I would have called it a dream if not for the fact that these do not support Arps. The mega sounds rock. The sounds tend to be a tad too sweet and that's not a serious complaint...just a suggestion for the next innovations in PSRs. I also own a motif es and can safely say that I enjoy playing the psr3K more than the motif. It's a tad expensive but quality is amazing. And for those folks who have a problem with the keys...please understand that an Electronic Keyboard is not a Piano. If you want piano type keys...go buy a piano. This instrument is for the electronic musician who does not need to bang his fingers on weighted keys for different effects. Instead she uses smart hand movements to change settings instruments with her fingers while also playing music...an electronic keyboard is a completely different instrument from a piano requiring different skillsets.

I am dissapointed with this keyboard because of the quality of it's construction. The sound and features are the best I've seen on any model of comparable price. But the keybord action is cheap to the point of not being playable. The first psr300 I purchased even had a stuck note after a week. The reploacement is already cracked on it's shell, and I've been pretty careful with it. I am confused about the product, because the features and sound lead me to believe it was a professional product, the construction on the other hand is secserely sub-par. I could have spent less money for a higher quality product. I also own a Yamaha electric piano which I have been amazed with for almost a year.

Love it

By basketlady07

I have heard about it, and actually want one. currently playing a Casio, my last Casio. To the person who says that all Yamahas are like playing plasic spoons, you review does me no good. What do you expect, a piano. get real. I have played one, so far tested it at another store, and I love how it plays, and sounds. a little tricky at first, but after I have figured it out (in all about 5 mins), I was hooked. If you want a Tyros, without all the other stuff and the price of one, (what the heck is a voice enhancer anyway?) Then the PSR3000 is for you.

Best Keyboard I've ever owned

By Cjayasuriya

See all my reviews

I bought the PSR3000 few years back and been jammin on it happily ever since. This is an awesome keyboard for the buck!. You can customise prettymuch every thing on it. You can make any beat you want on it. I use it for one man shows all the time and people say it sounds like a whole band playing. One thing I really wished it had was a better Indian Tabla kit since I use it to play lot of "Bila" Sri lankan native music. I have a Boss Dr670 to go with it which took care of that problem purchased through Musicians friend online. Finally I would like to say this keyboard is the best choice for someone creative!!

Yamaha is ripping people off Unless your elton John you cant afford yamaha products they are asking to much$$$$ for these toys PSR keyboards the keys on all of them are like plastis spoons all 61 key and yamaha is asking thousands for these cheesy keyboards I nick name the tyros the Toyrus sorry yamaha I think im going to buy from Roland or Korg they are 100's of other companys to choose from people dont mind to buy something but no one likes to overpay and not get what they are looking for....yamaha will not put arpeggios in the Toyros and asking over four thousand dollars and still small light weight keys!! make a Tyros with at least 76 box type keys and a arpeggioes and drop all the karaoke song list and cheesy harmony and you might had made a useful keyboard....sorry but true.

Amazing

By Mind Mechanic

See all my reviews

I thought that every machine with internal speakers was a toy, but this clearly is not. The sound through internal and with external speakers is excellent. The organs are much better than my Yamaha S08 and S03 synths, but not quite as good as our Hammond XK-2, but close enough. Much more intuitive programming than other Yamaha products such as the synths and earlier PSR series machines. The kids and I use this for home, but this could easily be a good versatile gig machine - much lighter than the XK2 or S08, and more versatile than tha S03 (which I carry to weekend gigs now). The sounds cannot be customized as easily as on the synths, so I am neutral on the electric-piano sounds. The grand-piano sound is amazing, in keeping with Yamaha tradition - truly amazing through good amps.I want a single keyboard with great synth, organ, and piano sounds, and this is the closest I have seen. This has become my favorite machine.

Very good keyboard but not perfect

By Chris-B4goY

from Reno NV

See all my reviews

I have had the PSR series before cause for some reason I liked the sounds compared to other synths, even if it's a portable. The PSR 3000 is no exception. The sound quality is sweet. I always wanted the best of the PSR series and finally got it. So much can be customized and the style accompanyment is a very helpful tool in creating new ideas. Only two problems I've found so far: Sometimes when you delete a recorded track it doesn't delete properly and leaves some kind of noise. This can be solved when you delete further back on bar measures, but it can get in the way of the punch-in/punch-out method. Happens mostly on live strings. The other is the pre-set style accompanyment: Compared to the earlier models the pre-sets are rather boring. Which is okay since it has a great customizing feature where you make your own styles. Just gotta use imagination.I will say I got my money's worth. It's an excellent keyboard and a very useful tool for writing music.

