'm getting used to them.

I plugged it into my Mac laptop with USB and launched Garageband and it just simply worked.

I plugged in my 20 year old damper pedal and it just worked.

The keyboard has no power supply, the USB powers it. Cool!

It's NOT a free standing keyboard. It doesn't do anything without a computer and a softsynth or midi program.

Overall it feels like a nice, high-quality instrument. It's solid.

For less than two hundred b u c k s with free shipping, though, is a crazy price. When I thought I needed a new keyboard, I thought it was going to be a thousand plus purchase. If this thing breaks in a couple years, I'll throw it away and get a new one.

                Comments about Alesis Q88 88-Key USB/MIDI Controller:

I feel this keyboard is really a great bargain for the price. There are currently no other controllers on the market for its value that will give you the ability to play the full range of 88 keys but with the convenience of a usb/ midi out keyboard. Yes this is basically the same model as the M-Audio 88 key, but the Alesis version has been updated with a nice black finish.

If you want to practice or play a free standing keyboard this is not it. To get sound from this device you must connect to and be supported by computer and software.
