The Bellafina SSE Electric Violin Outfit offers full functionality for practice, studio, or stage. The outfit comes with a 1/4" output that will plug into most guitar amps or PA systems (cable included), volume control, earphone jack for practice, and an Aux In with volume control so you can accompany your favorite CD while practicing. The SSE Electric Violin also features an upper-left bout for position playing plus both lower bouts, so you can use your current shoulder rest. Choose a 4-string or 5-string that covers the full range of a violin and viola. The versatility of Bellafina's Electric Violin makes it great for rock, jazz, classical, and other musical styles. Its an expensive piece of equipment made out of plastic, and it would not stay tuned. Its unbelievable how expensive it is, and how poorly constructed it is. The knobs, on off switch, everything has a cheap feeling to it. My neighbor thought it was a controller for guitar hero when i showed it to her. I do not recommend this, you do not get what you pay for with this item.

The body and fingerboard are plastic, but it is rigid enough to hold and play the strings. It just needs to be properly set-up. The nut is insufficiently grooved, so the strings are too high. The bridge may need to be lowered, too. I got it set-up and it is just fine. The voice is way better than the Wood Violins' new solid-body Stingray, and as good as the NS Design's WAV4 / WAV5. I know that because I took it to a violin shop and compared them with the same audio equipment with the same settings.

It sounds great with headphones or an amp and the case is good too, nice construction
The sound quality is fair for the price without headphones or amplification, but once you plug it in be ready for a ride that will take your ears and please them. The build is great and it does have alot of plastic(or what looks to be) but it is an amazing product.

This violin is a contradiction to itself, while the electronics are somewhat decent the construction is especially poor. When I tuned the instrument, the neck (which may have been made of plastic, but I'm not entirely sure) began to bow upward in a fashion that made the instrument almost unplayable. this was because the strings were too far over the fingerboard. It seems that Bellafina crammed a bunch of electronics (where most of the cost probably is) into a cheap plastic frame, neglecting the fact that the standard violin is under some eighty pounds of pressure from the back to the strings. I thought about getting the instrument made playable, but I would be embarrassed to bring such a cheap violin shaped object into their store and asking them to fix it. All in all, I would not recommend the Bellafina SSE 4 or 5 to another musician. Just buy the Silver creek electro-acousic over there or put a pickup on your acoustic instead. Finally if you must have a solid body just save up the extra money and buy and WAV 4 or stingray, you'll be glad you did.

I don't think it's as bad as they say, my experience was much easier. It sounds great, it has good control, and it's black! However, it is mainly plastic, I agree, but it is great for my style of music. Not everyone's opinion will be the same but I for one, like it.

I took a chance after reading the other reviews and got one anyway (I knew I could return it if I didn't like it).Many plastic parts, but not entirely plastic. The body and neck are solid wood (which is probably where the weight comes from). I like the fact that I can use my regular shoulder rest (which is adjusted to MY body), and that the ghost of the upper bout is there for upper position reference. Great set-up for a plastic fingerboard - very easy to play. Useable volume with no amplification for "silent" practice. Unlike the one of the other reviewers, I experienced no hiss (may be a poorly grounded cable, or CD input gain turned up too high?). Overall, lots of fun, especially when run through the cheap guitar FX pedal my son uses.Performance well beyond its price level overall. Not a Yamaha, but affordable for my uses.

The WHOLE THING is plastic--everything from the scroll to the neck, to the fingerboard. The only bits that aren't plastic are the strings, and various odds and bobs involved in the electronics. The one I received had a crack in the heel. This should be sold in the toy department for a small fraction of the price. It is much more fragile than an acoustic violin. For this money, you should be able to get something better.

I received my Bellafina SSE 5 string electric today, and it's going back tomorrow. Mine was a "scratch n dent", and has a large crack at the heel. Almost the entire instrument is PLASTIC. It seems much more fragile than an acoustic violin.It has a volume control, but no tone control. On the upside, it sounds good, and came fitted with 5 fine-tuners.
