When I got this keyboard yesterday I stayed up till 3am playing with it. It has hundreds of things you can do with it, it may not be a casio and feel like a real piano but I personally like it better because there is soooo much you can do with it. all the 500 voices are as realistic as they can get. they keys arent weighted which kinda sucks for using the piano but otherwise i have not one complaint. lastly the speakers sound amazing and of very high quality. One of the best items i have bought in my life :)

The YPG535 does not have a good quality piano sound. I purchased this keyboard for a school and am very disappointed in the quality of the feel, touch, and sound of the instrument. I personally own a Casio Privia with weighted keys (same price), but sounds and feels MUCH better than the Yamaha YPG 535. This keyboard was ordered by a school over the summer, and I just now opened the box and set it up to use (end of August). I'm not sure at this point if I can exchange it for a different keyboard.

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

If you're looking for a cheap professional keyboard, then you should save your money for a little while longer. This is a great in-home keyboard with lots of features and nice sound for recording, but if your like me and are expecting a whole lot more than your cheapy Yamaha 76 key keyboard, then save up your money for something professional.

The 6-track recorder makes it easy to arrange songs with layered/multiple sounds and accompaniment. The Styles library even has 160 preset beats. I wish there were more styles, but the ones that are there have served me well.

I have played many keyboards that were of the same price/quality range and I am very satisfied with this pruduct. The manual is easy to use and the select buttons are very user friendly. I bought it to practice at home because my main instruments were at the rehearsal space but I am considering using it in live performances. Great sounds and great portability by removing the 4 screws that are underneath to use on any other music stand.

The keys seem very durable and the touch sensitivity works well. This keyboard has turned out to be exactly what I was looking for when I bought it.

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

Packed full of features, for the price. The Grand Piano sound is good once you reduce the on-board effects. Was disappointed that it doesn't have a piano-feel. Was really hoping for a weighted action, but overall, I can't complain. It's a beautiful board, sounds great, and had a reasonable pricetag. I made a great choice.

Disappointed in Yahama YPG-535 88-key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard

            By Janet E Dobbs

            from Alabama

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

It has lots of potentially good sounds but on mine they do not measure up. If it sounded like the demos it would be fantastic! Mine sounds like an out of tune piano. If this was my only experience with Yahama I would be inclined to never even consider anything that has the Yamaha name on it. I am used to playing a REAL Yahama grand piano that is wonderful!
I was not able to play it much right after receiving it and discarded the carton and packing or I would have sent it back.
The touch is horrible! If I play a little harder to increase volume the sound is distorted - just horrible!
I have a 61 key Casio that is about 38 years old and the touch on it is really good. No distortion when played heavier.
I will not recomend this to anyone.

Rich Sound/Feature Keyboard, Cheap Feel Keys

            By GGarner

            See all my reviews

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

When the keyboard is first turned on, the sound wows. Piano tone is fantastic, and speakers are dead-on. When layering tones, sound can become sketchy, especially with sustain pedal (only 32 note polyphony). On-board arranging is powerful once it?s figured out. The wide variety of intro/outro/fill sounds with accompaniment chords and beats is intuitive and endlessly entertaining (I?m lovin? some EuroTrance . . . mm-tss-mm-tss). Playing high up on the keys or loud on the pinkies can be a little difficult. The GST feel allows for excellent expression but can make an irritating *snatch* sound when depressed. I returned the keyboard for a Casio PX130 because of its hammer-weighted feel, but the Casio couldn?t beat the Yamaha?s ability to fine tune settings, especially reverb.User interface is clear and excellent via the selection wheel. Extra songs can be saved by hooking a flash/jump drive into the back of the keyboard, though its user interface is a little trickier.Output: 1/4" jack

I received my Yamaha piano to-day and I am very surprised at the quality of the product for the price. I took lessons when I was young. I am retiring, and plan to start learning all over again. After two hours I learned a lot about this piano, and I am excited to learn to play. This site delivered 100%. I will do all of my music shopping from them. What a great store. If your thinking about buying this product you should.

Good keyboard. Initial keyboard purchased on line and quality control issues with middle C not working or working part time were problematic. Getting support from the dealer and then from Yamaha were frustrating. Customer support should have a real human aspect. Instrument is used to accompany others and teach lessons as well as student practice.

Purchaced one of these for my son. Wasn't long before 2 series of keys started behaving erratically (volume) then quit altogether. I called Yamaha's support desk and got no response. I would rate this a complete piece of junk and wouldn't recommend any Yamaha product based on their customer response.

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

I took piano lessons about 10 years ago, but never owned a piano of my own, just a piece of junk no name keyboard to practice on (I was in kindergarden at the time. The keyboard didn't NEED to be good). I play percussion, and started to miss piano, so for Christmas, I asked for a keyboard. After months of research(I started in October), I came across the YPG 535. I immediately knew it was what I wanted. When Christmas finally came around, I set it up. Setup was a breeze. The grand piano setting is dead on. It was amazing. It comes with a music stand thing, which was very nice, as well as a sustain pedal. The included headphones are also very good quality. All in all, if you're thinking about buying this keyboard, buy it.

I really love it! It has so many features that it will take me quite a while to learn it all. We have a lot of fun with the sound effects at home. Has very good sound. I love the 32 note polyphony and it has 4 touch sensitivity levels and that's pretty cool. I love the backlit LCD display too. The music database is really neat. A good price for all the functions and it comes with the AC adapter and a sustain pedal and music rest. I only wish I could adjust the height on the stand, but I am just pleased that it came with the stand! Very good sound system in it too. I have no complaints. Yamaha is the best brand in my opinion.

Well packaged, not damaged in transit. FULL 88 KEYBOARD !! Really like the sound of the grand. Got a foot pedal separately, you don't want to use the included one. Comes with music stand and is not unusually heavy. Have not tried to connect to computer but plan to make some digital recordings at some point. Comes with some software I haven't installed yet.

This will be in our family for a long time. Well done Musician's Friend and Yamaha. Excellent sales person on the phone, helped me find what I needed with piano bench and foot pedal. Small shipping charge because it is over-sized.

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

The touch on this keyboard doesn't send my old fingers into sharp pain as the weighted key do. So for me the softer touch enables me to enjoy playing again. The sound is ok and if you are just learning it is a great investment to test the resilience of the student with. Are they going to stick with it.. if so then purchase them a more expensive instrument ... I was confused on the description in one place it states sustain pedal comes with it and then in another part at the bottom of the page under "auto tune" its says sustain sold seperately... This does come with a sustain pedal.. No need to purchase one separately.......

Comments about Yamaha YPG-535 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard:

We bought a restock model for a little cheaper. Not a single problem so far. It was easy to assemble and it sounds great. The screen is not so easy to see however. Overall, great cheap keyboard.
