OVERVIEW

Next generation, fully-integrated instrument for your computer and iPad.

Launchkey 61 is a 61-note keyboard controller with up to 50 physical controls including 16 velocity-sensitive multi-color trigger-pads. As well as enabling hands-on controller of your DAW’s mixer, instruments and effects, Launchkey is an integrated software/hardware instrument. The control surface has been designed to work tightly alongside two intuitive apps for iPad: the Launckey app and the Launchpad app - plus the powerful V-Station synth plug-in for Mac and Windows.

CREATE
Not just a controller keyboard - fully integrated instrument for Mac, PC & iPad
Launchkey includes an entire suite of software for iPad, Mac and PC including a brand new stand-alone synth app, a Launchpad app for triggering and improvising with loops, and the powerful V-Station and Bass Station soft synths for Mac and PC - not to mention Ableton Live Lite and a huge Loopmasters sample pack.

CONTROL
'InControl' technology instantly maps to all major DAWs and music software
Launchkey is a full-scale DAW controller for all major digital audio workstations, bringing mixer, transport and direct plug-in control to Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Reason, Logic, Cubase and more. With nine faders, up to nine buttons, eight rotary knobs and transport controls, you’re in complete control with Launchkey.

LAUNCH
16 velocity-sensitive multi-color launch pads - trigger loops and play drums
16 dual-color-backlit velocity-sensing Launchpad panels can be used to play drums, or trigger clips and scenes without having to go near the computer. Whatever software you use, the 16 launch pads are perfect for sketching out beats or playing in drum lines. If you use grid-based software such as Ableton Live or FL Studio, the launch pads will put loop control right at your fingertips.

PLAY
Professional synth-styled keyboard (with over 50 hardware controls)
The velocity-sensitive synth-style keyboard mechanism is accompanied by pitch and mod wheels and octave track up/down buttons. It recreates the feel of classic synth keyboards with precision, so playing styles can be reflected by the software as accurately as possible.

SOFTWARE
Launchkey comes with a suite of synth and Launchpad apps for iPad as well as the powerful Novation V-Station synth plug-in for Mac and PC – and more…

iPad Applications

Launchkey Application
Launchkey comes with a powerful and uniquely intuitive graphic sound synthesiser for iPad. Position and move sound-producing elements around the screen at the touch of a finger – location, proximity and characteristics change the sound in real time. The knobs and faders on the hardware can also be used to edit and tweak sounds within the app.

Launchpad Application
Second is a Launchpad styled application providing drag-and-drop clip playback from the pads, plus realtime FX manipulation such as beat repeat and stutter. The Launchpad app turns your iPad and Launchkey into a unique hardware/software loopstation.

Mac and PC software

Novation V-Station synth
V-Station is one of Novation’s powerful analogue-modelling synth engines in software form. V-Station is a plug-in (VST/AU/RTAS) so you can open it within your music software and get hands-on control with Launchkey hardware.

Novation Bass Station synth
The classic Bass Station analogue mono-synth first appeared in 1994 and has found its way onto countless records. Launchkey comes with a plug-in version of the synth which can be opened within your DAW and played / tweaked with the hardware controls.

Ableton Live Lite
Music production software used by countless top artists to produce and perform their music. Launchkey integrates with Ableton Live: as well as controlling mixer, transport and plug-in effects, the 16 launch pads work to trigger sounds using Ableton's unique "session view".

Loopmasters sample pack
Launchkey comes with over one gigabyte of samples from Loopmasters; everything you need to start creating and performing music straight away – including artist packs, drum samples and sound FX.

Comments about Novation Launchkey 61 Keyboard Controller:

I ordered this on 3/31/2013, and as of 8/11/2014 it no longer powers on. I powered it via USB and I also have a power adapter for it as well. It is out of warranty so now I have an expensive paper weight, I think the next one I get won't be as 'plastic' - I used this with Ableton, and at first it wasn't even supported. Spend a little bit more and get something that is a better overall value

Comments about Novation Launchkey 61 Keyboard Controller:

I love the fact that i no longer have to sit for hours and configure all the controls to all my computer junk.

I wish this thing had a midi out port in order to play some rack gear.

Definitely feels cheap, but hey its what you get.

I originally planned to get arturia but what sold me on this is really the "InControl" what a no brainer! please arturia have your device auto map to popular daws.

Comments about Novation Launchkey 61 Keyboard Controller:

I previously had a Behringer U-Control, which is a great controller for the price, but the included software just cannot compare to the awesome power that is Ableton. The Novation Launchkey is an extremely versatile instrument already without adding the luxury of Ableton.

A couple of my favorite features of the keyboard itself that I think set it apart from many others in the price range includes the 16 drum pads (launchpads), the 9 faders, and the transport controls. This is great for a beginner or an experienced musician.

Another thing I keep in mind when looking at different brands/models is who the endorsed or featured artists are for that particular brand. Novation has some heavy hitters on their list, that is a good sign!

Comments about Novation Launchkey 61 Keyboard Controller:

This is one of the most amazing MIDI keyboards I have ever used. The guy below me is just upset about the condition his came in. The knobs and sliders are plastic, but they are obviously sturdy. The customization on the keyboard itself is extremely helpful. I would recommend getting a sustain pedal though. It is a quality MIDI keyboard for the money.

      Cheap Feeling

Comments about Novation Launchkey 61 Keyboard Controller:

First I want to say that I ordered a "New" keyboard, and the one I received was clearly used. That left a bad taste in my mouth but could have easily been a mistake. That being said, I would have returned the keyboard anyway.

The best thing about this keyboard is the great number of controls and if you use Ableton Live, it is nice to have the clip launcher buttons. Especially because they are lighted and show the condition of the clips (if there is something in the clip, if it is stopped or currently playing. think Novation Launchpad buttons)

Now, I was looking for a decent keyboard and wasn't expecting miracles at this price point. But honestly I expected better quality. The keys feel just okay. The knobs and faders feel terrible. They are wobbly and super cheap. I take care of my stuff, but even I was worried the knobs and faders wouldn't last long.
I've been using a little Akai MPK mini for a long time, and was looking for something bigger and better. But this keyboard is not it. The Akai MPK mini feels better quality and will last longer, and it was way less expensive. I realize the big Akai MPK keyboards are a lot more than this Novation Launchkey, but I was hoping this Novaiton would cut it.
