Comments about Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Sequins Hi-Top Sneakers:
I had decided that I wanted to pick up a pair of these fairly outrageous-looking Chuck Taylors to give my normal stage outfits of black jeans and generic T-shirts a touch of "bling", but by the time I'd placed my order my size in "Rainbow" had sold out and I purchased the "Grey" instead. And while that might have been a blessing in disguise (the fading Black-To-Grey coloring along with the sequins tone down the "peacock"-like aspects while still making a interesting-looking sneaker) overall I felt that the sneakers were not worth keeping for the following reasons:1) Construction: for the high price (for Converse Chuck Taylors) that these are sold for it feels as if the sequins are barely attached, and if worn would rapidly shed them. It's not as if the sneakers themselves are badly constructed, but I see no way of being able to attach such small items to the outside of the shoe without a very big risk of having them fall off quickly. It's a shame as the concept is a nice one, but the execution is one that I'm simply not sure can be done properly and hold up to actual usage.2) Coloring: while the fading of the "Grey" color from a dark near-black to a lighter grey is a nice one, the use of the standard white toe-stop & sole material is one that does not fit the design of the sneakers well... the all-black soles used on the "Black Mono" color would have been a far better choice to fit with the darker coloring of the upper portion of the sneaker.3) Price: connecting with the construction aspect of this product, for the price that these sneakers are sold at I would certainly expect better quality. Again, I do not believe that Converse intentionally set out to make a lesser product, but unfortunately the concept did not fit with the final product.Because of the above I chose to return my purchase. Perhaps if used only sparingly and carefully these would indeed be a good choice for someone looking to "jazz up" an outfit, but I felt that the price-to-quality ratio was too low to make them a worthy purchase.
