I don't have anything bad to say about this mic so far. I've had two of these for a few weeks and have used it primarily for PA and talkback in the studio. They have the heft of a 58 that many mics in this price range are lacking and they don't do anything too funky to the sound. I bought them as the 'stupid deal of the day' for [$] each so the only thing that would make me hate these mics is if they didn't work out of the box. I did some research and AKG makes these mics exclusively for musicians friend. I figure they just might be re-branded D88's without the switch, which is a pretty solid low end mic for the money. If anyone knows differently, please enlighten the rest of us!Time will tell the quality of craftsmanship with this unit. So far so good though. If you can't afford a 58 this is a good alternative and if they ever go on sale at [$] apiece again, it's a no brainer. They're worth the money at twice the price, so i bought two.

I was looking for some vocal microphones that were better than the Nady SP-5 microphones that we are using. These were a "Stupid Deal" - so I tried them. VERY sensitive. I could literally scrape my fingernail down the XLR cable and hear the microphone pick it up. I could tap the floow near the stand and have the microphone pick it up. I WOULD NOT recommend these for stand microphones. I am going to fly these above the stage are and use them to pick up sound for concerts and such. That way they can be "isolated" and I won't have to worry about performers and speakers handling the microphones.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
I needed a mic to replace my Shure Beta 58a. Bought this on a whim. Well worth the price. The D8000M represents my natural baritone nicely. Respnds well to nuance and the play of a seasoned performer. Cuts through a loud rock mix, but doesn't sound harsh or unnstural.
It could use a better internal pop filter. And, handling noise going into and out of a mic stand is present, but these are minor complaints that I've had with similar mics at much higher prices.
Nice mic for a bargain price. Well built. Feels substantial. Exceeded my expectations and then some. I chose it over a Neumann KMS105 for rehearsal and a recent live performance. No kidding.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
This is a great microphone for backing vocals. It may be sensitive it is great for backing vocal if you leave it on the stand. It is also good for lead vocals if you play an instrument and sing at the same time. Not much of a handheld microphone but overall it's great.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
The only downside I've experienced with this mic is that it has no on or off switch. But aside from that, it's a great buy! It picks up my acoustic guitar extremely well, my voice sounds clear (clean and scream), and it sounds great using it to mic up my amp. As a home studio guy, this mic has greatly improved the quality of my recordings. I highly recommend it!

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
For the price, can't be beat. Sounds very good in live situation. I'm not sayin it's an SM58, but it is very close and clear. I was really surprised that it sounded this good considering the price. Solid feel, built like a tank. I liked it so much I bought 2 more....

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
Picked it up at a Stupid Deal price. Wish I had bought two! The moment I opened the box, I knew I was holding a serious mic. It's built like a brick ship house. Yes, it's very sensitive, so leave it on the stand - it's not a hand held. It has excellent tone, and picks up remarkably well up to a foot away. If you are planning to eat this thing, or scream your lungs out, better have a wind sock. I sing softly from about 6 inches and it's perfect. Even when it's not on sale, this puppy is worth it.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
I was looking for extra mics to have in the studio for mic'ing amps, or extra vocals. Also to take along on gigs for back-up. The mics are decent for the money...I got them on the "stupid deal" and while they are not as clear or hot as my 58's, they work just fine for what they were intended for.
They particularly work good for mic'ing drums and amps when recording.
Pros
- Clear Sound
Cons
- Handling noise
Best Uses

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
The mics are clear, provided they are stand mounted and decoupled from the floor. Handling noise isn't as bad as the transmission of every contact with the cable. I suggest a tripod stand with rubber feet or major carpet padding or you will hear every footstep on the stage. Superior off axis rejection minimizes feedback so the mic is great if you run at high stage volume.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
If you can get this on sale go for it. But for something a little better and under a hundred, you can get a Sure SM48 and have a little better quality. After hearing the mic, I'll probably end up using it for review videos and a talkback mic for sessions and events.
