Comments about Yamaha S90XS 88-Key Balanced Weighted Hammer Action Synthesizer:
Amazing keyboard! Great piano sounds, key action. Looks super cool too! Everything is easy accessible via the topside buttons. Can setup new performances, splits, layers quickly. A great feature is the USB device slot. For rehearsals with me and singer, we plug her mic into the mic jack, insert memory stick and quickly and easily record rehearsals. Record and playback are a snap. The only real suggestion I have is for Yahama to create footswitch to change arps instead of lifting left hand off the keyboard. However, its still relatively easy to make in performance changes. Yamaha customer service is great, as I've had a few questions and they've been very helpful. You can control two parts with different expression pedals. More voices than I know what to do with and all sound great. Strings, organs, keys, guitars, bass all sound real. And of course, the best piano sounds, especially the S6. There are multiple S6 samples, along with multiple grands & upright, tacky, house piano, etc.

This product delivered exactly what it said. The only thing I was surprised with was that the reference manual & voice/drum listings were on pdf files on a cd rom, however, after seeing the size of these manuals it makes perfect sense. It make it nice to be able to do a search on the computer for a specific subject instead of fingering through manually. This item does not have speakers so make sure you get some powered speakers too.
This keyboard has so many features, it blows my mind. I have been playing with it continuously for about a month & I keep finding new stuff.
I have only owned this for a month, but I have found no problems so far. I have used every input/output on the keyboard & have no complaints so far.
Comments about Yamaha S90XS 88-Key Balanced Weighted Hammer Action Synthesizer:
I've recorded 3 CD's with my S90 with plans to do more, and I have no intention of trading this in for another keyboard. All things considered, you everything at your fingertips to record an entire album -- drum machine, bass, synth, keyboard, etc. -- using this instrument. For piano enthusiasts, the real piano feel is uncanny. No other brand apart from Yamaha has been able to mimic the hammer action on an acoustic piano so closely. Of course, I still prefer the weighty action of a grand to the S90, but the feel considering this is a keyboard is still pretty amazing.Whether live or in studio, the S90 has everything you need. I encourage anyone who purchases one of these instruments to do plenty of experimenting. As familiar as you'll become with this thing, it will still be surprising you a year later. Let's give the S90 the respect it's due: it's not a synth, a controller, or a piece of electronics. This is a genuine musical instrument!

What an awesome keyboard...I waited MONTHS for this when it first came out. The anticipation and the expectations couldn't have been higher. My expectations were SO high that I feared I'd be let down once it finally arrived. But amazingly, I was not.I play in a working band and use this keyboard as the centerpiece of my rig, which includes two other keyboards (Rolands) and two other rack synths(one's a Triton). I've used all brands of weighted keyboards over the years, and have FINALLY got the perfect one. Great piano sound and feel. Best I've ever had. I've had great digital pianos too. But to use them to trigger patches which require a mod wheel or a pitch bend didn't work so well, of course. It is a GREAT synth, too. Holy cow...having played keyboards for about thirty-five years, this is EASILY the most amazing kybd I've ever played. I've had the best synths...the best pianos...but never thought I'd ever play on one kybd that I enjoyed more than all of them.As keyboardists, we all have our preferences...our favorites. But no matter who you are, or what you like...you will at the very least seriously respect this keyboard if you ever get to use one. Just awesome.
Comments about Yamaha S90XS 88-Key Balanced Weighted Hammer Action Synthesizer:
The Yamaha s90xs is a beast. I?ve owned many keyboards in my 35+ years and this is the top of the line product for both performing and studio work. I?m a music educator as well as a performer? and this synth/stage piano combo is ideal for the live stage situation. I have a 4 piece band that plays at a local coffee shop and this is a perfect keyboard for the performer who wants the right sound ?right now?. The engine is the same as the ?flagship? MOTIF XS? so there are endless possibilities with sounds. I have played the Motif XS and have found the ?learning curve? to hinder the live performer? it takes too long to feel comfortable using. Well, here comes the answer. In my humble opinion? I could see this? S90XS or the S70XS being the answer for those who struggle with the large learning curve that accompanies the MOTIF.Don?t get me wrong, if you are just looking for a keyboard that you only need limited sounds for playing? the Yamaha CP300 or the Yamaha CP30?might be a better ?stage piano? for you? although I have lugged a CP300 around for the past summer and it weighs 70+ pounds?with case and is a back breaker to lift out of the case on to the stand. So far, there are so many features that the s90xs has that I?m still learning about?. But I love exploring? and the more I learn? the more I find that they?ve gone that ?extra mile? for the performer. Honestly? for the bucks? it is an awesome keyboard? it looks great? it feels great to play? and most importantly? it sounds unbelievable. Understand, that there are no speakers with this keyboard? but I come from the ?old school? that if it has speakers? it just one step away from being a Casio? sorry? I know that this is not the case today? but this can be a concern for some. So, bring your powered speakers? or a suitable amplifier. Not a big deal for most performers. It truly measures up to all the hype! It was worth the wait. Consequently, this is the most well built instrument from the keys to the housing. All the buttons are very sturdy and look as though they?ll handle the live performance. Plus, the button choices are lit up for dark performance settings? the display is not overwhelming? partly because most all your choices are on the top of the keyboard so that you can edit ?on the fly?. Now that?s cool. Some keyboards I?ve owned? the display is so big, it?s like looking at a monitor of a cartoon. The s90xs/s70xs are very classy? very professional looking. one strange thing is that Yamaha at the present time have a case that fits the length of this keyboard... go figure.
Comments about Yamaha S90XS 88-Key Balanced Weighted Hammer Action Synthesizer:
I got this keyboard 3 weeks ago and I love it! I don't actually play a lot of synth but the action is what sold me on it. It's the most piano-like feeling keyboard I found. I do a lot of chording and it's awesome for that. It's extremely easy to use. There are a lot of features that can be confusing if your not familiar with them. I was also looking at the Roland RD 700GX but liked the way this one played and the recording capabilities this one has. If you've got the time to play around with it this is your keyboard but if you're looking for something simpler but still has the great piano-like feel you should check out the P-155. Bottom line, you WON'T be sorry!

This thing is awsome! I own it and play prof. in night clubs. this is an incredible unit. Ease of use during play. The learning curve is a bit more than I would have liked, but I must say Yamaha's tech servs are just as good as the keyboard. Send them a question via email and you get a response w/ in 24 hours every time. Got to get this unit. The mega voices are just unbelievable. Great Value for what you get. Closest Hammond B-3 sounds w/ leslie I've heard!
