The Roland V-Combo VR-700 combo organ is a multifunction keyboard that covers every base onstage without being a big, bulky rig. The V-Combo offers powerful realtime performance capabilities and a simple user interface. With a legendary Virtual Tone Wheel organ and dedicated harmonic bars onboard, plus a first-class array of essential ensemble sounds (grand piano, EP, strings, brass, synth leads, and more), the V-Combo melds an entire rig into one convenient instrument for easy transport and fast setup. Backing-track functionality, built-in rhythms, great effects, and a comfortable waterfall-style keyboard round out the feature set on the Roland VR-700 organ, making this multifaceted keyboard a godsend for gigging musicians.
Virtual Tone Wheel Technology
Roland's acclaimed Virtual Wheel technology is central to the V-Combo organ, complete with four-wheel types, nine dedicated harmonic bars, percussion settings, a rotary-speaker simulator, and amp simulators that reproduce the characteristics of speaker cabinets and tube circuits. With five amp types onboard, and with adjustable gain, you can transform the tone on your Roland organ from warm and smooth to full-impact overdrive.
Expressive Organ Performance
The 76-note, velocity-sensitive waterfall keyboard provides fast action and comfort”great for glissando and quick, repetitive strokes. The dedicated harmonic bars let you modify the organ sound naturally in real time, while the D Beam can be used for wheel brakes, ring modulation, spring shock, pitch, filter, and volume. The pitch lever can be used to change the speed of the rotary speaker. You can also split the keyboard to simulate a two-manual setup, and add a pedal board (Roland PK-25A or PK-7A, optional). The front-panel buttons illuminate so you can easily see the controls on dark stages.
Supreme Grand Piano
In addition to its world-class organ emulation, the Roland V-Combo organ has a gorgeous grand piano onboard. Derived from Roland's top-selling digital stage pianos, the VR-700 V-Combo's piano engine is based on 88-key stereo multi-sampling, with every note captured at multiple velocities in meticulous detail.
The Roland VR-700 V-Combo organ is packed with top-quality ensemble sounds, such as vintage electric piano, harpsichord, clav, choir, strings, brass, basses, and more. You can easily split and layer the ensemble sounds with each other or with the organ section; a dedicated Ensemble bar (conveniently colored red) adjusts the volume of the ensemble section so you can quickly mix between the ensemble and organ tones. Favorite buttons are provided for instantly recalling your favorite sounds onstage.
Generate an entire band's worth of sound from the Roland V-Combo's keyboard by triggering backing tracks directly from USB memory key (accepts WAV, AIFF, MP3, and SMF). The USB port can also be used to back up your patch settings and Favorites externally, making it possible to carry your V-Combo sounds and settings in your pocket.
For skill building and play-along fun, the V-Combo has a built-in rhythm-pattern generator. The Roland organ offers 51 rhythm patterns onboard that cover a variety of styles, including funk, rock, swing jazz, Afro-Cuban, and Latin pop. Comments about Roland VR-700 Combo Organ:
I just bought the VR-700 after trying everything else I could find in its class, including the Nord Electro, the Kurzweil PC3, the Korg SV-1, and both the Hammond XK-1 and XK-3c. As far as features, sound, quality, and usability, this thing blows them all away.I'm not particularly a fan of Roland's stuff generally, but this really does the job. It's got a great sounding (and very tweakable) organ, a very nice Leslie sim, and REAL DRAWBARS. It's also got over 300 other sounds on board, including quite a few great pianos, a couple of excellent Rhodes sounds, a Wurlitzer and CP-80 sound, a very good Clavinet sound, and all the usual synth fare. The user interface is completely intuitive - the organ section has everything you would expect from a B3 clonewheel, and you can easily switch to the other sounds and split & layer the keyboard. Particular configurations can be saved to 64 user presets (kind of like Korg Combis), and these preset banks can also be saved to a USB thumb drive.Like its competition, it allows a second keyboard and a pedalboard to be MIDI'd in, or alternatively you can use it with a sequencer where it will give you THREE MIDI channels for different organ sounds, and two MIDI channels for sounds.Even the manual was much more understandable than usual for Roland (not that it's perfect), but you will need it to get some of the advanced features out of the machine, because the one criticism of the unit is that the only display it has is a three-character LED, not a two-line display like a lot of synths. Not to worry, though, because all of the main operations you would need during performance are very intuitive. All in all, a very pleasant surprise from Roland in a very uniquely designed and well thought-out instrument.
- Heavy Duty Frame
- Poor Action
- Unrealistic sound
Comments about Roland VR-700 Combo Organ:
Have used roland keyboards since the 90s and like them hoping this keyboard would help me cut down on number having to haul. Liked organ sound and drums but after that it was weak in other areas , key feel is like synth and fast but not like a piano or b3. Tried to make myself like this but just could not get roland sounds or feel that I'm currently using sent back.
