A compact synth for your computer-centered system.

The microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller is a compact and portable synthesizer that delivers plenty of sonic power, advanced control, and up-to-date integration with computer-based music systems.

Its sound generator is the same HI synthesis system used by the TRITON series. In addition to Korg classics, many new PCM waveforms created specifically for the microX are provided, with a special emphasis on cutting edge synth and dance sounds, as well as unique ethnic timbres.

Effects are an important part of your sound, and the microX lets you use up to four of them simultaneously; one insert effect, two master effects, and one master EQ. You can choose from 89 different types of effects, with realtime modulation and tempo-based control of many of them.

Taking full advantage of this rich array of synthesis power, there are 640 Programs created by Korg's renowned team of sound designers, covering all musical styles including dance, electronica as well as more traditional needs. In addition, you can combine up to eight of these programs into a Combination to create even richer and more complex tones, with 384 Combinations preloaded.

        Easy operation
No matter how many sounds an instrument may boast, it can't claim to be "easy" unless you can quickly find the sound you need. The microX's sound search functionality is based on the category select function acclaimed on Korg's workstation series, with a dedicated Category button to access this handy aid. It is further enhanced by direct access to the most popular categories such as synth, keyboard, bass, and drums from front panel buttons, making selecting the desired category even more intuitive. There's also an Audition button that automatically plays an appropriate demo phrase for each sound you select, making it easy to get a quick idea of how to use that sound effectively.

The microX has an innovative ClickPoint cursor for fast navigation and a large dial for value changes, making operation a simple and intuitively obvious process of "select and set."

        Superb control capabilities
Don't let its small size fool you—not only is the microX a great sounding small synth that fits well into desktop studios and "on-the-go" music making, it makes a perfect expander sound module thanks to the voicing care that covers the full range possible from larger keyboards and controllers.

In addition, the microX plays another role as a superb controller. The 25-note velocity-sensitive keyboard is a perfect when space is at a premium, and the joystick can control multiple parameters simultaneously in all four directions. Besides being used to tweak and modulate the internal sounds, effects and arp parameters, the four knobs on the panel can be used via the External Control function to control up to twelve parameters on your computer DAW software, soft synths or a hardware sound/effects module. 64 external control templates are provided for popular software synthesizers and DAW programs, so you can start using this function right away.

Editor software for easily editing the microX's sounds from your computer is also provided. You can use the editor as a standalone program, or as a plug-in within your DAW software, providing seamless linkage of all microX operations with your DAW.

        Dual polyphonic arpeggiators
The microX's dual polyphonic arpeggiators provides a great shortcut to even more creative musical enjoyment. In addition to five basic arpeggio patterns, the microX provides 251 different phrases, covering everything from simple patterns to complex polyphonic phrases and drum grooves. You can also create your own original patterns and store them in any of the internal memory locations.

        Individual outputs for professional setups
In addition to the usual two-channel output, the microX provides two individual outputs that you can use to output specific parts independently. This is convenient when you want to send separate signals to external recording devices, or if you want to try out different playback setups for new acoustic adventures.

        Small is good!
The microX packs a broad range of sounds and functionality into a compact package. It will easily fit into your production environment, and gives you plenty of freedom in setting up your performance system. For convenient transportation and storage, the microX comes standard with a plastic carrying case.

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

This thing is nice, the sounds in it is right on the money, if your in to hiphop or r&b and you need that korg sound get it you will love it. The only thing bad about it is that the keys feel cheap but I don't use the keys on it, I midi it to my motif, all in all I give it a 9.

        Great Machine

        By wes123

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

I purchased this machine as a good backing synth for my band, it is an amazing buy for the money. It has GREAT features, and is very quality made, the single problem I have with it, is it can be a bit of a pain not being able to pre assign programs to buttons directly upon the front of the machine, instead you have to scroll through the menu to find them. This really isn't bad, it isn't nearly as much of a pain in the ass as it is on the alesis stuff, but I just wish someone could let you assign programs to external buttons for live performances, But besides this single gripe I can't find much wrong with it. The only thing is the arpagiator settings can be a pain to edit, but honestly for the money, there is nothing better.

        Great!

        By David-SYpvy

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

I bought this to add some Korg sounds to my setup. I use an ASR-10, MPC-60, MPC-2000, Motif ES Rack & Mac. The microX has all of the sounds from the original Triton + an additional 32MB of very usable sounds. The synth sounds are particularly good but I find that you can do a lot with most sounds if you edit them. The piano is pretty bad, though! If you like that Korg sound and already have a controller keyboard/computer/MIDI gear, you should really check out this board. It adds a lot flexibility to my setup without costing much. I would buy it again.

This little Korg is a BEAST!!!!

        By Trunx

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

Yo, first off I didn't expect such a powerful sound engine to come out of this little guy. It's powered by the HI synthesis engine, which is the same engine in the Triton TR series. And it comes with 32MB of new sounds just for the MicroX. It's dual polyphonic arps are amazing and the sounds are outta this world. Same easy to get around setup as on the triton series which is great. I just bought this little guy 2 weeks ago and my library of sounds and recordings have been incredible. I own a Fantom-X6 so if you want to play a larger set of keys, all you have to do is just midi them. If this came with a sequencer, it would turn from BEAST to DEMON!! I love this synth. Thanks KORG.

        Review

        By La Honay

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

Essentially, what we have here is a "Baby Triton". Cool. Need great sounds, decent features, and portability? Look no further. However, be warned. This board is too fragile for gigging (comes with this bright orange plastic case...thanks, but could've used a nylon gig bag instead to "carry on" airplanes...) and gets way too hot during normal use. Every inch of this board is PLASTIC. Best to keep this one AT HOME in the studio. Korg really disappoints on this one. However, I'm huge sucker for Korg, cannot live without my MX, by the way.

        KORG does it again!

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

I was at my local music store and what do I find? The MicroX! Amazing Hi-synthesis, TRITON anyone?. It is sooooo cheap and if I had the cash this would be worth it! A 64 note polyphony is voiced beautifully across the keys, full sized and 25. The case is nice too. Playing through a 60 watt Roland, I got some amazing slow synths and some incredible drum tracks going in less than 5 minutes. Im not a fan of digital synths to be sure, but I am definately gonna pick this one up!

        Dissapointed

        By Korg Head

        from san diego, ca

Comments about Korg microX Tabletop Synthesizer Controller:

Been waiting for this baby to make it's debut. Needed a great sounding compact board. First, sound is awesome, perfect size. It is really a "micro-triton". The pros end there. Cons: chassis and knobs are cheap plastic all around. Feels very fragile, reluctant to take it out to play. Power source gets really hot with normal use. To justify the price point, I would have liked to see a more sturdy chassis like the MX electribes, maybe some small sequencing ability/ storage. A nylon gig bag for transport would be more useful than the big dorky orange tool box that comes with it. (Can't take it as carry on in a plane!) Too bad!
