Comments about Florea Lupeni Double Bass Outfit:

I bought a Chinese upright from Musicians Friend many years ago. It lasted a long while but eventually it started having issues that weren't repairable. I shopped around and was going to buy an Engelhardt upright bass. I played many upright basses but couldn't get them at the price I wanted. I finally ordered the Florea Lupeni Double Bass. I haven't regretted it.

It came in well packed and played right out of the box after tuning. I haven't used the bow but it was in good condition in the gig bag. Since I play with the strings at the lowest setting, it plays like a dream.

The wood grain is gorgeous. Just the fact that the wood comes from the Carpathian mountains (home of Dracula) makes it that much sweeter. The hardware is nice and solid. The adjustable bridge is nice. Since its the second upright I've owned I can't compare it to too many, other than the one's I played in stores.
