I bought this a few months ago. I'm not all professional about recording but I know my way around. This software does everything I need it to do. It works well and for the price is definitely worth it. The effects aren't the greatest, but, you can always pick up more VST plugins. If you're putting together a home studio with your PC or Mac and are strapped for cash, pick it up. You won't be sorry.
My friend has garage band for is mac and another friend has cakewalk guitar tracks pro......... I wanted to get guitar tracks also, but it was almost 50 bucks more at the time and I had heard about their softwear not working and garage band was out of the picture cuz i have a pc so i opted for this. i was surprized at how easy it was, but after seeing my friend with garage band i just didnt see anything special about this, its all square and grey and dull, sure you can screw with the colours, but it looks tacky most of the timeoverall... only buy this if you dont have the $$$ for better stuff, it is good for the price
First - Does not work with quicktime 7 - You have to downgrade. Second, you can't make your computer become a midi slave to other devices. Third - even though you have to use a security dongle, customer service won't help you without a faxed or scan of the registration card. Forth - AISO drivers only no WDM support. Worst software experience ever!
Yo Im Sir Blesst a christian rap recoding artist. This software is perfect for home studios. The production is cazy its real good on the real. It goes good wit a MXL 990 recoding mic and a CAD popfilter.
For anyone reading... This program won't do files larger than 2GB. This is a problem if you are doing concert archival, but for the average home recordist should not be a problem. SE does not work with broadcast wav files (bwf is a format that uses more than 2 chan in a single file) The plugin selection sucks, although many free plugins are available online. Even though the comparision chart says it has uv22 dithering there is no way to turn it on, and no referance to it in the help file. Here again, ditering vst plugins are available. For my uses, which is primarily concert archival in 24/96 the program is basically useless.
I have the Cubase SX and that one is really good, easy to use, intuitive; this one also features that but bit it lacks of plug-ins. I've got to say that for the price you get a recording software good enough for home recording, so if you want to start recording your music and don't want to (or can't) spend so much this is the one.
This software is off the chain. It is great for bringing concepts to reality. It has lots of features for the price and sounds great when projects are mixed in it. If your pockets are low but you don't want to compromise yo sound start with SE.
Just a note, after buying this I discovered that Steinberg has a new release, Cubase SE3 which I don't see available yet from here. You may want to check their website for the list of new features and decide whether or not you want to wait.