Great keyboard !

By Fred-R-w6K

from St. Louis, MO

This is the 3rd generation of PSR's that I have owned. The only limititation with this keyboard is your imagination.I own Kurzweil and Ensoniq keyboards but I have had more fun with my Yamaha PSRs then any other. I record CD's on a Yamaha Workstation and the sounds of the instruments are incredible. When you push it through a sound system, it 'kicks butt'! Needless to say "I'm sold on Yamaha".

Plain and Simply The Best

By Rene-LZXD2

from Maryland, USA

This keyboard sounds are amazingly real, prize is very competitive, and all the features are very easy to learn and use. Strings, Brass, and all the rythm patterns are excellent. This instrument is a perfect for a person that is a one man bad or wants to do a decent arrangement of a musical selection. I'm a musician with 45 years of experience, I bought it, I use it on my gigs, people love the sound. I am extremely satisfied with it!

This one has everything you're looking for!

By Abailey

from Decatur, AL

The PSR-3000 has combined all the features you could possibly ask for in a professional keyboard. The arranger features are excellent, with so many built-in styles and room to expand. Each style has 3 different intros, 4 variations on the main style, and 3 endings to choose from. The voices are truly exceptional. The sequencer is rather basic with no copy and paste section editing. But the rest of the features certainly make up for it. I'm just getting started with this board, but already I see so much potential. A nice feature I didn't know it had, is when you plug into a PA system using the 1/4" jack(s), you don't lose the onboard speakers like when you plug in headphones; the speakers are your built-in monitors! How cool is that?! All you need is a keyboard amp to project into the audience and you're all set. If you need a comprehensive keyboard for your church that allows for lyric output to a video monitor, or a soloist who needs a quality keyboard for midi file backing tracks with vocal harmony, this is it!

I wish Yamaha gave it better keys

By Jeffrey Doan

from San Jose, CA

See all my reviews

My only complaint is about the keys, they are a little bit cheesy and doesn't have the after-touch feature (like the Tyros). Otherwise, the thing is very easy to use and does sound great. The Internet feature is quite limited (can only be used to buy & download stuff from Yamaha -- I wish it has a little browser built in).If you buy this board and want a good keyboard case, buy the YBTYROS (designed by Yamaha for the Tyros but will fit the psr3000 just fine). I spent so much time looking for a good case & now am happy settling down with the YBTYROS.

This instrument is amazing! Sounds are very very realistic especially the live strings, and live grand piano. The features alone seem to go on forever. Another winner from Yamaha.

High quality sounds, flexible machine

By Gustx

from Laredo, Tx

See all my reviews

I've had it for a year or so. The voices are great, especially the organs, strings, woodwinds. Guitars and pianos are also good but in my opinion you have to tweak and add effects to them in order to achieve a more solid sound. There are plenty of options to do this and more, this machine will keep you busy and give you many hours of interesting playing around. Most of the styles are good but again, what saves the day is the ability to change and personalize them. Even so I have not found a way to use my personalized sounds on an edited style (a minor detail). A great feature is its connectivity. The usb in accepts any usb memory so you can easily store and retrive any song, style, etc. The psr 3000 is not very easy to use for a begginner but it is worth the learning curve. If you don't really deeply need the vocal harmonizer (which is not that good at all).. go for the 1500, practically the same keyboard for less money.

Best Uses

When I first purchased this product about 7 years ago...I actually settled for it financially because I wanted a MOTIF. I can tell you that the countless hours I performed with this board was well worth it. This keyboard has so many great function that to this day I have not touched 60 percent of them. Although my next one is going to be MOTIF for upscaling purposes only, the 3000 can hold its own if you know how to operate it fully, I wouldn't trade my PSR-3000 for nothing in this world.

    Solo dream

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I wanted a keyboard to use in solo gigs. As an actual Hammond B3 owner I wanted a single keyboard for piano, organ and backing. This board reproduces the Hammond very well and the rotory speaker sound imitates my 122's slowing down speed to winding up to fast speed. As an aging musician the Hammond is way to much to to move around. This fit the bill very well.
