OVERVIEW

Classic TRITON sounds and features with 88 graded hammer-action keys!

The Korg TRITON Le 88 Music Workstation Keyboard delivers the breathtaking sounds and powerful performance you expect from a TRITON but at a price that won't break the bank. Korg trimmed some of the extra features of the hit-making TRITON line to make the more affordable Le but kept all the good stuff: the Hyper Integrated (HI) synthesis engine, powerful multi-effects, multiple outputs, dual arpeggiators, 16-track sequencer, and realtime controls. The Le 88 also has a smart layout and efficient interface as well as Korg's top-of-the-line 88-note graded-hammer action and 16MB stereo Concert Grand Piano sample set. It's also loaded with over 1,000 killer sounds and has the knobs and joysticks that let you send each and every sound into new dimensions! Or you can use the power of the TRITON Le to roll your own unique tones. Either way, you'll be pumping out some of the freshest sounds around!

Loaded with TRITON sounds

TRITON Le's extra-large 32MB PCM ROM (borrowed from the TRITON) is packed with 425 multisamples and 413 drum samples. They cover a broad palette of instruments ranging from indispensable standards like piano, guitar, brass, strings, and tuned percussion to the most modern synth sounds that are perfect for dance grooves. The TRITON Le 88 also offers an additional 16MB stereo Concert Grand Piano sample set for a total of 48MB of PCM ROM. High-quality 48kHz sampling ensures that every detail of every sound is richly preserved.

The TRITON Le features both high-quality sounds selected from TRITON's preload data and an assortment of Programs and Combinations voiced especially for the instrument. In addition to 448 onboard programs (64 program locations are also available for your own sound creations/edits), 128 programs and 9 drum kits (compatible with the GM Level 2 sound map) are included, allowing the TRITON Le to be GM compatible.

384 Combinations, each consisting of up to eight Programs, include richly layered sounds, splits, velocity layers, and controller-assigned combinations that will give your music guaranteed impact. Customized sounds and original can be saved as one of the 512 programs/384 combinations/24 drum kits. You can back these up onto SmartMedia cards or an external hard drive to create enormous libraries of your personal sounds.

4-part effects section

You get one stereo insert effect, two master effects, a stereo 3-band EQ, and a mixer section for effects routing. With 89 different effects types, it delivers the same high-quality processing found in the TRITON; including realtime modulation of many effect parameters and the ability to sync to MIDI Clock or to the internal sequencer. Effects can be set for each Program, Combination, and Song, enabling you to perfect your sound down to the last detail and without the need for any additional gear.

16-track sequencer

A full-featured 16-track, 200-song sequencer (up to 200,000 notes) delivers the same level of functionality found in the TRITON and KARMA Music Workstations. You can record in realtime, use step sequencing, plus lots of powerful editing tools.

The Cue List lets you assemble your song from separate elements (Verse, Chorus, Break, etc.), and even convert them back into a single song for further recording or editing. Powerful features allow consecutive playback, changes in structure, and rearranging the sections of your song. 150 preset drum patterns and 100 user patterns, a Track Loop function, and even a Template Song function with style shortcuts make music production fast, easy and efficient.

Your sequence data can be saved as SMF format 0 or 1, making it simple for you to exchange data with other sequencers or sequencing software. Data can be saved or exchanged via SmartMedia. Data can also be saved or exchanged via SCSI devices when the optional EXB-SMPL Sampling Upgrade is installed.

Dual arpeggiator and RPPR functions from TRITON

The TRITON Le provides two powerful polyphonic arpeggiators that can be used to create intricate and expressive pitched patterns or drum grooves. 205 patterns are provided (5 Preset/200 editable), with 16 User locations available for your creations. You can use one arpeggiator in Program mode, and two arpeggiators in Combi and Sequencer modes, and you can even record the arpeggiators into the internal sequencer. Korg's unique RPPR function allows you to trigger sequenced patterns from individual keys on the keyboard for cool DJ style performances.

You're in control

The TRITON Le provides a joystick, two assignable switches, and four realtime control knobs that can dynamically control effect parameters or the arpeggiators. You can also use them for Alternate Modulation Sources to apply modulation to LFO and filters.

Finding sounds on the TRITON Le is a breeze. A dedicated [CATEGORY] key brings you to an easy interface for finding Programs and Combinations quickly and easily. This 'category selection' method is used not only for selecting sounds, but also when selecting oscillator waveforms and effect algorithms.

