I purchased the Behringer FCB1010 because I needed to upgrade my recording arsenal. I'm a solo recording guitarist, and I record everything directly onto my PC thru a Line 6 Toneport audio-interface. When I was first starting out, I had a few pedals, but since I've moved into the realm of digital amp modeling, I hardly ever use them anymore. The only thing is, it's hard to record certain songs without the use of an expression pedal to control a wah-wah or pitch-shifter. Sure, there's plenty of ways to automate it in your DAW on your PC, but it's not quite the same. I also missed being able to turn on/off effects hands-free, but I really liked the way my computer-based amps and effects sounded. So I decided to find a MIDI pedal that would be able to control my amp sim and my DAW.Searching around on the internet, this seemed like the best choice for me. I really didn't want to pay more than a couple hundred for a pedal, and this seemed to have everything that I needed. 2 expression pedals and 10 footswitches (all of them programmable). I read that it was really hard to learn, but I figured I could handle it.When I first got the pedal, I was really frustrated trying to get it programmed correctly. That is, until I took someone's advice and looked up a video on youtube. The way you program the pedal is really hard to figure out on your own, but once you have someone show you, it's really not that hard and it actually makes sense. Now I use this for casual guitar playing at my PC to control my Line 6 Gearbox amp sim, as well as controlling and automating parameters in my DAW. It's really cool being able to hit the record, stop and play buttons with my feet! If you find yourself in the predicament that I was in, do yourself a favor and get this pedal. Once you figure it out, you'll find that it's really helpful!

This thing on the outside is a good product, I was very surprised with the external quality, and felt the value to be worth the money for what it does. Sadly I thought it could be programmed like a few more, slightly more expensive controllers, where you can have the bank pedals change the patch or bank, and the rest are just on/off pedals(stomp style). After hours of research, the best result I found was 5 pedals for patches, 5 for on/off for effects (stomp-pedal style). That simply doesn't cut it for me, especially if you have to buy some crazy Firmware upgrade (that's not even software oddly enough), void the warranty, then spend hours setting it up.If you know what your doing, and you understand its uses, this is surely a fine product. I Find it to be nothing more then a patch selector, with only 99 patches available, out of like 400 on most of my devices, that also, didn't cut it or I would have kept it just fr that. I'm giving this such a low rating, because its so dang old, they really need to come out with a new one already, and no one is telling the truth here. For software applications, some plugins, probably a few processors, it works pretty well. For me, I'm getting the Roland FC-300 or the Ground Control. they do so much more, you really get what you pay for. For my use, 2.5, for some 5.0.. really can't give a good rating personally, just do your research before you make the plunge. if your getting something boss, stick with Roland stuff, Something Line-6, stick with Line-6 boards. Not worth trying to save some money, if your losing time, as, time is money!.

Comments about Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Footcontroller:
I sent one back for replacement and then thought the replacement was broken too -- the pedals didn't transmit MIDI data. Then I found a Behringer support PDF at http://music-group.force.com/PKB/servlet/fileField?id=0BE90000000CaXU that tells how to calibrate the pedals -- and it works fine.
Also, use the PC editor!

Initial Set up takes considerable thought & time depending on how much control over how many devices U want with any given push of a button. Only time will tell if this becomes a comfortable useful tool that is more insperation than distraction.

Comments about Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Footcontroller:
at first I was a bit apprehensive about the fbc 1010 only because the pricing was so low. I read all the reviews and decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I use the fcb1010 with my g major 2 and couldn't be happier. At first I needed a few questions answered about its calibration but found the support people at Behringer both friendly and happy to assist..I don't believe for the price anything else can come close.
Comments about Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Footcontroller:
Because of the complex midi programming.
IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MIDI "DONT BUY THIS" I have had mine almost a week and half and I still cant figure it out. And if your buyinh this to for a stomp box you have to change a chip to do this. I plan to vkeep it keep trying but I wished I would have not bought this. Simple as that.
dont know have got it to work yet.
dont know yet.
Comments about Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Footcontroller:
I would rate this product really high for all of its features but it I have two real complaints.
The biggest drawback is the difficult programming. I am using this unit to control a lighting console that requires 'note on' midi signals. If you are using it for a guitar rig that uses 'program changes' it will probably work for you without so much hassle.
I am a very tech savy guy and this thing came close to being sent back. It comes with NO instruction manual. You must download it off the internet. That being said, the manual was clear as mud. After several days of agony (I'd think I had it figured out, but it wouldn't work) I finally found the answer on a forum on the internet. Yes...you have to hit the Note button TWICE!! Once to illuminate, the second time to flash..then 'Enter'.
Now it works for me. If only the manual had thoroughly explained this! Many people seem to give up and program it with thier computer (with a midi set up of course).
The second complaint I have is the FCB1010's enormous size. This thing is massive. When playing guitar I am not a pedal user and I am not use to having anything on the floor except a tiny channel switch. Having to drag this thing around to run the lights doesn't thrill me...but until I can afford a lighting guy, this will have to do.
One of the few footswitches that will do all three types of midi signals. Lots of features enabling it to handle simple to very complex rigs.
Haven't had it long but it seems to be built pretty robust (as much as can be with todays products being made with so much plastic). The body is metal, the pedals are plastic. The unit is very large and heavy for a footswitch.
There are only two pedals I can find that will send midi note signals. This unit costs half of what the other did so I guess it makes it an OK value. Getting through the programming is the hardest part.

Get it.
Extremely versatile. I'm just using it to change sounds in my guitar rig and I am using both expression peddles. It looks like it does a lot more stuff that I will probably never use, like sending all types of MIDI information.
Very-very solid. Awesome. Feel like I could drive a tank over it.
I have not used any type of expression peddles before but I was anticipating something a bit stiffer. These, they stay in place when set, but they are very 'light' and almost too easy to move. But that's about the only thing I would change. Other than that it really does surpass my expectations.
Extremely good value for money.

As the title suggests, I installed another eprom called the Vamprom Bass by Eureka Sounds. I read most of the review and decided this was the midi pedal I would get seeing I already had the Behringer Bass Vamp. The FCB1010 worked out of the box with the Bass Vamp. I did some research online and I say several people on bass forums talking about the Vamprom, so I picked up one from www.eurekasounds.com This new eprom I installed makes the FCB1010 worth a lot more that i payed on musiciansfriends. If you want to only use the Fcb1010 with one device live the 11rack from Avid, or the Vamp, go with the vamprom or the 11prom. If not stick with the factory eprom or purchase a UNO prom. Great purchase I recommend this device.

I use the FCB1010 to control my AdrenaLinn 3. Since the AdrenaLinn 3 only has two switches on the face of it, you really need an external pedal to control it.When I first got the FCB1010, I really struggled with the software interface to program it. I never was able to really get what I wanted. But luckily, I found the AdrenaPROM by EurekaSound! (www.eurekasound.com) which is custom made for the FCB1010 & A3.Now I couldn't be happier. Effect Mode with state feedback, Preset Mode, Drum mode, Wah, Volume - it offers full control.

OK so I read all the reviews on here before I purchased it. I went to the Yahoo FCB1010 group and read alot about it. Seems those patient enough to learn how to use it love it, and those who can't figure it out curse it. I love it..WOW...I am glad I bought it, I got a nice "like new" used one for a nice discounted price : ) And it was really just like new, they forgot the power cord but quickly got one out to me! bottom line buy it and LEARN to use it you'll love it. I even used it to Phrase select on a Boss RC20XL not much you can't do with it!!!
