After using this quatro for 4 months now, I have found that it has driver issues periodically dumping the driver connection. You have to reload the driver and then it seems to work ok. I have reloaded the drivers 5 times now.On the other hand, it's portable and easy to connect and the features are extensive for the money. Best of the series is that I can record on the road with my Dell 8200 inspiron and get minimal dirt into each take. I usually have to go through and check each track to make sure it came through clean. Overall it's a fair piece, but probably would look for something more seamless next time and/or BLUE TOOTH capabilities.Works for now.Hope this helps.Eli

VERY big mistake!

By Graymalkin

from Virginia

Thought I'd found the perfect combo with the Quattro & Omni I/O. During installation, my computer crashed. After much frustration from M-Audio about downloading the "right driver", I tried again. Another crash. M-Audio finally replaced the unit, assuring me the unit was right. A third disasterous crash (lost everything) convinced me M-Audio was a HUGE mistake. I discovered my problem was "not uncommon." Wish I'd known the truth before costly computer repairs and MUCH frustration!I now am a BIG believer in Edirol products, and AVOID all M-Audio products.

It works most the time

By Bill-7MGub

from Indianapolis, IN

When using it on my tower it seems to work fairly well most of the time. When using it on the laptop I have had many problems with recording quality and noise from the laptops power supply. I didn't have any problems installing it but would have to shut it down and reboot it from time to time. I also own a Delta 66 and have zero problems with that. Its OK for the price but I would opt for something different in the future.

drivers are buggy

By drake-IjvrD

from concord, CA

the drivers, install, and tech support for this product are awful. I cannot get it to run on xp. The install is full of "click OK anyway" and convoluted steps. I hear it is ok if running OS 10 . otherwise..... don't waste your time/money.

It's a cheap way to get a multi input sound system.

Very confusing to learn how to use.

By Jason Snyder

from Maine

I'm not very happy with this item, it doesn't seem to like having another standard soundcard in the computer. I installed it with a soundblaster in my computer as the standard soundcard for windows sounds xctra and it crashed my soundcard's software so it wouldn't work right. Also, no good instructions within booklet, and VERY bad support online!! It took me two days on a phone to get a person from tech support, then they tell me it was my soundcard that caused the problem!! My advice for this product is make sure your computer is setup for only music production and no windows sounds!! Very unstable.

its useless

It really work for 2 channels only, unless you use an ASIO driver which is not compatible with most of the recording software.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Not only is the price remarkably high, but the product stinks. We have had more trouble than anything when it comes to trying to record. It may be computer incompatibility, but that is beside the point. Caution, may cause major inconvenience due to computer freezes, horrible latency, and incompatibility.

A Disappointment

By GuitarMaster16

from Thousand Oaks, CA

The quattro was a great disappointment to me and I continue to wonder why I hadn't gotten something else. It can only record two multiple tracks(I thought it could do four), and in order to record two simultaneous tracks you have to record in only 16 bit/48kHz instead of the advertised 24 bit/96kHz.

The quattro really is not very good

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have been using this for a little while and will be dumping it for the m-audio delta 44. The quattro is very limited in its functionality and will kill you with latency. The direct monitor function does not allow for simutaneous recording to your daw, without using all four outs. Save your money and headache. Get something else.

Should be easy to install...but....

See all my reviews

Sorry, can't recommend this M-Audio product. For starters, installation (in my case) was a big problem, especially downloading drivers. I run Windows XP, and the CD-ROM that should include the drivers (as listed in the manual) was non-existent. Since i'm running Cakewalk, the 4-in 4-out with ASIO becomes 2-in 2-out with MME. I wrote to M-Audio about the problem, but installation should be a cinch', but when they don't provide the necessary drivers! I'm going to a local store in the morning for something else.
