Comments about Alfred Michael Aaron Piano Course Lessons Grade 1:

I used this book to get started learning the piano, but I was already a guitar player with some formal music training so I knew how to read music. A beginner with no reading skills will struggle with this book unless they have an instructor. However it's a good book, and a good series. With this book you can go from zero to playing simple pieces in a few weeks, even pieces that are in other books.

The book takes you progressively through the use of both hands, different keys, and some of the basic notation. However, without an instructor or previous musical training you may not fully understand what it is you are learning.

If you are a musician and want to cross-train to the piano this is an excellent book. The pieces you learn to play are both simple and challenging but also pleasing to hear (No Volga Boatman, Little Brown Jug or trash like that) and develop important techniques that you can use. Both hands are treated equally. I recommend it.
