I've had several bad experiences with this product. I have purchase two, both of which have been sent for repair (total of three times). It doesn't offer aftertouch and the amount of control knobs are limited. I have since purchased the Novation Remote 25, which is awsome!!! A little more money, but well worth it!
Easy to use and portable. Great for controlling your softsynth (I use Reason). The knobs are really handy with Reason. I use it all the time.It also allows you to tweek the midi parameters, but I don't like to go there!Only problem I've had is sometimes the note gets stuck. It will keep playing until you hit that key again. I don't know if the later models like Ozone have the same problem or not.
User friendly, drivers are great, does need improving but for the price range first rate job. Keys are touch sensitivevery good job by midi man great for the hobbyist or the pro. Being a student engineer/producer I love it!!!!
I purchased the oxygen 8 mainly for composing/arranging and transcribing music. It is an excellent addition to my digital studio, and works great to bring along with me on the road when inspiration hits-- all i need is my laptop and this keyboard! At home, i have it connected to my computer and sound module-- there is a bit of a delay if you have the audio routed throughvyour computer (depending on cpu speed and software), but I have mine routed through a sound module, so it sounds great. It works excellent in conjunction with my 76 key midi keyboard. I have not found much use for the control knobs, simply because I don't use it for performance, but I'm sure someone finds them very handy. The interface is very technical, so if that is not your thing, you might want to try a different model.
The person talking about not being able to setup the knobs obviously doesnt know the recording software very well.. And I know 4 people that own and use the oxy and theres been no breaks. BT(a Techno music producer) uses this on his latest tour.
The OXY8 is small in size but big on features. In the studio or one the stage it has helped me out many times.
if you play this, it is half a second off. It is hard to figure out how to get the knobs to control other knobs.
I don't know if I'm just bad with programming and such, but this controller wasn't right. I bought it and had no idea how to set it up. Finally I got the hang of it, after owning it for the better part of a year, the USB port became broken. I opened it up myself and saw the shady condition of how the USB port was actually installed. I don't recomend this one for beginners. It works to a point. Crappy construction quality.
The Oxygen 8 MIDI controller is an incredible smooth sleek tool when used with the correct synth-software. Versatility plus graceful engineering results in the quality of sound from the Oxygen 8. If you're into sweet sounds and lush vibrancy of tones, get the Oxygen 8.
