Comments about Acronova Xymba Dual-Drive Auto CD/DVD Duplicator:
I bought this burner a couple months ago. Very excited when I bought it and it worked fine the first few hours.
About four hours after getting it and testing a few discs I finally decided to fill it up and let it run overnight. Before I left I heard something snap and the error light turn on. Upon further inspection I found a delaminated disc with chips on the edges was in the burner. I figured it was a fluke and, after resetting everything and taking the bad disc out, started it again. The very next disc did the same thing and after ten resets I called it a night.
The next day was no better so I investigated. The loading of the discs is done using three turning wheels that work like cork screws. They turn and separate the discs from the rest of the stack, pause, then start again, dropping the disc (in theory) into the open tray of one of the burners.
The turning wheels broke my discs whether there was a large stack or a single disc. When they did the first turn I could see the disc bow and creak, then the second turn would chip, delaminate, or even sometimes shatter the disc.
Since I couldn't think of any solutions, I called Acronova. Tech support did a very good job trouble shooting. my only gripe was they told me it was my disc but they couldn't recommend a disc to me. It seems that even if they find a disc that works they can't point customers to it since the next batch of the exact disc may not work with their machine.
After about an hour of running the machine through tests I asked if I could send ten of my discs in to have them tested at the factory.
Another week of waiting and I was told my discs weren't glued with a high enough quality glue, making them delaminate. I bought another batch of discs, this time of much higher quality and with a popular brand name. Five discs in the machine did it again. Thinking maybe even these discs weren't good enough I bought two different VERY high grade discs at the local store, ones that theres no way you could economically use in a huge burning project, but worth a try. Both of these sets of discs all met their demise during the loading process. I called tech support again, but they didn't have anything else they could do, so I sent it back for a refund.
They deemed the machine in perfect working order, which meant a three digit charge for restocking.
I went into this wanting this machine to work, but with this loading flaw and the fact they couldn't recommend discs that would work, I don't see how this machine is any good.
My recommendation: Don't buy it. Its a waste of money and you'll be stuck paying for shipping it back and a restocking fee
Comments about Acronova Xymba Dual-Drive Auto CD/DVD Duplicator:
While I did not run into any issues with the Acronova Xymba Dual-Drive Auto CD/DVD Duplicator hardware, the QQ software that came with the publisher was very difficult to work with. I had to reboot the machine and the computer almost every time I wanted to burn a CD or DVD because of the errors I ran into. The original version of the software that came with the Xymba was incredibly slow. While making a label, I had to wait several seconds for the letters I typed to show up. Tech support sent of several newer versions of the software, but the same errors appeared in all of them. They said the errors were most likely caused by the RDP connection I was using or the redirected My Documents folder that our company has in place. Even when we did not use an RDP connection or log in with an account with a redirected My Documents, we still had difficulty getting the software to work. Overall, I was able to burn very few discs with this machine and my company ended up shipping it back because we could not work around all the software errors.
