OVERVIEW

8 assignable knobs and sliders for custom hands-on control.

The M-Audio Radium 61-Key USB MIDI Controller is a new breed of controller. Designed to meet the needs of today's electronic musicians, Radium puts you in control of any 16 MIDI-assignable parameters within your favorite software programs. Radium is also a USB MIDI interface that speaks directly with your computer without any extra devices. You don't need a separate MIDI interface for this keyboard--it IS the MIDI interface.

Flexibility and control

Radium is perfect for applications like realtime soft synth control, virtual mixing, drum programming, live performance, and more. The keyboard even doubles as an intuitive user interface, making control assignments a breeze.

Radium lends itself to a wide variety of applications that help blur the difference between stage and studio.

Soft Synths

Software synths are very much a reality--and along with them come dozens of parameters just begging to be tweaked. Radium lets you leave the tedium of the mouse behind and put your hands on any 16 MIDI parameters of your choice in realtime.

Getting Deeper

Radium makes it easier for you to get deeper into your software programs. Unleash the full potential of your musical tools and push your creativity to the limit.

Live Performance

Radium gives you more freedom of expression on the stage than you've ever had before. And at only 8 lbs., Radium won't break your back.

Programming Drums

Why take hours to program drums with a mouse? Now you can use Radium to play grooves into your software in real time. Then use the 8 knobs and 8 sliders to manipulate the dynamics, feel, effects, and more.

Hardware Access

Synthesists can use Radium to put their hands on parameters normally buried deep within their hardware. Now it's easy to express yourself without having to navigate through dozens of menus.

Virtual Mixing

Who wants to mix with a mouse? Now you can use Radium's 8 sliders to control your virtual faders. Radium's knobs can also control pan, effects send amount, and much more.

Easy Control

Controls in the USB Keystation series aren't buried mysteriously in obscure menus. The keys have a second layer of functions, allowing you to program MIDI control information directly from the black and whites. Here's how it works:

Press the MIDI/Select button.
Press the note on the keyboard with label corresponds to the parameter you wish to change.
Use the Data Entry slider to select the value or enter numeric values by pressing the keys labeled with numbers.

Simple and elegant!

This is a great controller. I love all the knobs, sliders, and wheels. I've been using this for every softsynth application I own.If you're considering getting a 49/61 key controller, you won't find a better one for this price than the Radium 61. (only get the Radium 49 if you don't have the room for a 61 key)note:These aren't weighted keys. So if you're looking for weighted keys, M-Audio just came out with some new controllers at the last NAMM show. But I haven't seen them out yet.

There are 3 problems with this keyboard. First, you cannot store presets; second, you cannot assign program changes to sliders or knobs and changing programs takes many key strokes; third, occasionally notes do not send the note off message and they stay which is very annoying for organ or other sustained sounds.

I own it

By Deshawn (Big Time Beats)

This was a good investment for the money it works good with reason and its better than step writing with your mouse and it has helped me with my keyboard skills and I produce hip hop & R&B and it makes good beats.

Definitely Worth It

By j_man_47401

i use the Radium61 to control my Roland SH-32 synthesizer, and it does it perfectly. many of the controls come preprogrammed for effects like cutoff and resonance, and that's a plus. it's professional quality, and it's lightweight so it's easy to transport.

Keys 1/4

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Nothing else matters. The keys are too short, and if you really play keyboard (up on the black keys) you won't have enough leverage to play fast. Plus, you have presets, but they disappear when you turn off the keyboard - what's up with that.

Champ!

By honestrock

from Fort Lewis, WA

While some people might really want some kind of a die cast monster, I think this plays really well, and it has a ton of features too. It is awesome!

Not worth it

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

The key action is spongy and unnatural, which makes it difficult to play a nice tight passage. The knobs and faders are near useless (12 events per second? forget about a filter sweep) and the design is cheap overall. Plop down the extra money and get a Edirol PCR-80.

Definitely Worth the Investment

I use this MIDI controller to control my Roland SH-32 synthesizer, which has no keyboard, and I must say that i am very impressed with it. It's realtime controls are perfect and its light weight makes it extremely easy to transport.

Nice stuff

By Royalty-hF5nN

This is a nice keyboard. Not an MPC by a long shot, but its pretty close if you have the right soft synth. This is somewhat confusing if you just pick it up out of nowhere but the keyboard becomes second nature 5 minutes later.

No Easy Program Changes

By Wannabe443

from Agoura Hills, CA

The major knock on this device is that there is no easy way to change programs. You need to punch a bunch of keys so forget about patch changes on the fly. The rest of it is decent enough.
