This is exactly what I was looking for. It has no unneccessary features and it doesn't sacrifice in the features it does have. It is a weighted hammer action 88 key digital piano with USB MIDI out and a 1/4" headphone jack. It has a good piano sound. I can turn it on and play the piano. I can plug in headphones and practice silently. I can plug it into my laptop and record songs or use it to trigger other voices. It's really nice to play. The price is unbeatable. The piano sound is wonderful.

To my mind you can spend hundreds and thouasnds more and not get a whole lot more piano than this. If you want a digital piano to play and enjoy this is it. Casio did a really nice job. Great keyboard with all the essentials. No frills, no fuss, no paying for features you don't need. I love this digital piano.
It has (5) on board voices: piano 1, piano 2, elec. piano, harpsichord, and strings. It has USB MIDI out. It has (1) 1/4" headphone out. It has a sustain pedal jack and basic pedal. It has 88 weighted keys that feel like what I remember a piano feeling like. They have a nice resistance and return. They feel absolutely nothing like a synth keyboard.

I don't think any keyboard can sound or feel 100% like your idea of an acoustic piano. I grew up fumbling around on a Kimball upright piano and it had a somewhat heavy action that felt like all the other old uprights I came across in churches and schools and other people's homes. That's what I think a piano key feels like. This Casio feels plays like a piano to me. I am pleasantly surprised at how satisfying it is to play.

I think this has all the features you need in a digital piano: scaled hammer action keys, a nice piano sound, speakers and a headphone jack. The rest (recording, extra voices, teaching tools) is gravy and easily made up when you connect this to your computer. Let the computer do the heavy lifting.
The case looks nice, the keys feel wonderful. The speakers are adequate. The onboard voices sound good, especially the two piano sounds. The reverb and chorus are fun to play with and are pleasing when used in moderation. It's easy to navigate the settings. I think this was well designed, sounds great, and is very pleasant to play. It feels solid when you pick it up. I'm confident it will last as long as I need it too.
Absolutely outstanding! This is the absolute best value in a weighted 88 key digital piano today. I shopped for weeks asking questions of sales clerks, piano players and tried to read up on current models. I found that, as with nearly everything musical, your choice in instrument is very personal. If you like it, it's the right choice. Also, you can get hung up on the 'best' when to the vast majoirty of us there's really very little functional difference between an inexpensive quality unit and the top shelf.

While shopping around I went a local music store and played a Korg SP-250 which is similar in features. I liked that board. It sounded nice and was ok to play. Having played both I like the Casio action much more and it costs hundreds less. This is the best deal in a digital piano you can get.

The graded-hammer feel is good. The piano sound is good upon initial depressing of a key but the resonating tone lacks body. That is, it does sound like a string would when it's struck by a key-hammer but does not hold the vibration as long as a natural string would even with the combo of sustain & reverb applied. Buy my biggest disappointment is the strings. They're to pronounced. That is, there is no gradual incline to the sound, they are bright and overpowering when layered with piano. The strings overpower the piano sound, and there is no way to adjust the volume of either to equal out the feel. The strings by themselves do sound good if played softly, really. But to layer them with any other tone is a mistake. Sorry Casio.

Comments about Casio CDP-120 88 Weighted-Key Digital Piano:

I have been playing paino for ten years, and so I have played on several different keyboards and acoustic pianos. I was amazed that such quality sound and touch could come from such an inexpensive instrument! I can't find anything wrong with this piano. It doesn't look shiny and cheep, but has a sleek matte finish. The five different voices it has includes two different Grand piano voices, electric piano, harpsichord, and strings. The piano is not lightweight, but not too heavy to carry when I take it to worship practice. I am 5'9 and 140 pounds and not that strong and I can easily handle it. Also, the speakers on the paino and the weight of the keys are very good quality.

Perfect piano for a beginning student on a budget. Not expensive yet realistic feel, action and sound. Plus with headphones can practice without having to disturb anyone else. Simple to use without too many unnecessary bells and whistles. Uses minimal space and can be moved relatively easy vs. a real piano. I am completely pleased with my purchase.

Comments about Casio CDP-120 88 Weighted-Key Digital Piano:

Great price when on sale. Good to great sound quality - speakers have reasonable volume and quality. USB and 1/4" ports are great. Limited but efficient voice selection. Sleek, attractive look and finish. Suitable for use with or without stand - excellent rubber table grips. Somewhat portable when used without stand - can also be stored upright in a corner when not in use. Includes sustain pedal and music holder. I normally use a good acoustic piano but I plan on keeping this model for many years and may eventually buy or make a stand.

Comments about Casio CDP-120 88 Weighted-Key Digital Piano:

My family enjoys this piano very much. It was purchased as a gift for us all to get back into music. We do not have the space in our home for a full sized piano, so we went to the next best thing.

The sound is great. I think if you want something that sounds absolutely like a real piano, then you have to buy a real piano. But, the sound on the Grand Piano setting is very convincing, and the electric piano and other settings are outstanding. I haven't had a chance to mess with the reverb and chorus options yet.

The keys are very nice. They are fully weighted and give a good simulation of true piano keys. The sound is responsive to how hard you hit the key. The build is very solid.

I couldn't say if this is a piano you want to take out to the bar for your rock-and-roll gig, but I don't see why not. It plugs into an amp easy enough. For our purpose, practicing our lessons at home on a full 88-key piano, and Christmas sing-a-longs, it's more than enough.

I think that this is a high quality piano. It looks very nice, it sounds very nice, and it plays very nice. Completely satisfied in my purchase.
