Amazing synthesis and sequencing power plus real tubes and final output effects!
The Korg Electribe EMX-1 surpasses its siblings with even more extreme sounds and instant usability. Sound parameters can be edited in real-time simply by using the knobs and switches located on the front panel, letting you create sounds just as you would on an analog synthesizer. The Electribe MX provides 9 drum parts, 5 synth parts, plus accent parts that let you add dynamic accents to the drum and synth parts (for a total of 16 parts). The built-in VALVE FORCE vacuum tube circuitry lets you finesse your tone.
The Electribe MX features KORG's new MMT (Multi Modeling Technology) engine. The Synth Oscillator provides 16 different oscillator algorithms including not only powerful analog synthesis models, but sophisticated additive, PCM, combination, and formant models as well. Other functions include Chord Oscillator, which lets you produce the sound of chords with just a single note; Unison Oscillator, which detunes the pitch of as many as 6 oscillators to generate incredibly fat sounds; and Wave Shape, which mixes 2 oscillators and then applies modulation to create complex waveforms. 207 drum PCM sounds and 76 synth PCM sounds are built-in and ready for immediate use and range from powerful kick and snare beats through amazingly unique organic sounds.
In addition to 4 multimode resonant filters, there's a Drive parameter that produces the distinctive overdrive of analog circuitry, creating powerful analog synth sounds. BPF+ (Band Pass Filter Plus) with adjustable peaking as well as combinations of LFO and EG modulation allow you to create wonderfully bizarre sounds.
Twin Vacuum Tubes
The VALVE FORCE circuitry in the Electribe MX contains 2 vacuum tubes that can be used as a mastering effect to add new power to your sound. The tube gain knob adjusts the level at which the output signal is passed through the vacuum tubes, letting you create dynamic sounds with the distinctive tonal quality that only tubes deliver. This is not simple distortion but rather a natural effect that enhances the tonal changes in your music.
3 Stereo Effects to Process Your Sound
The effects from previous models of the Electribe series have been further enhanced to provide 3 multi-effect units (with 16 types of effect per unit) for simultaneous use. The wide variety of effects includes a cool Talking Modulator and a Grain Shifter that lets you freeze an instant of the sound and adjust the loop interval to the tempo. Sounds can be routed independently to the 3 effects, or you can use the Chain function to link effects together, opening up further sonic possibilities.
Nearly 200 Patterns included
The factory settings include 192 patterns ideal for all genres of today's dance music and beyond. Each pattern can save the sound settings and sequence data (maximum 128 steps) for each part, and 256 patterns can be stored in the internal memory. Pattern chaining is fast and flexible. You can combine patterns and add mute data and knob movements to create up to 64 songs.
Assign your favorite patterns to the 16 step keys, and use switchable Pattern Sets to select patterns while you perform. Chain Play lets you choose a starting pattern and ending pattern and loop the performance. You can also create and save your own original pattern sets.
Built-in Step Sequencer
The 14 part keys and 16 step keys on the panel of the Electribe MX allow for easy, intuitive song production. Realtime recording lets you record phrases as you perform, and step recording lets you use the keys to input timing, pitch, and duration one note at a time. Since you can specify the last step, it's easy to make instant changes to the feel or length of the song.
Record Knob Movements with a Pattern
The Motion Sequence records realtime knob adjustments and plays them back as part of the pattern. You can loop sounds with time-varying changes, creating original effects even in live performance. 2 types of motion sequence are provided; one for effects and one for parts. And each can also be edited for individual steps. You can record up to 24 motion sequences for use in a single pattern, allowing you to control virtually every sound parameter.
Arpeggiator with Ribbon Controller
The arpeggiator can be used for both live performance and song production. Simply touch the Gate Time/Resolution ribbon, and the selected part will begin sounding automatically. For a drum part, touching the ribbon will trigger notes, and sliding your finger up and down will change the note resolution. For a synth part, use the step keys to play the notes you want to arpeggiate - the ribbon controller affects note duration, and the slider can be played in realtime to generate new phrases. The resulting arpeggiator phrases can even be recorded into a Pattern. When playing a synth part, you can also specify what type of musical scale the slider will generate, giving you even wider expressive possibilities.
Process External Audio Sources
By using the stereo inputs, any external audio signal can be used as an oscillator and processed by the internal filter and effects. The Electribe MX provides 2 independent audio outputs in addition to the L/MONO and R main stereo output.
Auto BPM Detection
The Auto BPM function automatically detects the tempo from any rhythmic source connected to the audio-in jacks and applies that tempo to the pattern. Of course you can also use Tap Tempo to set the tempo or sync up to an external MIDI Clock.
Pattern and song data created on the Electribe MX can be saved on SmartMedia cards for quick and easy data management.
Order today and find yourself in possession of one of the most versatile, intuitive, and powerful instruments ever created.

Arrived yesterday morning, played it till 11pm last night (needed dinner) May return it, what I needed was a drum machine and a looper, this does that and has a delicious tube pre (guitar is wonderful thru it), it integrates with my Korg keyboard as well. Almost endless possibilities. Quite a process programming(its a synth) so we'll see some interesting music, I'm sure.
I love this beast, abs Value for Money, great sounds, fat synths, Ribbon Arp, tweak on the fly and record your moves, Analogue tubes, some synth sounds are phatt,,play it live with the KP3 Kaossand sync it to the Moog LP, did some great tracks, simple to use, amazing efx, nice patterns.Looking to the ESX ..get it b4 it runs out. This machine has impressed me for the price
The demos are awesome, great analog synth sounds and it appears to be easy to use. Most of the drum sounds are techno/dance stuff but I think this unit can be used for a lot of different applications.
Its a nice machine, has a decent library of samples and the 5 monosynths are beautiful when needed, not quite a virus but still better then their Cheaper electribes, I sync it with my TR-707 and microKORG.
The ability to custimize and tweak each of the NINE drum parts and FIVE synth parts makes everything sound so original, plus it comes preload with fat sounds! If you are looking to make electronica or techno/dance/trance this is the best hardware for the price. I love it. Spend the money on the MPC if you want to do a lot of sampling though.
This machine has great drum and synth sounds. The drum and synth will blow away any keyboards sounds that are in the same price range. The money that you would have to spend on a quality drum machine and synth, would definately cost you a lot more than it was for this nice little piece of equipment. My only complaint is that it doesnt have the sampler that its brother has. I think in the near future though korg will combine the emx and the esx to make a monster of a music production station.
As a dj, I would rate this as a manual Ableton Live. This is the best machine for creating your own loops and beats. It's much more than I bargained for, in that not only can you program a beat or groove, but create your own electronic music. It's a production studio. Every sound conceivable, will keep you entertained for days.
This synth is a very good machine. It is a bit cumbersome to record in the format you wish, but once you get the hang of it (about 1 week) it is awesome. Everything is fully customizable and after your first few, you will be hooked!
My first piece of gear was the Electribe EM-1, and when I outgrew that I got an E-MU XL-7 which is a 128 polyphony, 16 track piece of crap. The new EMX-1 is the answer I've been waiting for, it combines ease of use with some of the best features out there. ANYONE even considering something else needs to have their head examined because the Electribes have it all, best sounds, best features, and most intuitive interfaces on the market. Laying a complete track down on other machines takes so much time that you lose the creative spark that makes you want to write music in the first place. Korg has never let me down and they haven't this time either.
I have a ton of synths, but I make all my best music on my Electribes. I can't wait to shred this one. New synthisis, 8 bars, grain shifter, three multi effects. That's more than any of the Roland or Yamaha boxes. Yippeee.
