Tape recorders used to be a valuable accessory for the songwriter or performer looking to quickly capture those inspired ideas without a lot of fuss. The problem was the compact cassette is notoriously unreliable, prone to breaking and getting caught up in the tape recorder mechanism, and often making recordings of questionable sound quality.
