As many have already stated, this won't do any sequencing or sampling, but I was looking for the best piano sound and keyboard feel out there and this was it... The strings, to me sounded superior to the triton's as well... There's only one harpsichord though, and it doesn't sound that good to me... There are quite a few chips to expand it's strings and piano's and all that though, and I can only imagine how that would greatly add to it... I'm eager to try... There is a very easy analog influenced slider approach to editing the sounds too, which I find easier than on any other synth, and there's alot you can do, but be careful as the thing automatically saves any changes, and so you have to reboot the original presets if you don't want your grand piano sound to sound like the keyboard from Shine On You Crazy Diamond that you just accidentally warped it into... This is the same sound engine and keyboard for digital piano that Stevie Wonder uses, without the sequencing, which, for some reason, I doubt he does a whole lot of himself, unless they make one with a brail display... I think Yamaha just puts a motif in his hands for product placement...Whatever Stevie uses is good enough for me...

Own it, use it

Versatile, great Fender/Rhodes and B3 sounds. super reliable and tough. I've used it 3-4 night a week for the past year and a half without fail. The only capability missing is a pedal switch from fast to slow vibrato on organ sounds.

Love my S-90

I picked up my S-90 after a bad experience with an SP-88X. I absolutely love my Yamaha. I used to have a KX-88 years ago. And the action was killer on my KX. But the action on my S-90 is much improved. I am a worship leader and play all the time. And this keyboard is doin it for me. Great sounds, easy to use, and it feels and responds like a piano. I would never give my S-90 up.

Best feel Best sound

By pharmboyjoe

If you play live, let your computer do the sequencing, etc, and drag this to the stage. Comes with sequencing software (SQ01) and editing tools. Keys feel like a topline grand piano(maybe better!), and the sounds are just fantastic. Incredible grand and electric pianos, awesome organs, funky clavinovas - all in factory presets. You can turn it on and go. Just play one and see!!

Best I've played

By JesusFreak

from Fort Worth, Texas

I purchased this keyboard a year ago now and all I can say is that I'm the pickiest keyboardist you'll meet. Trained classically on an acoustic spinnet, I lean towards the real thing and therefore refused for years to even own a keyboard. After going through many different models (once I realized no roadie is willing to haul an acoustic piano - haha), I finally stumbled across the Yamaha S90 when I had my heart set on a Kurzweil. Well, thank God most places don't sell K's anymore because I would have missed out on an amazing keyboard. It has the most realistic piano sound I've heard and has excellent samplings of other sounds. Great for live performance. My only qualm - there's so much do learn on it! Will I ever learn it all! :)

top of the line

By Synthfreak

My s90 is now a year old. No problems, no complaints, no malfunctions. This is a versatile keyboard with just about any sound you need. Great piano sound, great feel, great effects, great synth sounds. Just all around wonderful. If you are looking for a mobile synth with a lot of options, this one is for you.

Solid Built, Best Piano Sound and Feel

By Progger

from Seattle, WA

As stated elsewhere, this isn't a powerhouse synth, but what it does as a synth only complements the perfection Yamaha has achieved in creating as true of a digital piano as has ever existed. The feel of the keyboard is unmatched, as is the sound, and any improvements that could be made in the future would be only of a small incremental worth (well, I can only imagine anyhow). If you want the best digital piano in any price range, this is it, and it's a great value to boot.
