M-Audio

A 25-key USB/MIDI controller with dedicated transport and track-select buttons, auto-mapping, and presets for popular virtual instruments.

The Oxygen 25 USB/MIDI Keyboard Controller delivers next-generation functionality from M-Audio, an innovator in mobile music production technology. The 25-key Oxygen 25's control surface features eight assignable knobs, plus dedicated transport and track select buttons. DirectLink mode automatically maps these controls to common DAW functions including transport, mixer, track pan, and plug-in parameters. Built-in factory presets offer support for popular virtual instruments right out of the box so there's no complicated setup required. Velocity-sensitive keys and a sleek, compact design round out a portable keyboard that's perfect for laptop production, live DJ performance, triggering samples, or composing on the go. No other MIDI controller in this price range has so much functionality while remaining easy to use and extremely portable.

Streamlined Session Control:
Featuring eight assignable knobs, a programmable slider, dedicated transport controls, and track up and down buttons, the M-Audio Oxygen 25 gives you total control over your session, allowing you to stay engaged in the creative flow of recording and mixing music rather than being interrupted by the constant back and forth between a QWERTY keyboard and a MIDI controller. DirectLink mode automatically maps Oxygen 25 controls to common DAW parameters while factory presets provide instant mapping to popular virtual instruments including Xpand!2, Hybrid, Velvet, Strike, Oddity, ImpOSCar, and MiniMonsta. Use the dedicated select buttons to quickly switch MIDI channels and presets for tactile control over multitimbral hardware and software instruments. Interfacing a MIDI controller with your music software doesn't get any easier than this.

Professional Quality MIDI Keyboard Controller:
M-Audio is a pioneer in the category of mobile MIDI keyboard controllers. Thanks to continued innovation over the course of nearly a decade, you'll find that the Oxygen 25 controller has a solid, reliable build and puts as much musicality into the keyboard as it does into the complement of other MIDI controls.

Pro Tools Compatible:
The Oxygen 25 MIDI controller offers out-of-the-box integration with Pro Tools software, which is the industry-standard DAW found in professional, project, and personal studios around the world. With DirectLink, the Oxygen 25 controls instantly map to key parameters on the Pro Tools Mixer, Edit and Transport windows, as well as the powerful suite of virtual instruments bundled with Pro Tools. Together, Oxygen 25 and Pro Tools software provide streamlined workflow in a formidable system with tons of interface options and industry-standard file compatibility.

Ultra-Compact Design:
The Oxygen 25 keyboard packs an amazing amount of control for DAWs and soft synths into an incredibly small footprint. There's always room for it even in the most crowded desktops, efficient stage rigs or compact studios. It's also the perfect complement to your laptop for making music anywhere inspiration strikes, whether relaxing on the couch, writing on a plane, or jamming on a tour bus. With the M-Audio Oxygen 25 MIDI controller, you can carry your entire mobile laptop studio in a shoulder bag.

Oxygen 25 is a great USB controller. It does everything it claims to be able to do. Being able to add a pedal to it helps a lot. Works well with Cubase 6.

M-Audio Oxygen25. Light weight, friendly interface

Features:

its easy to use, just plug and play, garageband software instantly detects the keyboard and you can start playing. However, garageband 5.1 -398- running Mac OS 10.6.8 does not recognize the knobs and "track" buttons. I googled that and other people is experiencing the same problem. I need to try a different software.

It has rubber pads in the bottom which avoid sliding.

USB powered, and i could say that the power comsumption is not that bad, I guess you can play a couple hours with a single laptop batery charge.

Its pretty cool that the keyboard detects the speed used for pressing each key and gives you a different sound (for expression purposes).

Quality:

Good quality, does not look and feel like a toy, it feels and looks great.

Value:

For me it has a great value. However, for the same price you can buy something better (bigger and with more controls, but this will depend on your needs).

Overall:

I use it with garageband version 5.1 -389- (running Mac OS 10.6.8) and it automatically detects the keyboard of the controller, its pretty easy and fun to play with it.

Something I did not like is that garageband does not recognize none of the 8 knobs the controller has (i.e. you cannot use the knob1 for volume, etc...) I've been reading in the M-Audio website about a patch or missing plug-in and there is one, however I could not find the "download" link. I guess i need to use a different software (like ableton live or something else). Garageband recongizes the Oxygen 25 keys but not totally, i dont blame M-Audio oxygen but when I bought it they said it would work 100% with garageband. There are some reviews in youtube were people uses m-audio oxygen 25 with different softwares, i'll try one of those.

I wish there was a carying case for this one, the box (package) protects it pretty well but is too big. A paded side bag with custom fit would be perfect.

I purchased this because I needed something small that could fit easily on a desktop. The build quality solid. As for others who had issues with non-supported software, I can understand frustration with having to program it. I use it with Tracktion 3 (discontinued software) and had to program it. However, it was fairly easy to do once you know where to look in midi settings for your particular software.

I've had this MIDI controller for about 6 months now and it still hasn't let me down. The DirectLink driver to sync with your DAW works great and doesn't have anything lagging or not functioning. I run this through Logic Pro and it's great for making quick drum loops and/or background parts. I love the control knobs and fader - really useful. Really solid build, doesn't feel cheap like it's gonna fall apart. Great value for the money

You Must be MIDI savy to operate

The DirectLink software that instantly maps this unit to your DAW software only supports a very few DAWs out there and those cost a lot more then this controller. I use Traction 3 and its not supported. The manual gives absolutly no information on how to map this unit manually except to check your DAW software on how to do it. M-Audio should give its beginning MIDI customers a little know how in there manuals. Even better would be some basic software that would make this unit play a sound or two. Right now I have an interesting dust collector.