The [AUDITION] key allows you to preview Programs using a selection of musically-appropriate riffs—a great way to get to hear the TRITON Le in action.

SmartMedia slot for convenience

The TRITON Le sports a SmartMedia slot to accommodate compact and high-capacity SmartMedia, allowing you to exchange or backup SmartMedia sizes up to 128MB are supported, and data can easily be exchanged with a computer via readily available adapters commonly used with digital cameras. You can also load samples into a Triton Le using a SmartMedia card.

Thanks korg for the price of this keyboard. I live in Bogota Colombia and its very difficult to buy a profesional keyboard because they are very expensive. And for this price its easier. I also want to thank the people that rate the products because I didnt try the keyboard because in my country they dont have them, so you have to order them, so the rating and comments helped a lot. The piano sounds are very good especially the wurlitzers ore rhodes (If someone has complaints for acoustic pianos try the c064 program c. grand piano I think is excellent and the ones that are too light are very good for salsa or latin in general for example . The drums and organs are excellent and I cant believe the sound of guitars and basses. Pads, strings and Leads are excellent and winds are ok!! The manual is very well explained but you never end learning different things. I disagree with the person that says that it weights too much I think for a weighted keyboard it is easy too carry or else try to carry the Motif Es 8 or the Triton studio!!!. The keys have and excellent weighted action and trust me I gave played a lot of acoustic pianos especially steinway and sons. The realtime controllers are really entertaining especially for rock or electronic or if you want to mix bothI hope that it has a good quality to travel. If someone has doubts get fresh and dont waste more tome. This is a must have keyboard. Korg is the bestI hope I buy the sampling board pretty soon.

I had saved up for the korg triton le for i dont know how long and i finally got it (new)past christmas. I hadn't had it for even a whole month and the thing crapped out on me! every time i would hit a key it sounded like a broken piano string? Its pretty sad when you spend that much money on an instrument and it breaks within the first month. i took it back and the guy at the store confirmed that they have a bad reputation for crapping out on people a year or 2 after they buy it. I do not recommend this product to anybody, which is pretty sad since it's really an awesome keyboard as far as its capabilities and everything.

Amazing Workstation for the Price

By Tritontom

from Wilton, CT

I researched for about 5 months before buying the Triton Le 88. I could not be any happier with it. Many people think that the touch screen helps a lot on the other tritons, but the Le screen is just as easy. The sounds are amazing, especially the new Stereo Piano sound that Korg threw in. The price is awesome for all these features. Not to mention that the Triton le 88 has a sequencer built in similiar to that of the Korg D1600 recording machine. There is no other workstation with this many features at this price! Roland and Yamaha still cannot compete with the Triton le!

Best for Hip Hop

By AltarRed Key-Player

from Sierra Vista, AZ

I had high expectations of the LE88, but I was disappointed in the voices (especially the piano sounds), the confusing and chaotic menus, and the unrealistic weighted action and key-strike response. I read the LE88 user manual for three days and still didn?t fully understand its settings. The technical language is grueling and I still haven?t evaluated many of its features. I have to give PROPS to Korg the built-in sequencing capability that is easy to find and use, but I'd rather have the robust sounds of the Yamaha S90. The sequencer in the LE88 is easily replaced by Garageband (comes with any Apple Macintosh), which is quite comprehensive and fairly intuitive for ordinary computer users with a decent laptop (iBook for Garage band). I switched my LE88 for the fantastic piano sounds in the Yamaha S90. In 5 minutes in the music store, I figured out Yamaha S90 arpeggios, transposition, combination settings, and sound searching without opening a manual. Korg?s Triton LE88 is for the hip hopper, it has lots of cool arpeggios for dance and similar genre music, but the lingo in the user manual is complicated, and the sounds are lame.

awesome

By JuLiAGuLiA

Though it's not the Triton Studio, or Triton Extreme, the Le definitely gets the job done. I primarily use it as a stage piano- though the weighted keys make it VERY heavy. I also use it for writing (Finale) and random other college music assignments. It's got awesome durability. I've never had a problem with anything breaking. Even after I've dropped some heavy things on top of it... oops. I gave it slightly less on features, because you have to buy the sampling board separately and you can't just patch sounds in. If you're looking for an awesome stage piano- go with the Roland RD-700 or Yamaha Motif. But if you want wicked awesome synth capabilities- you've found them. Obviously Korg is one of the "Big Three" in keyboards -you'll definitely get a quality synth. Preference between Korg, Roland, and Yamaha is all in features and expected use.
